i would love to have your welder, after using my H-F flux core 90 amp welder the last couple of days it made me really want a real welder
Been wheeling a bunch. Blew up another junkyard 4.10, and found a killer deal on a 4:10 high pinion FJ80 3rd on pirate and put that in. I havent really put any money into the truck in a while, so going to try my hand at a doubler setup. I already have the second top shift and an advance adapters 23 spline dual case adapter. Should have the rest of the parts here soon. That should take my crawl ratio from 70:1 down to about 168:1. Which should really help I the bigger rocks I keep finding my self in. Haha

Wheeled a bunch this spring, now in the process of finally putting duals in. 2.28 and a 4.7 box make for a final of 10.7:1 reduction, for a final crawl ratio of 168. Everything is 23 spline because trucks a 3.0. Waiting for the paint on the budbuilts to dry and then I can start getting it in there and measuring for driveshafts.
The red is primer, they are black now. Skid is has a 1" drive train lift just to help tuck things up a little more.
Duals have been in for a bit, Budbuilt built-in 1.5" drive-train lift is sweet. Minimal floor cutting, tons more clearance.
Ditched the beat fenders and threw a little touch up paint at it.
Tossed the 2 piece rear shaft for a 1 piece. It hangs a little lower than the 2 piece, but after the drive-train lift, the 2 piece was almost straight anyway. New guy is 62" flange to flange made from 2.5" schedule 40 pipe. That size has a id of 2.48 and per the pirate bible the toyota yokes are 2.46, a little loose, but it came out pretty straight.

No real wheeling yet, just around my house. But headed to Field and Forest in Harrisville NH on Dec 1. Really excited to finally have the duals in the big rocks.

Quick picture of my seat set up. Its a passenger seat out of the same era truck. So the back rest adjustment is on the inside by the shifters. Its pretty much bolted in. the two out side bolts threaded right in, the front inside had a hole but no nut, easy. The rear want to be where the seat belt mounts. But needs to be spaced out a bit to sit squareish. Used a longer bolt and stacked a 3/4 spacer on top of the seatbelt tab and she s in! And it was free because it came out of the parts truck. Cant beat that.

Been getting out about once a month still wheeling. Truck just keeps crawling along.
Also upgraded the tow rig and trailer. Trailer was rusty, sold it for what I had into it and put that down on a new PJ 20'. I realy liked my f250,It towed awesome most of the time, but it would just never run right and left me stranded too often. Traded that in for a 19 tundra 5.7 with a tow package. No more towrig or trailer worries for me!
A friend asked my what gear I was in and I said: 2nd low, 4th gear. He asked what gear over all, and I had no idea. So I mathed it out. The red is the "gear #"
This is for my r150 with 2.28/4.7 duals, but the pattern should be similar for most
So , 2nd low (4.7 case) 4th gear is 10th gear.
I also did it out on my work bench for the Danger Runner with its w56 and stock duals. I only did one row for the 2.28, as both would have the same number.
Im going to type it up in Excel so I can print it and stick it in the visor. I dont know if this info is out there somewhere, but I couldnt find it.

Broke a chevy leaf after 6 years of wheeling on them. re worked the rear springs with parts lying around. Rear pack is now 1 main chevy leaf, 1 ford ranger helper spring, 2 toyota leafs from a ruf pack, and the chevy overoad. Seems to work pretty well and sits about the same height.
what size are your tires? where did you find chains that big? semi chains?
Tires are 38x12.5. I made the set of chains a few years ago out of old chain parts from our f550 plow truck. Only one of the chains around the tire is from tire chains, so I had to make the other 3. I used regular chain and cut/welded the hook to fit into the normal size chain. Some of the cross pieces are studded, the other are v bar.
These CHANGED how I wheel in the winter so much that I get sad when they come off in the spring. We dont get the snow fall the west does, but we do get ice.
This is a buddys sammy buggy. Hes running ice pick chains from a tractor on his 39. iroks. Even in 2wd he goes all over the place.
I would love a set like that or some skidder chains to make fit.. but people want crazy money for them even used.
I have a friend running some on is 36x13 iroks and they are stock front chains for a semi. I think he said he paid around 160 for them..
I picked up a newer set of 38x12.5 Tsls SXs to replace my dry rotting ones. I want to keep my old tires on the rims they are on for spares, so I got some procomp steelies to turn into DIY beadlocks.
Groved the middle out like this, then ill sipe the remaining middle and outter lugs. Should help them grab a little better.
