Terry is your Check engine Light on by any chance? It it isn't. Would you mind making a short video of how all your lines are connected. I think I have it all right bit id really like to make sure and be positive that they are correct.

Well Chef. i would have drooled over all this stuff. but i got all 4 leaf springs already, the axle isnt bad, but i definitely cant afford it anyway so i'll stick to mine and i guess gradually buy everything (gears, and locker).
LOL RMP, you should just come live out here ha ha haa!
That Downey header offer sounds good though.
I gotta see whats up with my neighbors mechanic son see if he ended up finding the headers in his storage or not. but ill definitely consider that one. gotta see what the price difference would be ya know.

The solution to you shackle hole is just use a drill with a hole saw bit a plasma is ideal for this swap cause of all the brackets that need to be cut off but you can do it with a cut off wheel grinding wheel anda air chisle would help also but you got it. I would help ibut I live in the high desert and that's a nice little drive lol so gl

The diesel conversion is something I am thinking about long term. I would like to have that runner, as it is already done. Looks like he did a great job. Was kind of disappointed in the mileage as that is the reason I considered doing something like that. That is still aways off and still have alot of studing to do on it.
#254
Terry, not sure why.... Cuz "Truckman" on here did one and he's getting 30/33mpg.... Either this guy didn't count the miles right or it's just that much heavier? That surprised me as well. One thing for sure... it's got 2 TIMES the power... So same mileage/twice the power might be not so bad, eh? haha.
#256
VERY TRUE! Yeah, 4.88's, didn't it say? I believe Truckman, like many who do LS1 or 1UZ swaps end up with 4.10's, MAX? An LS1 with 4.88's would do what, ....40mph max? hahaha. JK, but you get the point.
Sorry Richard... didn't mean for a vicious tangent to take hold here!

Lol Wow I missed out on all these posts yesterday. I'll reply to all you guys later today. First i'd like to share some information with all you guys. Chef i already text you all this last night, but i'll go ahead and tell everyone else.
So my Landlords son(the mechanic) came over with a couple of his tools and vacuum hose pressure/suction tester. This is what went down. HE first looked at the toyota diagram of hoses and agreed they were all connected properly. Then he connected his tester to each and every one of my vacuum lines and seen that the one the lines was completely clogged. That line was the one that goes from my vacuum modulator(Q port) to the "EGR" Sensor; Hence, the "Code 71 EGR FAILURE!!!!!" We both believe that that was the cause to my Check engine light coming on constantly. So within the next few days i need to pick at that with a metal wire to unplug the metal tube where the vacuum lines plug into. Till then i just connected a long vacuum line from the "q-port" on the vacuum mod. to the EGR sensor.
After that i asked him about my "gas chugging" problem and he told me it might be my throttle or whatever. Said its most likely dirty. So we opened it up and this is what we found this:

AS YOU CAN SEE, Where my intake connects to was covered in a layer of guck! and that was just off one swipe of my finger. So he bought some heavy duty carb cleaner and sprayed the hell out of it and scrubbed it clean. I didnt get a chance to snap a "After" shot of the finished job, but i can assure u it was nice and shiny. And we all know "Shiny is good"
Next he adjusted the throttle and the line He said i was origionally staying at about 1100-1200 RPMS where it should have been at 700-800. So after cleaning out all that guck he adjusted it and left me at about 750-800rpms. And it rides so much better now! i feel a huge difference in how the truck takes off too.
His explanation for my gas chugging problem is that the ton of Guck that he showed me in that throttle or intake valve (w/e its called[the part where the picture i took is]) The guck was holding that valve open more then it was supposed to be at causing that open and close valve thing to be slightly more open then where it should be at. Also The cable that pulls when you step on the gas was set way too tight. So by cleaning out all that nasty build up, adjusting the throttle, and that line he said that i should see a humongous difference in my gas mileage.
Doing all this from start to end took us about 3 hours because it was already dark out. Started at about 7-7:30 & finished at about 10:30. Guy charged me $100 for the stuff he bought for the job and the work he did.
I fueled up and reset the Check engine light last night and am now driving it around hoping that my my CEL wont show up anymore and hoping to get more MPG now with that work.
Wish me luck guys
and thanks for reading this essay lol

The mechanic recomended i change my oil and sparkplugs today because of the strong chemical in that Carb cleaner spray that we used to clean out the whoe throttle, etc. Said it was a strong chemical and it should always do an oil change and sparkplug change after doing that job.
So today i replaced my Spark plugs again with the origional "Denso" brand. and changed the oil. I was so mad today. I must have gone to like 5 Auto stores near my parents house and no freekin stores had 10/40 oil. NONE!!! wth. Was like everyone and their grandma doing oil changes today or what. And i had already started the job too lol so i couldnt run my truck to the store so i had to walk to all the darn auto stores. lol so i had to settle on an oil i didnt want. I got 10/30 oil honestly dont know if that is what i should be using. the mechanics recomended me to use 10/40 because its a rebuilt motor. but since i couldnt find it the people at the local parts store recomended this would probably be the next best thing for now till im able to get what i want for my next oil change.
So people tell me... Did i mess up by using the 10/30? Any who next time im gonna give Royal Purple oil a shot 10/40. I hear that is the best for performance and off road use.
And i learned a very good lesson. I LEARNED that this 3vze motor IS SUCH A HARD MOTOR TO WORK WITH!!! i spent a good 3-4 hours just to do a simple oilchange and spark plugs. What the hell right.... The design of this motor placed the oil filter in such a stupid place. it was so hard to get to. and i couldnt take it off with my darn hands. I tried taking it off from the bottom but only had a tiny tight space to work with so that wasnt gonna work. So i removed all the right side of the intake stuff and air filter stuff just to get be able to reach it from the top only to find out that it was still too tight for me to remove. After making the tons of trips back and forth to auto stores and worked on taking off that filter for a good hour and a half i was forced to go all the way back to the damn auto store to get this special "Oil filter removal" tool that connects to any 1/4 wrench. Dude that tool works wonders! Best 8 bucks i ever spent. lol I just never expected it to be so hard to remove. that was ridiculous.
As far as the spark plugs..... ohhh man. You have seen my pix of the whole clusters of vacuum hoses on the left side of my engine. well that was the problem. lol the front 2 on the left were fine. it was the rear spark plug that was giving me so many problems. i had to take off all the hoses move them out of the way. and then that spark plug is pretty hard to get to as well because it is in the far back. Man maybe im just a NEWBIE but i had a hell of a time trying to put the new one back into its place.
I know i complain alot ha haa! but something did make my day today. My last purchase at Autozone gave me enough points for a $20 store credit :Great: yay lol So i went back to the store and bought myself a Haynes Repair Manual. that should have been one of the first things i ever bought. but meh... i have it now so time to start reading up on that book.

Wow, lot's 'o' info!
Glad to hear all that stuff that got done... Great deal, good to hear. Good to have the haynes.... But make sure you save the FSM to your phone or something, too, ya hear?
haha...
Don't be afraid to ask me on bigger jobs, "can you help?".... I'll gladly help out if I'm available/able, Richard. I have all kinds of tools/equipment/compressors/cutters/grinders/drills/special bits/multi-meters/vacuum pumps and gauges, etc., etc. If I can help, I will, ok? Sounds like you're almost good to go.. but if something comes up, and you're strapped... please feel free to ask if you need help, ok? (NOT razzing the guy for charging ya.... he was very fair, NO doubt!.... Just saying, ya know?)
Whatcha doing tomorrow, man?
