Hahahaha! I IMMEDIATELY thought you had a kid... Then laughed even harder at "Dog Graduation", haha... That's cool, man!
..... Just don't tell me you spend 200$ on Dog Therapy, .....or I'ma call the crazy police! haha. Obedience Training HELPED TREMENDOUSLY with my Keeshound! Do they still do the 'toss the choke chain at the butt and then call them like you're rescuing them from a startling tap on the rump' training? hehehe... That REALLY worked to get my dog to ALWAYS come, as she trusted me to rescue her/know what's best for her.
Anyway, sounds good... I hope I can help, and yeah, kinda a bear to get that BVSV swapped out, isn't it? HAVE to remove the intake, eh? Have to drain the coolant a bit most likely, too... and if you do it yourself, use a lil thread sealant(the good kind that's heat and coolant and pressure resistant) on the threads.
I hear ya on the "NEW" part... Even though I'd rather have OEM, this is one I would imagine would be fine for quite a many miles without worry, it's a very basic valve with basic functions.

SO MUCH STUFF TO DEAL WITH JUST TO INSTALL THAT ONE 1.5"x1/2" piece. WTH!
lolAnd btw i didnt spend anywhere near that for the dog obedience. It was only $40 for an 8 week course. it was a hell of a good deal.
Did those Downey Headers make an improvement on your mpg and horsepower when you installed them??? anything noticeably different?

Ahhhh.... I'm curious if that "TOP" portion on yours, like on mine, is called "The Plenum"... Upper intake would be fine, .... I need to at least learn a LIL bit on these... geesh! hahaha.... But anyway, I GETCHA
It's that tight back/under there, eh? Stupid guy who designed that needs to get JUMPED! hahaha.
Ok, .......wow, so it's gotta come off...
haha. Were you hoping to do this, Saturday then?

We dont have to. I kbow the original plan was to install your stereo system and go to a pick ur part. So we can do that.
I wanted to install that piece too. If i cant get the mechanic who installed my motor to install this piece today then I guess I'm gonna have to wait off on it till he can or I get time.

Well, whatever is more pressing, Richard.... I DO NOT HAVE to do anything at this point... And if you need that done, I'll do my best to help you knock it out/maybe look over the rest of the testing procedures/P.O.E. for the cause of your EGR Code. Lemme know if he's doing it asap, k? Hopefully he doesn't make you wait a month? haha...
BTW, Just curious... I think on your 88, the door panels up front are different. Maybe in the back, too(just the 'look' in the rear, not so much the 'pop-rivet locations' ???)
Anyway, lemme know... The stereo/Pick-Your-Part.... neither are pressing, ya know? I wanna help you out if I can... Many hours were spent by others helping me out... Pay it forward, man, ...ya know?

PS> Surprised he didn't 'notice' that, ya know? It's one of a few hook ups that most would see... And especially in the 'hidden' areas. NOT doggin him, just curious... But, I guess it's not gonna help to make him think you're suggesting 'he did it', hahaha... I'm just a curious guy, I guess. lol.

