WOOT an A+ again for using the old school method for greasing bearings it also lets ya check the condition of older bearings if your reusing them cracks in the cage (part that holds the rollers) are quickly felt odd discoloration (overheating) other issues are quickly found not always so when using a bearing packer

not to say i dont use one but i learned the old way first heck i did the kids bikes today one tube replacement the other got steering bearings repacked an new brake cables an handlebars as he hated the flat bar wanted bmx on there

I agree when repacking existing bearings, hand method all the way. ... at least initially.... But i always flush them completely and that takes quite a bit to clear it all... Then, I just found the packer able to get even more in them after doing by hand.... But, I not suggesting doing it by hand is an inadequate way to go in the least.

Here is some of what my Neighbour and I did yesterday and today.

We unbolted the everything that had to do with IFS suspension and smacked the pieces with a big hammer to unsieze it all.

Made the trip to YotaMasters in the city of Corona California to pick up my front 3rd member. I also bought a spring scale off them to check my bearibg preload on the 54mm nuts.

We spoke toyota talk for a good hour. Erick was one realky cool dude. He knows his stuff well. And while I was there I figured I might as well buy some Diff armor to protect my investment. So I bought my front axle this heavy duty plate and the long piece that mounts on top of the axle. Erick was kind enough to also let me have one of the cheaper diff armor plates nobody wants and leaves at the shop. Threw that in the package for free. All trail gear pieces. Gonna use the cmaller plate for the rear axle.

This ain't welded yet. But I thought I'd throw I'm a picture anyway. I still had to grind down a few of the extra parts from the stock axle to get it to fit. All good all those extra parts aren't needed anyway since I'm gonna have Hy-Syeer.

And some of the engraving he did. That is one way for me not to forget when this work got done. Byw just realized he misspelled "Spartan" locker. Lol. All good. It's the work that counts.

Today we picked up My neighbours plasma cutter from work. It was a small one that he eventually clogged the small tip where the torch is so we had to take it bsck to his job and get the big guns lol

Gotta tell ya its a white vs black difference having this in handy vs trying to use a grinder for taking it all off. This thing melts the metal like butter. Definitely saved us a few hours having that thibg available to us. Wooot!

Here are the pix of Ruben in action.

It does look funny with nothing there. Lol

I just realized something. I didn't measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the truck. And I didn't measure the distance from the tire to the bottom of the fender before begining this swap/lift. Dang. Well all I know is it was just at stock height with 31's. Lol

I gotta search for all those measurements I did when I measured the height of the truck with that roof rack from the ground to the top. That will be able to tell me more or less how much height I've really gained. Woooo man I so can't wait to get'er done. I wanna start welding stuff! For some reason I'm nervous though. I don't know why but I think I might run into some driveshaft problems possibly being too short.

Should message a couple Guys with 4" lifts and sas and see what length their shafts are/how much is exposed, then see how much play the shafts he Gabe you will provide ,etc. There is a generic rule of as much or more shaft showing outside to inside the slip. ... Your shafts are slip in rear still, right? If so, you could have issues. If it is an issue(The length)Do NOT let it go. ... you can damage ur brand new gears. Do new u joints while ur at it in there. 20 $ each by a specialist near me...

Awesome work Richard! lucky you got a great neighbor with some skills also!

Hey! are you replacing the upper control arms? If so, and if you don't sell, and plan on junk'n your ifs stuff, can I have the upper control arms? I might do a 1" ball joint lift to level out my zuk mod. I would need to cut a bit of it out, so it would be nice to have an uncut pair as backups in case I want to go back to nothing.

Dang.... worst what rotten luck I've got..... today I got pulled over the city of Venice it was for A no turn on red ticket. I honestly did not see the sign that's the ticket states was clearly posted and I'm usually really good at sighting those signs. I don't know man. Ticket doesn't say how much I've gotta pay but I do have to appear in court before 5/22/13. I looked uo some info and seen that most of these infractions (as the ticket states) are approx $189-498 plus traffic school. This is seriously the last thing I needed at a financial crisis time such as this. All my money has been getting dumped into my SAS. I seriously don't have that money. And this next paycheck is pretty much going to paying the gear and locker installs that have already been done....
Sucks because I wasn't even in a hurry. I was just kindibg my own business. I stopped for more then 3 seconds behind the line and when I went the op flooored it almost hiting me as I made my turn to pull me over. Almost as if he was specifically waiting on me to ˟˟˟˟˟ up.

