SAS qustion

from some of the stuff ive been reading about an SAS says to use a 3rd member from a cruiser and an axle from like an 85 pickup or 4runner. My question is y cant you use the whole axle from the cruiser?

Don't quote me on this, but I would imagine the axle is too wide.

yea, sounds good cept that the all pre ifs front axles are nerower(wow cnat spell) then the solid rears in post ifs.

(not trying to sound like an ass)

I believe you use the hub assembly from the IFS, extending the axles out. I'm not 100% sure, but this is what I remember.

hmmm... that sounds better then using the spacers like other ppl are doing.

You can use whatever you want. There is no swap police.

People use mini truck solid axles because they are around and cheap.

People use high pinion 80 fronts for strength and driveline angle.

Too wide with respect to what?

The biggest issue is cruisers are sprung under or coils. Mini's are sprung over.

Dont forget about the high steer issues with an FJ-80 axle and knuckles.

Minitruck axles are widely available cheap, have an excellent aftermarket, did i mention they are cheap? They have a better parts availability as well, ever price 80-series front axle parts?

Working on a solution to that.

40/60/62 are sprung under with mini stuff.

OTT used to make/still makes but won't sell, 80 series high steer. Most people go stock or hack it up.
