Turn Signal In Mirror mod

Been working on my kitchen remodel for a while now, went out to the garage to look for something and got sidetracked

decided to take about 10 minutes and do a signal in the mirror.
took a spare generic mirror (i usually have a couple of spares I tend to break them)
took the mirror and a 2" LED marker light:

drilled a 2.25" hole, in the mirror housing, fed the wire through a couple of more holes in the mount and ended up with this:
Name: P7190710.jpg
Views: 121
Size: 97.5 KB

still needs to be wired up, but i like it for 10-15 minutes and a $3-4 LED marker
When the 1st Gen truck first came out they were billed as the "Son of a Land Cruiser" so kind of like a new FJ Mirror light (though missing the heated mirror etc etc)

..they add some safety...let's face it, 30 year old first gen signals are kind of anemic...

Nice job Robb. Hope your kitchen is moving right along. You need some outside in the mountains time to regenerate. Hey picked up a beautiful single handle long bed bed today. Unfortunately it won't work for my 83, but maybe for one of your friends. It is in near perfect shape. You have got to see it soon.

thanks Paul--i agree time away. Kitchen passed the electrical inspection...tile moving slowly. I had to go to Eugene Saturday night to pick up some more...there wasn't any more of our tile in the Portland area. Lowe's in Eugene had it..you are gonna like this, clearanced for 9 cents a tile I only needed two boxes but I bought 10 boxes just in case

I will see if anybody needs a bed..where are you gonna keep this one? If i had the $$$ I would love to pick it up for a trailer

will get over sometime soon to check it out

Where to keep it is a great question. I haven't got that decided yet since the driveway and garage are full. Maybe on the roof. I had to remove the canopy and part of the lumber rack to get it in the bed of my truck. I really am amazingly retarded some times.

.09 is great

I am embarrassed for you too. Subscribe to Robb's thread and he will edumacate you on it. I need to start one here too, but I am lazy. It is much easier to hijack this one. This is my Trekker. It has an unique look to it.

Hey Al- you may have seen it in my driveway. There are only a few of them here in this area. I know where most of them are, however Robb found a red in Damascus that I have never been able to track down. Maybe you know where it is.

Thanks!...trekkers show up every now and than, too bad as there was one for sale recently that the guy was desparate to sell prior to a move, I think he went from $2k down to a grand very quickly and it was a great truck

Yeah the fumes can get to you. I still need to get it finished, probably do a light sand and touch up.

Two tone: might do the lower rockers in black..

i would vote against the 2-tone, especially with black. when you paint the bottom black the bottom of the rig 'falls' into the shaddows, making the proportions look funny. keep it all one color, unless the 2-ton is only around the windows.

probably just gonna leave it with black rims, bumpers, sliders and maybe paint the aluminum trim around the rear side windows.

stupid truck hasn't moved in 3-4 months....
