you can use any resistor OR a potentiometer which is just a variable resistor an dial in how much dimming you want
if you have your packaging go to http://www.hebeiltd.com.cn/?p=zz.led.resistor.calculator put in the values asked it will tell you resistance then double it which will drop the light bar brightness by half

Wooohoooo! My pleasure bubba.... now for the tango-6 step tailgate operation rig-up! Hehe..... Should be fun getting that gremlin!
You could also use led bulbs for those licence plate lights if u keep em... just slap some led bA5's or 7's in em and poof! Lol..... Wait... are they already LED in those? For $3.49?????? I'm guessing not.... but great fix bubba!

The Pepboys lights just came with regular 194 dashboard lights. I do have 3 extra superbrightLED lights left that i can just swap in but i think I'll just leave it as is.
Not saying what to do, but I would use that strip for interior or otherwise lighting.... dim it? Ur plate is good for now, and it seems it would take too much moding to make a bright led strip DIM? Lol.... or shielded? ..... Light up ur cabin with it or mount it to ur shell behind the lip/shell to cab mount..... or engine bay, YES! Its nice, use that sucker! Lol

Thanks 85 yota. I love how it came out. Just not a fan of how much it ended up weighing lol.
Actually I wanted to share with you guys. After installing this rear bumper my rear sagging issue came back yet again! Darn! So I remember speaking with Kurtis of AllPro OffRoad in Hemet Ca. and they told me just to try these springs out. And If the problem persists to call back and they'll swap them out for a 5" lift leaf spring pair.
I didn't take them up on their offer because I did the add leaf mod to gain another inch of lift and that fixed my problem. But now my rear end is sagging again with the weight of the 110lb bumper/tire carrier with tire, rim and jerry can.
I called their customer service and Kurtis answered again. I explained my situation to him and he said that they will gladly exchange them for the 5" lift pair, which by the way they had in stock. Told him I wouldn't be able to come during the week and he said he was gonna be working from 9am and on this Saturday and for me to come in then.
I have nothing but great things to say about All-Pro's 5star customer service. They have gained a returning customer for life.
I even asked him that when I got my order of leaf springs the center bolt that holds the leaf packs in place were placed in backwards with the round part on top. And I told him when removing it to turn it around the bolts broke. Which did actually happen. And Kurtis told me that there wouldn't be any problem at all. So I just plan to remove the leaf springs that I added then bolt them in again.
I'm gonna go with the 5" springs and ill probably buy 5" or 6" shackles. To make sure that the weight of my rear end won't make the rear end sag again.
Definitely happy with their customer service. So I'll be heading out over to Hemet CA this saturday morning to swap out my rear leaf springs.
EDIT: Just called them again and He said to bring the shackle plates in as well anf they'll swap those out for me too! Nice looks like I'm gonna have an even rear end now woo hoo

Will the new springs be stiffer or just more lift?
I'm wondering what I will end up using. I don't want the rear to sag when it's fully loaded like last falls epic road trip. On rougher trails so fully loaded I bottomed out my suspension often.
Plus its like I said I've been on photobucket since 2004. I guess I'm kinda used to it. Dunno if I'd wanna pay $30 yearly so I just made another photbucket account. Thats what i might just end up using i guess. I just hope photobucket jumps on this problem that made all my images crash.
Small price to pay for online storage of photo's. I've paid for my account.
If my house burns down things are replaceable, photos not so much. I don't need to worry about that happening now with everything stored on their servers. $30 a year for safe storage of your memories.

I thought the leaf springs again guys. and i was remembering that i i originally bought a 4" lift and when it sagged i added the extra leaf & spacers i ended up gaining approx 1" lift maybe 1.5 in the rear. I dont remember the exact height, but the point is that i pretty much converted my 4" lift leafs into 5" and with that it is still sagging at the moment. So what think i am gonna do is go with a 6" instead. I do have a ton of weight in my rear end then your average 1st gen 4runner. I can see it now 110lb worth of steel in the rear, tire/steelie rim, roof rack with extension, 5gallons worth of gasoline in the jerry can, and then for the weekend camping off road trips like Tiera Del Sol that roof rack of mine is gonna be loaded up too! I just dont see it making it with 5" lift back there. If i get 5" springs the rear end is gonna be sitting at exactly where it is at right now. So this is why im gonna go with 6". The rear end is gonna be compressed anyway so it'll level out once we take it off the jacks.
So i'm gonna call All-Pro tomorrow during business hours and ask them for the 6" springs instead. and i'm gonna go with either 5" or 6" shackles. this combo should definitely work out for my truck. 4" lift in the front and 5" in the rear with 4" shackles is the average set up for 1st gens. but i'm just taking into consideration the massive load i carry in my rear.
anyway thats all i had to say.

