I have been meaning to ask you, have you checked the intake temps on your setup? The OBDII sensor on the MAF sensor should work since the turbo flows over it.

Real curious what the temps are. Supercharged trucks can see intake temps well into the 200's at that boost.

I'm very interested in what temps you are seeing at that point in the piping as well. Just wondering if an air to liquid intercooler like the one on your Honda would be beneficial or not. It seems to me that with a remote mount setup there would be plenty of places to position one of those.

If you have an OBDII scan tool or even better a computer version of it, it should be easily accessible on the OBD port. It is useless with a supercharger but with your setup it should work great.

Okay, here you go. So as you can see here with a rear mount turbo I am seeing intake air temps at 100 degrees normal driving and after about 45 minutes of pull after pull workout it peaked at about 135 degrees. I think it's pretty good compared to the 200+ degrees the supercharged ones see.

First off are you getting any knock? Can't tell in the video.

This was at 7psi? What were the outside temps?

Not bad at all and FAR better then the supercharged temps. Gives me a lot of hope for my turbo setup. Some meth injection should bring temps right down in my case. At the same boost I would not be surprised if I pick up 50whp over my supercharger.

Got anymore videos of that same kind of driving only showing the Tach and boost gauge?

Zero knock, 7psi, ~70 degrees ambient. No videos like that, but there will be when the paddle shift is done.

With these temps I wouldn't bother with an intercooler, but yeah lots of room for one.

Yeah, those temps are pretty low. If they were 20-30 degrees higher, I would be tempted to add one since they are not that horribly expensive. Although, the money would be better spent on a water/meth injection setup like Texas Ace has on his truck.

I wish I wasn't so broke right now because of my overspending for Christmas. I think I either need a second job, a small side business, a roommate, or I need to eliminate some expenses so I can start buying parts for a setup like the one you have. I've already grown tired of driving my 4Runner because it is just too slow. I absolutely love everything else about it, just not the acceleration.

Just thinking about all of the stuff I want to do to my cars makes me wish I was still renting rather than owning a home so I had a cheaper housing payment. I also wish I didn't have so many expensive hobbies. Between fixing up and remodeling my house, my 4runner, my Infiniti G35, my girlfriends Civic that I bought for her,and still making payments on , my 96 Integra money pit, my very insane addiction to tools, my 21' Larson I/O runabout with wakeboard tower that I co-own with my dad (also a money pit), my pair of Kawasaki Jet Skis (yet another money pit), computers, home theater and audio, consumer electronics, etc. I don't have much left over for buying performance parts and mods.

I guess at this point, since I can't afford to start buying parts until I get Christmas paid off, I can live vicariously through you and your turbo project. If you could make lots of videos and put them up on youtube, that would make living vicariously through you much easier (or make the desire for a turbo much worse). :-D

BTW, good job on that video. Most people shooting like that make it look like Michael J. Fox was holding the camera.

Yeah, Me!

I wish there was a boost charity that would add boost to the cars of people who desperately need it :-P

My G35 could use a pair of turbos too! Or a Vortech S3. I'm not too picky.

Kind of off topic but turbo related. I forgot about my Honda sitting in the back yard and the water/air intercooler didn't have antifreeze in it and noticed the pump laying on the ground. It froze and broke off. Tis the season for $h*t to happen. Just a friendly reminder if you use water/air.

Clownmeat, can you post a pic and description of where/how you tapped for your oil supply? I know you mentioned it briefly earlier but a picture would really help.

Thanks.

This is where I put it just because it was NPT and I was driving it everyday and ACE hardware had the fitting for like $3. Where I put it is before the filter so the optimal place would probably be where the oil pressure sensor is, then it's after the filter. To do that you just need to buy a BSPT adapter, I use one from stealthmode performance on the Honda, it's really nice because it has 1 in and 2 out so you can screw your pressure sensor back in and run a feed line or another gauge or whatever.

Did you use hardline all the way to the turbo?

Yup, and all one piece too. Routed it just where I wanted it so rocks or anything couldn't get to it and used cushion clamps to secure it. Thought of using copper to make it easier, but went with steel for durability. Had to buy a nice double flaring tool that wasn't cheap and probably wont use again. If anything happened to that line out on an adventure, I would be dead in the water. Guess you could just buy a 12' steel braided hose if you were feeling lazy though.

Nice, I have mixed feelings on hardline. It is great for something that will never be touched again.

For things that will have movement or could get damaged such as this, like you said, if something happens you are screwed.

I plan to tap into the same place, although most likely after the filter since I already have an adapter there for my pressure gauge.

Not sure what line I will use, most like just go with steel braided ran inside the frame rains like I did some other stuff.
