That is a nice bumper, I'll keep it mind when I replace mine. When I get rid of the body lift the bumper will no longer work.

CDN yea man that is the bumper i keep talking about that i want. It's so freekin sexy! and its different. Everybody has ARB or warn and mostly tube bumpers. I like the CBI one cuz it looks sharp, different and has a new look to it vs the competition. not to mention nobody has it. well that ive seen so far.

I'll look through my photobucket and see if i can find some more pix of it. CBI sent me a few other views in an email a while back ago

Thats all I got for the front bumper. And this is the CBI bumper that I really wanna buy. When I decide to upgrade my bumpers. I think I'm gonna go for this rear tire carrier first before I get the front one; I need it more. I have to have my bed space on the inside of the truck and a tire that size takes up way too much space. So tire carrier will definitely be next on my list. Only bummer is that you need to supply the swing part and the lock hardware separately.

CBI makes some great looking rear bumper/tire carrier/jerry can holder all in one. You should see the ones they have for newer generation 4Runners those look sick!

My dad said he would like to help me out with welding these on. He was taking a look at Rubens welds and said yea its good but he thought Ruben would have done a better job then he could have but he said he is sure he can get better welds in. I figured Ruben helped me with my entire SAS so I can get help from my dad to help me with my welds on the sliders.
We'll see when we install them. I need to find some installation instructions for it first.

Nice!

W/out a body lift the pipes need to be cut at an angle opposite the arch cutouts..... this way u keep the frame side end of the pipes near the center of the mounting tabs..... , and then your slides will be a slight hangover and write up to the bottom of the door, minus around 1 inch in case they get slammed really good... I mean, you want to be able to open your door if that happens. Awesome! They make a nice stuff, don't they?

Looking great man. I really like the look of those CBI tire carriers. I couldnt agree with you more on the tire in the back, I hate it!

Sliders are gonna look great on your rig. I still need to finish making mine.

Yea William, Their bumpers are my favorites so far. I like some of the tube ones too but i prefer the look of plate bumpers so much more.

Dang guys. I just gathered up all my receipts and added everything back up.

It was shocking I was left like daaaaaaaamn! Lol

Over the course of the two years that I've had this truck and started this project of mine I have spent $11.986.43 on buying the truck rebuilding the engine/fixing
things here and there, restoring, modifying, upgrading the truck(sas, gears, & lockers included.)This total also includes the sliders, 4 new AllPro leaf springs and the power windows/mirrors that I haven't done yet. Dang...

Well I had always estimated my grand total would more or less be in the $13k zone when I were to finally finish everything i want on this rig.
IMO I'd say that was a great estimate. So give or take another $1k for the bumpers/tire carrier that I want and yea my total will be left at approximately that amount. Wow.... and that's still not including the lights & winch; And I'd also like to get and fixing the AC in the future.

I still think this is a great amount considering I was on the verge of buying a 2011 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 before I finally decided on this 4runner.
I would still be paying the 35-40k loan on the truck with full coverage and be drowning in debt. And that still isn't including all the offroad upgrades I would have wanted for it including an SAS. I would have been stuck with almost a $45k debt; if not more! I'm sooooooo freekin happy I decided to stick with my first choice this 1989 SR5 4Runner fixer upper. It has been a great journey and learning experience for me to work on this truck. To mold it exactly to my liking and wanted off road capabilities. And the best part about it all is that the pink slip is under my name! This is my own truck; not the bank's. And the only thing I have to pay off from all this is only $3k.

Once that amount is paid off I would like to slowly save up my money again and get a tire carrier bumper. Then my front CBI bumper followed by the lights and winch. And really that would conclude everything I want to do to the truck. Dang I'm so happy I took the time to add all these receipts up. Such a great eye opener for all those people looking to buy a brand new truck vs old fixer-upper like this one was. The whole experience has been priceless for me.

Spent the day with Mark and my girl Faby. Delivered all my 89 IFS stuff to him and the extra Napier Sportz SUV Tent. Went to Lowes to get some washers and new stainless steel hardware for my roof rack. The steel ones I have started showing signs of rust already. We didn't get to installing that stuff today but we did check out my AC system. With summer around the corner and the high temps already reaching California I wanted to at least troubleshoot this so I don't die of heat stroke this year hahaha!

Here is my girl suiting up for work with Mark's jump suit.

We retrofitted the stock R12 fittings for the newer style fittings.

We also troubleshot the compressor and found that it wasn't seized. So that was a good thing.

A couple more pix I took for that hot women of YotaTech page. Nothing better then both my loves together lol

Ugh! Every time I see pics I fall more and more in love with that color!

It is definitely one of the sweetest rigs I've seen. Where did you come up on that roof rack? Yakima site maybe?

Thanks for the compliment. The truck has definitely came a long long way from since I first bought it.
I bought the Yakima roofrack (without the middle extension), 2 locks, and with 2 nets all for approx $280 off a dude on craigslist, I bought the middle extension for either $120 or $150 off an online website. Definitely gotta say that full length rack has came in handy to have big time! Held a ton of my off road/camp gear on our Tiera Del Sol Safari weekend trip earlier this year.

Heres a pic of that trip. Pre SAS/lift.

Nice! I looked on the site and they don't make one vehicle specific for a first gen. I wonder if one from a newer model would also fit a first gen? I guess it's only a few measurements away from knowing.

No the yakima roof basket is universal. Fits all suvs and trucks. The actual roof rack that is mounted through my fiberglass top is a Tahoe roof rack.

If u plan to go this route I recommend you use the same roof rack that Mark (chefyota4x4) used. I believe hisbis off a suburban. Not sure gonna have to check. But look back on both our threads a couple of pix and you'll see how we did the install.

Yea bro. Very sexy lol. As for my girl; Faby is a nickname. Her birth name is Fabiola. So we all call her Faby for short. Not only that but also because not all people can pronounce Fabiola.

Sorry i didnt take pix of the today's progress with steps but I removed the roof rack and drilled out the holes bigger through my roof to install some plastic spacer washers so I can tighten the bolts that go through my roof as much as I want with out destroying the fiberglass hard top. Thanks Mark for that idea. It really works.

Anyways I used some new headliner material from Pepboys. And used some 3M 80 Adhesive Spray bought from Home Depot. I love the way it came out. It is pretty clean looking. With the exception of the little bumps where the bolts and nuts tie down into through the roof. But other then that. Yea it came out pretty clean.