Sounds good bro. Honestly, i think he might have done it. and probably just hid the hose in the back. Could have been because i was pressuring him by checking up on him so often during the last few days of the rebuild. its possible he wanted to just get it out of the way. lol
But when i called him that day when the mechaic at autozone told me about the piece being broken he seemed to know what hose and connection i was talking about. he said he'd put it in for me. I mean im not pointing fingers but he sure seemed to know right off the bat what i was talking about. kinda fishy ya know. but eh... im getting it fixed, and i got a hell of a deal either way with this guy so its all good. Just wish he would have said something so i could have bought the part before he installed that instake manifold and wasted a good set of gaskets.
As far as that other mechanic that i went to yesterday(close to home) he said the installation process would take 2-3 hours. GLAD I DIDNT DO IT WITH HIM THOUGH!
I specifically told this guy I wanted to have the BVSV installed; I called and told him the location is in the rear of the motor and that the manifold had to be removed because it was a tight spot to work with. He asked what color is it. I replied its a blue one. And then he said Ok i know which one it is. He then gave me an estimate and said it'd be $45 and it would take 1.5-2 hours. I figured it wasnt too bad of a price considering the trouble you gotta go through just to get to the damn thing. So i dropped the truck off with the new BVSV. And then upon arriving home they guy called me back and told me, "OH I THOUGHT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT THE VSV Thats above the fender Not the BVSV in the back of the motor."
I was like wtf....? i specifically told you which one needed to be done and why the manifold would need to be taken off. Ok now, you remember all those sensors (the set of 3; blue green, and red) that i replaced myself. That guy thought i was talking about that. DUDE I INSTALLED THOSE THINGS IN LIKE 5-10 minutes. and this guy was planning on taking 2 hours and charging $45 for that!?!? lol
HE told me yea man for that job it will have to be about 130 because its more work and more time. I was like Oh hell no nvm, this guy is trying to milk me for my cash. I wont ever go to him again. I asked for a full refund and left the place.
Told him I'd do it myself or have the guy that rebuilt my motor to do it. But seriously, that guy had serious balls to say he was gonna charge me $45 for what he thought i was talking about. $45 to do a quick 5-10minute job that all it is is taking 2 nuts off and unscrewing one screw. then putting it back on. LMAO!
AND THIS IS WHY YOU DONT LET THE LAZINESS TAKE OVER; DO IT YOURSELF OR YOU WILL GET JIPPED. I'm gonna see what this other mechanic will charge to do it for me. HE might do it for free. but we'll see. i gotta call him during my lunch.

Dude, tell him, "NOT EVEN saying you broke it... Even by accident and didn't know... I just need it fixed... I would gladly send more work your way... You did a great job! I just am BROKE! Can I pay you over time for the labor/and I'll bring all the parts to you????...PLEASE? I would have had you do it if you'd told me if was broken, man." .....
Honestly, ...that's pretty lame for him to give it back like that... C'mon, it's a big enough valve that HAS TO BE hooked back up upon re-installation... You shouldn't have to pay for labor at all, Richard, to be honest. If that were me who'd miss that... I'd feel odd asking you to pay labor for something I MISSED! I'm sure he's a good dude that's just overwhelmed/trying to make it... But man... that's a BIG "oops". No where near like missing a wrist pin or something... But then, that'd be on him too, now wouldn't it?

I get you. Well I just got off the phone with him and he said the soonest he can get to it would be monday. So looks like we might have a lil' project coming up this weekend after all.
#210
Thanks man. I still have a ways to go. But I'm 1/2 way there. Everything I've done on this thread so far is just to get it running the way it should. After im done with that(hopefully within the next week or end of july) Then ill begin with the REAL FUN STUFF! which is collecting the rest of what im missing for my SAS, lift, and gears/lockers Pretty much all the major off road upgrades. If i had all the cash now i would pre order everything just to have all this stuff ready

