Also added balance beads to the rest of the tires to bring them all up to 6oz each.
When I decided to try balance beads after losing wheel weights a number of time I had a heck of a time finding information about how to do it. Everything I did find said more than a couple of ounces break the bead and throw the packet into the tire. Since I don't have the equipment to do that I had Auto Tire do it for me. They only put 4oz in, which didn't seem to be quite enough. When they balanced it was great, but they spent more time not smooth than smooth. Dropzone mentioned his BFGs required 6-8 oz so I got to thinking more might work better. Starting with 6oz.
How to get them in? Didn't really want to go back to AT....
was browsing Amazon and saw a Counteract balance bead kit. It comes with beads, valve cores, valve caps, installation bottle, hose and core tool.
Okay, let's do this thing!
I lifted the tire I was working on with a jack, rotated the tire's valve to the top, thumped on the tire to shake beads to the bottom, removed the valve core.
Next I rotated the valve to the bottom.
I used the scale to measure 2 oz of beads into the installation bottle,
put the hose on the bottle, and the other end on the valve stem.
Two methods seem to work best to get the beads out of the tube and into the tire,
1) lightly and quickly squeeze the bottle numerous times to 'floof' the beads in
and
2) use the valve core (or any small) tool to tap the side of the hose to jostle the beads into the tire.
This does require some patience, it doesn't happen in a hurry.
Once you're done install the special valve core and air up the tire.

Replaced the broken 'M' brake pad anti-rattle clip. Since the other clip and pins came with of course everything got replaced. The pins had wear spots on them anyway. These don't look like what you'd find on a 4Runner because of the 231 Tundra brakes.
Ordered for year/make/model 2005 Toyota Tundra v8
Also went by the Subie dealership for some old-school "Subie Long-Life (emerald green) in the blue and white bottle". And that's exactly how I asked the parts guy for it, too.
He asked for the year/make/model.
I told him it wouldn't help.
He insisted.
I told him I just need the Subaru Long-Life green coolant.
He STILL insisted.
Fine.
96 Toyota 4Runner 3.4 manual trans 4by.
He said
I said Subaru Long-Life green coolant please.
He said
Luckily the guy next to him got on the phone and had the coolant brought up front once he stopped chuckling.

Think I've found the not-quite-right steering feeling. The front upper control arms shift forward and back when the steering wheel is turned. The bushing on the rear of the front right a-arm has worked itself about 1/4" out of the a-arm.
Ordering 4 new a-arm bushings today, looks like they are all the same part number.
$26.92 ea, 4 for $107.68 + shipping
I'll try the how-to that I've got to go back and find so I can put the link here.
Ah, here it is:

Thanks to the OP 4rnographic and contributor jaydfw for their work and information
NOTE, the upper control are is too small for this method.

Most of you, okay, some of you at least know I'm a WOMAN, right?

Nice article otherwise, but I
Upper a-arm bushings are here but we are also hip-deep in a bathroom rebuild and my father-in-law broke himself so I'm not sure when I'll get to them. Hopefully sooner than later!

Nice article. Did someone tell you that they were writing about your 4Runner? I noticed a few articles about members here so I am just curious...

Let me get those upper control arm bushings in, I'm pretty sure they're really affecting the up front steering/ride part so until those are done I don't want to say much. I do think 6oz is working better than 4oz and they seem to be compensating for the bushing (I think) issue pretty well. Would have to put weight balanced tires back on to test that theory.
When I get the bushings done I'll be sure to post up my thoughts.
Wow, great memory. That was my...or actually Brandontrek's....mean pie that I used as my avatar.
When photobucket went stupid I put a lot of pics in the Yotatech album to get my thread repaired. Now those pics are showing up in the feed. They haven't said anything or asked for any information, the articles are as new to me as they are to everybody. I suppose the pics being in the YT album gives them the access and permission to use them. Maybe download some pics and see what happens?

Agreed! The falls off thing was like HEY! Oh...right....
Whenever my husband and I are next to my truck and someone is interested in it they ask him questions. He tells them it's mine and my work and they usually keep asking him. It's a little frustrating but we always chuckle over it because it's a little funny too.
In other words, I'm not terribly surprised by the error.

I knew that! I figured out that you were a woman when someone commented about your old avatar. It was a stick figure eating pie right?

(Ya know, I never had gone back and read all the stuff you've posted). I try to keep up every other month whether I have time or not.

Our trucks were pictured together on another posting, up on Imogene, so he's had his day.