What a way to start off my day. Damn

Thats just it.... i dont know anybody with a 4" lift lol. Today i'll ask Ruben if he knows a place that can do it for me. I know Erick from toyotamasters recommended me hitting up 4Crawler.

But if you guys can use most of it then i'll be more then willing to donate to you guys. He kinda jumped on the offer so i'll see what he replies first. i'll let cha know then.

There shouldn't need any lengthiness since its near center so flexing out the rear doesn't need much rear driveshaft flex. The Reason the front needs a long slip is because its off set to one side. So if you droop out the side with the driveshaft. The shaft will slip apart. You might be able to get away without any driveshaft work but you won't need to worry about it till the SAS is done

Sucks about the ticket!!

Hey guys quick question.
WHAT ARE THESE 4 SMALL PIPES? and WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR? WHERE DO THEY GET INSTALLED?
I called AllPro and forgot they are closed on weekends. The online instructions dont specify what they are. And my neighbour doesnt remember what they are used for.

Big ole bummer, buddy! Wow!

Yeah, we're Californians, Angelinos to be specific. ... GOTTA ALWAYS look for every trapping method out there, right? That's my home town, off Circle, at Brooks st..... Soooooo many things to watch out for in Venice, homie. U with ur girl, walking the boardwalk? Get a pic of this hidden sign abd show us? I'll tell ya, many have nearly nabbed me/many have nabbed me, lol. Always had hot rods, and there were a few cops who would harass me. "Tires are slicks? OHHHH NOOOO.. And no smog???" ....."Uh, they are street legal branf new track/street tires..... and its a 66 Mercury 429..... there was no, nor does it need any, smog equipment, officer"... Santa Monica is even worse, especially now. Peoples Republic of SM! Lol

Toyo, I hear ya on the "less" drama end... But I am just mentioning the shaft stretching out too far cuz of vibration and pinion angle. .... Tcase Output Shaft ujoint wear pattern and seal wear pattern changing. Both were an issue for me at only 2.5" lift. I did mention the slip cuz mine became 1" Further exposed than was worn even the Zuk. That's why I was saying maybe just bite the bullet now on the ujoints, as everything is up in the air/good time for routine maintenance, yeah??

Also, those seals could leak... tcase output and front seal to front dshaft - shaft seal. Mine is newer and it leaked after 2.5" I think it's the bearing is slowly getting to "that" point, lol. ... but the rear seal isn't leaking as well, so that's good. Lol. (Yet the rear angles more level with the path of the shaft, ya know? )

I would

*Get the shafts figured out for sure.

*New ujoints in back (maybe in front since they're Gonna Have it , maybe?.... But front ujoint in the double Carden are not as cheap, for sure.... and usually fine. ) But not super cheap for good ones, just the labor of 20$ each or so. Precision JDM are around 50$ each. ... BUTTT, ... they do last, right? I just grabbed mine at a huge discount , way ahead of time. Now that they're in, the locker is "PUP-PPPINGGG" less, and vibration is nearly inaudible to nill. Good maintenance, IMHO.... but not free, I get it.

*GET THOSE DONOR Tires BALANCED! Lol. ..... who knows, right? At least check to see if weights fell off?

KICK ARSE AND TAKE NOOOOOO NAMES, HOMIE! Lol

*those couple seals (That shop will do ur diff pinion seals already? Woot! Lol) tcase one is around 13-17 $ at dealer, and isn't hard, so u could do it later (just hate the thought of losing that fresh fluid and the smell of it burning on the exhaust as it slings all around o.O Haha.)

I'd bet they are sleeves, bubba. Probably for inside the bushings for the front hanger of the rear (?) pack u bought?

When u install new bushings in the new front hanger. ..... that bolt slides through a sleeve. Same with the front hanger bushing of the front pack. The rear one, with the shackle, that can use them as well if a kit. Probably so, if u have one pair of leaf packs and 4 sleeves?

Those 4 pipes are for your shock hoops. Two per hoop. You weld them to the back side of the hoop and tie it to the frame. It's for extra support

You and chef should look into getting double Cardin u joints done. At least for the rear since it turns all the time

Ahhhhh, thanx, Toyo!

Does he have those for his front most rear hanger as well?? My OMEmu kit and the daystar enable kit for ours comes with those longer looking ones.