Weekend Project? .......... Meaning........... sounds? Pick-Your-Part? hahaha. Oh well, Monday is soon enough.... as long as he doesn't mean "Monday, August 20th"!!! hehe... I know, not funny.... but I'm sure he'll wanna get it done and be through with that for a while, ya know?
#213
Yea This weekend meaning your sounds. and/or pick ur part.
Well got some Good/bad news. It's almost like a bitter-sweet incident that happened this morning on my way to work. Was driving my 2000 Toy corolla. And was at an intersection, my light was green so im going. And the crossing street has one of those little island thingies on the right hand side where they can Stop/yield and continue their turn when its clear.
Well 2 cars had cut me off as they merged into my lane and the 3rd guy who was traveling very closely to them must have thought he was also gonna make it. I dont know why he thought a loaded 94 toy pickup work truck would be able to outspeed my awesome Corolla but he sure as hell wasnt even close to passing me up lol As soon as i seen he wasnt gonna try stop I decided to try to speed up because i saw a crash coming and i wanted to pass him up to avoid the collision. SOOO I down shifted to 2nd and pumped the clutch to take off faster. And although my mind was in the right place I didn't take into consideration he was gonna speed up as well(what a moron, he didnt even bother try slowing down) So I ended up missing a big hit to my passenger side doors and front fender but I wasn't fast enough to completely get out of his way. So he hit my passenger side rear bumper. The hit wasn't as bad as it would have been if I hadn't sped up. It was just a few small scratches. But my point is that it could have been ugly. If I didn't speed up and he would have kept driving the way he did then the whole passenger side would have been dented in from the front fender all the wayto maybe both doors. But because I sped up I missed a lot of the damage. Speeding up made me catch up to about the same speed he was traveling at so when he hit it wasn't like a huge hit we pretty much just road together as he hugged my rear right end for a bit until we both pulled over. Pretty much he just merged into me.
So that's the bitter part...
The good sweet part is since the damage isn't too bad and I wanna get another jump start on my truck. Depending on what I get off my claim I am gonna fix up my truck some more.
If I get over 1000 ill put it toward the truck. If its only those cheap amounts like "here's $400 and we'll give u more if the body shop needs it" then screw it I'm just gonna order a new bumper and have them install it with a matching paintjob. Won't be worth keeping the cash for only 3-400 ya know. I'd be better off fixing the whole rear on the car considering they'll charge a hell of alot more then that petty small amount. But if its 900-2000 u can bet ur a$$ that I'ma be ordering the missing links to my SAS kit lol.
Oh and get this... The all of the paper work the guy gave me for insurance and registeration was all expired in 2011. And it was all under somebody else's name(which he claimed was his wife). And.... He had no CA I.D or drivers license. He had a republic of Honduras I.D. Either way just in
case, I'm glad I have uninsured motorists on my insurance.
I'm just glad I was driving the car not my truck. Although my car is in better looking/working/running condition then my truck is I love the truck more. That's my baby right there. The good ol' yotatech addiction lol I just feel more sensitive about my truck then my car that's all.

Hahahahaha!
Where else can you go to a bud's thread and read a "TOTALLY TOYOTA COLLISION" tale with Honduran Uninsured drivers and 'Ronin' Style Defensive Driving.... and it's a full on story? Glad you're ok... What happened to him?(What I mean is, ... did they hold him accountable????)
Anyway.... SOUNDS GOOD on the Saturday stuff, man. I will have an answer in the next couple hours
(I TOLD YOU it was always 'last minute' for me! haha...)... But it's VERY likely
I'll give you a call or text in a lil bit, k?

HE was perfectly fine. I called my insurance this morning when i arrived to work. The adjuster needs to call the other guys insurance to find out whats gonna happen. But reguardless. That guy is at fault because he didnt stop when he had a Red light. Even if it was a Stop/yield section off to the side. I still had the right to go because my light was green. And it was green far before he ever got to the intersection lol
If the car wasnt insured Ill be covered because of uninsured motorists. And if it is insured then ill still be covered because of their liability. But if something happens where they dont pay, then my insurance wont cover it because i dont have collision coverage. (i dont have full coverage; i only have Liability and Uninsured motorist) So Now im just waiting to see what the outcome will be.
LETS HOPE FOR THE BEST AND HOPE I GET A GOOD $1300-1900+ for this accident. I wanna get my parts ordered. ha haa!

ALRIGHT GUYS GOT SOME GOOD TRUCK NEWS.
Went to the Dealership again yesterday and bought 2 parts. They came in this morning.
I asked the Tech What exactly do these parts work with. He said it has to do with egr. and works with the gas vapor. Pretty much helps out the carbon canister. So When i heard that i got happy. When these 2 parts are installed and i finally get around to installing my BVSV i am honestly hoping that my trucks mpg will go up. SERIOUSLY HOPING! but main thing is that i hope the Check Engine Light Problem is solved with these 2 parts and that BVSV replaced.
Not a big update but HERE ARE THE PARTS:

Rear Window Button.
OH AND ANOTHER THING I DID. Yesterday i went ahead and installed that rear window button that i posted up a few pages back. IT still has a problem though. See the problem i had with the original button was that i was able to bring the window down when i'd push down, but my up button wouldnt work. So if i wanted to put it back up i would have to run around to the back of the truck and use my key lol.
So For the mean time i had been using a Toyota camery Door window up/down switch. It worked fine. but when the lights would turn on the window would automatically go up lol. not to mention it was ugly with all the wires sticking out.
Here is a pic so u better understand.
Toyota Camery button:

Toyota Camery Button Installed:

And here is my new(used) button and already fitted in the middle comepartment area:

This button works both up and down from inside the truck. but i ran across a new problem with it.
- To go DOWN it works fine but the window lock has to be pushed in.
- To go UP the window lock has to be out and the headlights need to be turned on.
The window wont have any probems if i mess with my headlights at night. For example if i wanna leave my window down and have the lights on; i can still do that. I just have to do that process to make it work for some reason. i really down know why though.
I know its a lame update but i figured id give you guys something to look at and read. IM NOT GETTING LAZY! Just havent gotten the money to get the good stuff yet.