By the way. i wanted to share with you guys that the latch from EMS offroad doesnt hold too well. Either that or my installation(or positioning of it) was off. I had a scare this sunday. I drove about 6 miles on the street to pick up a friend to drive out 15miles out to San Gabriel Ca. So i got out to say hi to his family and on the way back to the truck i seen the latch was in the downward position. This scared the crap out of me because just the right amount of bumps and jumps would have probably made that latch come loose and there would have gone my tire swing opening on the freeway at 65-70mph. I temporarily used a tie down strap to hold the bumper shut but thats something that i wanted to fix for sure.
This was a big eye opener in a major flaw my tire carrier had. and it had to be addressed immediately. So i bought yet another lock. One that was longer to wrap around the latch. to hold it closed. So i secretely "borrowed"(lol) one large nut from work with a hole big enough for the lock to fit through and i welded it to the swing and the latch.
I totally messed up the welds on this. I forgot to open up the CO2 tank so i welded the nut on all jacked up at first. once I realized the tank wasnt open i ended up giving it another pass with the welder. So you'll see in the pix the welds look pretty thick and crappy.... but oh well. its on there now and it aint going anywhere now haha

Now this limits the play that the latch has. It definitely wont open up anymore.
Now im just gonna need to buy some paint and primer and clean this up some.

when looking at leaf springs, depending on who is selling them. like all pro says 4" LIFT springs while other companies like TG just says 4" Spring. i think the TG just have a 4" arch in it.
its possible someone might have been messing with your latch. the lock is a good idea

Also, My friend bought this truck a week ago off a co worker.
I have to say this thing was an absolute mess when i went to look at it with him. I needed some MAJOR work done to it. It is an 86 IFS toyota 4x4 regular bed pickup. interior is completely trashed. Foam on the seats are missing chunks, the entire engine was covered in oil. aisin hubs are hard to turn, 29"/9.5 bald tires, horrible extended bed roll bar. and ridiculous looking front and rear bumpers. Tons of miles on the odometer. i believe about 324k. rust on the bed. a few small dents, a couple big dents. 22r motor. etc etc.
Anyway the guy was asking for $1800. and my friend brought him down to $1100 My friend gave it a couple of washes. Degreased the heck out of the engine. and had a family mechanic friend change out the water pump and some seals on the engine that were leaking really bad; the friend did the work for free. In total he has only put in $46. and the truck is already running strong. He installed a brand new battery that he had laying around, and the radiator was apparently brand new. it was just dirty lol. So thats another thing out of the way. He said hes gonna do a full tune up, rebuild the carburetor, possibly injectors, and hes gonna do the timing belt. (assuiming with Marks slightly used belt) anyway here are the pix. I'm really happy i got one of my best friends getting into the yota scene lol
My friend plans to buy Mark's/chefyota's old 31/10.5 BFG A/T tires at the end of the month. My friend removed the ridiculous sized roll bar already.
Here are the pix of his rig.

He was also saying that he wants to do an axle swap vs fixing up his ifs set up. He would rather go all out vs spend money only to replace it all. So he also wants to buy Mark's extra solid axle.
Keep in mind my friend is a Big rig trucker. and the place where he parks/stors his truck at provides a maintenance service to their renters and my buddy made friends with the guy that provides welding service and apparently he's going to build him front and rear bumpers. Similar to the warn bumper look (for the rear) and some rock sliders like mine.
IT was funny because when i met the guy i had taken my truck and this welder guy also drives a lifted 91 extended cab 3" spacer lifted 4x4 pickup. its clean. but man did he go crazy on my truck. he loved it so much. taking mental pictures from every angle gettting under my truck to see how stuff was welded and such. i felt like my truck mustve felt violated lol anyway My truck gave this guy a ton of ideas. and he wants to experiment with my friends truck first before he works on his own. So looks like my friends pickup is gonna be his guinea pig lol this is also the guy that is gonna do his SAS. They just need multiple pictures or in person views on how its all done. so i'm guessing theyre gonna need to see my rig in person a few times.
Oh and btw He was telling me today that he thinks it has a locker in it because when he peeled out yesterday the tires both in the rear went off together. and he said he hears pops from the rear that are felt throughout the truck. I told him it may be possible. but i'd have to take a closer look at it. either by lifting the truck on a jack and turning the tire and seeing if they turn together. or by removing the 3rd.
Anyway i'm really happy for him. Glad we've added one friend to our offroad group.

its carbed the aircleaner is the telltail
nice little truck rust is no biggie tell him to go look at terry's projects!
if he were in ANY state but socialist republic of calif id say upgrade the carb to a weber 32/64 better idle systems, performance and MPG
but rebuilding the carb isnt hard on the asian ons just the wear on the throttle shafts thats the pain if they're worn theres no fixing them he'll either have to get a new carb or go to a machine shop an get the shafts removed bronze bushings put in an then the throttle plates reinstalled with the shaft ive got 3 dead carb bases in the shop due to the worn shafts
just something he needs to know bout the carbs

As for somebody messing with the latch. There wouldnt be any way for that. because when i left my house i had closed the tire swing and latched it upward then drove to the friends house. and we were talking to his brother about 4-5 feet away from my truck. i would have noticed somebody mess with it if they did.
Thank you. I'm brilliant aint i??? lol jk but it will definitely make me feel more safe about it now

And the truck still needs loads of work. but like i told him. Just one step at a time and you'll get there. My truck was in horrible condition too. i didnt get it to what it looks like in 1 month. it took almost 2 years worth of time. He'll get it little by little. He wasnt to repaint it the same Toyota tan color with black accessories.

One step at a time, indeed! And as with mine, the "lil unforeseen gremlins" can sidetrack you over and over.... but eventually, we turn them into what is often, IMHO, a more reliable and durable "thing" than many of the "things" they are putting out for $35K today....... Just with less "Modern gizmo's"....many of which can be modded in as well!
Can't wait to see it and rack my brain over other ways to improve it with ya'all!
