well finally got some time to work on the truck...it was really hot, tried a fan in the driveway, said forget it and waited till after 6 when it started to cool off.

got the spare transfercase put in, using it to diagnose to see if it is my 4.7 case or my 4 speed transmission that is the culprit. only snag i ran into was I will have to drill my rear pinion flange for my new driveshaft. I put a triple drill flange on the TC output but didn't want to mess with the pinion.

working on my kitchen remodel, taking way too much time..but if it comes in under budget, might get my 37's ...2 working days left than I am off the rest of the summer

hopefully have this thing ready for the Oregon YT get together the weekend of the 17th

Hmmm. I wonder why your driveshaft won't fit your rear pinion without drilling. Mine fit fine. Aren't the third members the same for all years? You must have a different pinion flange on there or something.

You've got to get your rig going before the YT get together! Get to work, man. You've got a week and a half

Rear shaft lower half is out of an '89 4Runner, CV is out of a '92 4Runner

3 different Pinion and transfer case flanges sitting in my box of spares, seems like the greater difference is with the front TC output shaft. SHould only take a few minutes to drill the flange. Vice Grips, 3/8" drill is pretty close to 10mm.

Yep my goal is to be out there at Brown's

You sure sounded tired today when I talked to you on the phone. Those 37's are going to look good on your truck when you come in under budget. Hang in there!

yeah Paul ripping out stuff and putting stuff back down has been hard on my back. Hopefully the tires are become a reality.

Seeing that new to you 82 was cool. You got a great deal on the truck
and an even better deal on your parts deal. I'll give you double for all the parts

It was actually a new to me 83.

Yes the parts were a smoking deal. The parts God was looking down favorable on me that day.

So you say, but mine has the 8A1 paint on it...well at least on the inside. Only 83. I picked up another hood and passenger fender tonight. That plus a windshield, front suspension pieces, manual steering box, 4 rims and tires(white like the 83 would have had), a door, and a complete steering column. I really have to stop collecting stuff. Maybe one of your friends has the single handle bed I need and I can trade them a bunch of stuff. HHHMMMMM................

had some time to kill so decided to take the plunge and start rattling some cans...no turning back now..
started off sanding it a bit...Found some bondo in the fiberglass...

took out the cab vent, sure enough the little rubber flap was MIA, Paul I will be using your replacement idea in the near future:

so trekkers have a bad habit of rusting out in between the cab and the fiberglass bed & cap. My eventual goal is to make the top removeable, but was dreading what I would find...thought with the vent out, perfect opportunity to see what I might run into:
towards the floor:

very happy to find no rust, as least through all the way...some trekker owners have ended up doing a cab swap because of what they find. Winnebago used about a gazillion screws to attach the fiberglass to the back of the cab...

swapped out the passenger door, my version of a quick release hinge was not a great success, so I decided to go with Stub's gravity version...much easier:

overall I am happy with the Desert Tan Camo rattle can ....still have the rest of the truck to do:

some people would say what the hell would you rattle can your truck, but I figure the paint was shot, the fiberglass is checked and this thing is a wheeler for the most part. needs a once over with some 220 or finer...

Paul that is cool that you are getting great deal, I know that I have a source
speaking of which--I could use both passenger and driverside door handles for spares. the extra set I had turned out to be crap

Sloan--thanks

How'ed you know it was Krylon? Still have 4 cans left and will probably have to get a couple of more

Electrican is working on the kitchen right now...he might have to work on it tomorrow too. once he gets done I need to get to work on patching sheet rock and laying tile...
So don't know if I will be painting the truck this weekend...still have the 2/3's of the truck to finish though...give me a ring if you get a break. Wish I had time to help you on your truck too...

figures

sanding this thing down I didn't realize the fiberglass bed was in such crappy shape...more cracks and checks than I expected so I don't feel quite as bad doing a $25 paint job.

Is Al huffing paint again at your house? Looking good. Maybe you can introduce me to AL since he is local.