HUGE vacuum leak, once again^^^^..... SOLVED!
That is VERY much going to make a difference, Richard... Having 2 decent ports not resisting/fully open to pull in vacuum? BIG TIME NO-NO on the "Mileage" dept. Unmetered air will read at the 02... which will then say, "AHH HAHHHHHH, look at all this O2.... time to DUMP FUEL!" .... or at least I THINK that's what it would say...........if it could talk........ you get the point! hahaha.
On my rig, there is also a valve assembly like that which has a part in controlling "IDLE UP FOR A/C and Power Steering." It's right on my plenum..... In the FSM, they call that valve the A.S. Valve Could mean "Assembly Solenoid".... not sure, but it is right there with the Fuel Pressure Unit-VSV and EGR-VSV.... Not sure, but you could even have the code due to those vacuum leaks, alone.... The EGR needs a minimal vacuum pressure to operate. The motor, to a certain point, will just say, "Ahhhh, air, let's go!" lol..... But then you loose the ability to maintain a minimal vacuum... And it also COULD cause you to stay in open loop/limp mode, which DEFINITELY wastes more gas, for one... and secondly, CAUSES BAD STINKIES ON THE SNIFF TEST OF THE SMOG TESTING!
And.................... far as tomorrow, I can get free, but probably not til after 10am or so. I'll know in the AM, so I'll hit you up earlier(only if you want, of course) if I can get out sooner
Either way, by 10am... I can either head to the yards or you could just head over here
I will text you in a lil bit, Richard... and again, FIRST OFF, ........glad you're not injured/that it wasn't more serious!!! NEVER KNOW how careless/stressed/drunk/stupid the guy next to you might be!

PS> NOT positive... But pretty sure I have a spare 'Back Window' button....I need one of what I think is two to wire it in for a 'constant hot/hidden' button in the back, so when I sleep back there I can let myself out without having to crawl up and mess with the key, etc... BUT, I figure I could find another one if I only have one and you need it til you find your own? I grab that kind of stuff at the yards EVERY time I see them, including relays, etc., etc.., etc.! OH, and interesting how different your lil console thingy is there... with a dish, etc. My dish is more of a deeper thingy, hahaha.

I will text you in a lil bit, Richard... and again, FIRST OFF, ........glad you're not injured/that it wasn't more serious!!! NEVER KNOW how careless/stressed/drunk/stupid the guy next to you might be!
That is VERY much going to make a difference, Richard... Having 2 decent ports not resisting/fully open to pull in vacuum? BIG TIME NO-NO on the "Mileage" dept. Unmetered air will read at the 02... which will then say, "AHH HAHHHHHH, look at all this O2.... time to DUMP FUEL!" .... or at least I THINK that's what it would say...........if it could talk........ you get the point! hahaha.

And 2nd lets hope you're right. I'm gonna fill my tank up again tomorrow and give it the nice MPG test when i reach empty. See if it goes from 200to a tank to something like 300 or something. I still gotta buy the longer vacuume hose to connect to the Carbon cansiter to the other part but i think it'll be worth a try bypassing that BVSV till i am able to get around to installing the darn piece
3rd. Thanks for the concern. im glad im ok. But honestly i really am happy i didnt take my truck to work today. that would have hurt me much more lol
and 4th Lookin' forward to seeing your rig in person tomorrow finally. And see if i can find those side panels for the back of the truck. maybe jack a few toyota screws. Get a new middle part where the stereo goes. And last but not least get a replacement windshield wiper water container; mine is broken and drops all the water as soon as it goes in.
