Turbo 4runner start up, almost done
#264
So I got the snorkel finished up. The 3" smashed down into a 2" oval so there isn't a view obstruction out the back and it doesn't even stick out past the fender flare. Made a nice solid mount attaching it to the roof rack so the window can't get broken if it ever did hit something.

Great writeup! Absolutely love it! One thing that I would recommend would be a driveshaft hoop like the ones below though. I would hate to see all of your hard work destroyed by something as simple as a faulty u-joint! Most anyone who wheels has been through that experience before. Although in your case, it may not be as easy as letting your front driveshaft limp you off the trail. The catastrophic nature of a jumping driveshaft would likely obliterate your turbo. Just a thought! They can easily be set up with leftovers, pipe bender, heat, etc.!

Just read the whole thread again, so awesome! However I am really confused as to why the snorkel is on the drivers side... I'm sure your answer will make me face-palm it real hard...

Had another conversation in a grocery store parking lot today, a jeep driver this time...
Stranger: Is that a snorkel?
Me: Yup.
Stranger: For the engine or what?
Me: Yes, the engine.
Stranger: Did you rear mount the engine in that thing?

Ah thanks BMcEL, I totally missed that.
Clownmeat, does it just cross directly across the rear by the crossmember? like where the rear tire used to mount? Any completed under pics that show the whole system?
