I think I figured out the fuel supply issue...

irab88's 1993 PickUp Build-Up Thread-bfg4ov6.jpg

Pickup clogged with all the old bits of strainer

But back on the road, definitely more pep.

I have been seeing more and more people post fuel pumps that look like yours.

Yuck!

Yuck!

I mean, this truck is only a quarter century old... practically brand new!

This is an important update: I have done almost nothing to the truck in about 2 years. That is all.

Some minor things:
- Patched the gaping hole around the shifters. I want to re-do the tunnel in the future, but it's painted and 90% covered for now.
- Replaced the parking brake cable that snapped a few weeks ago. Old one rusted through.
- Designed and printed tube door mirror clamps. The old mirrors broke when I moved and the new ones had clamps too large for the doors. So I made some that fit:

And that's about it. Now back to our regularly scheduled hiatus.

Nice job Ian!
they have some 3D printers in some of the labs at work but wouldn't have a clue if they let me have access.

Okay I only have the mobile site so I'm jumping in to pose a question for anyone who may have had this problem. Swapped out the engine in my 97 4x4 T100 and had to repair the transmission dip stick tube. I cleaned the trans pan and replaced the fluid, again. I filled the transmission fluid with dex3 and now it won't move in any gear. Would me changing the computer over from my two wheel drive cause this?? Someone please help me, I really need my truck. Been out of work from governor HALFWITTMER extending the needles quarantine in Michigan and now I can work and have no truck. Going to change the computer now in a hail Mary. Will update if this works.

This is a build thread, for my pickup, 1993, with what was a 22R-EC engine, replaced with a 5VZ-FE, from a 4Runner, all with manual transmission, which was also swapped at one point with another manual and dual cases.

This is the wrong place to post a help question about your truck. The mobile site isn't that hard to navigate. Try clicking here and starting a new topic, where you've already posted: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f132/

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

This week is a vacation week! Even though everything is closed, we're still taking the week off and staying indoors with copious amounts of junk food and internet.

The truck is doing well. Had a fuel leak on the soft line just before the return port on the tank. Nothing but some reduced gas mileage for a day, then fixed. I'm trying to drive it once a week, but it has a driveline vibe (probably from the driveshaft). I'll need to balance it sometime soon, but it's good for now. And another thing I'd like to do is make some half-door/tube-door hybrid with snap-in canvas. I like the tube doors, but they aren't great for when it's just a little too chili in the morning.

This heat is making me sweat my butt off, and without AC in the truck, it's been sitting for some time now. If only...

Good news and bad... Some of the stuff fits, some doesn't, and some is almost there...

What fits with no issues:
-compressor
-high-side flex line
-low-side flex line

What doesn't fit, and what I plan to do:
-evaporator: the housing is different, so I'm planning on swapping the fittings from the new one to the old one, if I can find my brazing equipment
-high-side hard line: it fits, but doesn't line up with any holes in the front core. need to cut a hole.
-drier: bracket has no holes, need to drill baby drill
-evaporator: too far back. I don't know if I should cut into the core support to move it forward, but it's hitting the radiator as it sits
-fan: pickups didn't come with fans, so there's no provision for it. I'll probably end up modifying the housing to smash it in there somewhere

Lesson: 4runners and pickups have much different AC systems, m-kay?

pictures time:

After sleeping on it, I'm going to modify the system to fit. It's a few small things, but should work fine. First, I'm going to cut the bottom of the core support in a half-inch and re-weld the lip on for the condenser to sit. If I rotate the drier bracket and make mounting points for it, I can keep it from pushing too far forward. The evaporator will be re-used, but the connectors are stripped. I'll find a way to attach the good fittings from the '95 evaporator. And for the hard line from the drier to evaporator, I might either make a new one re-using the fittings, or look for a soft line alternative. I think that covers all the major issues, but I'm sure more will arise.

Good luck to you! It looks like a project that will hopefully be worth it in the end.

No work on it this weekend, but I did order a few parts for this coming weekend, hopefully.

Also found this: cracking body lift. Probably not too safe? It's a 2 inch 4-Crawler kit.

How old is that body lift??? I just ordered a 1 inch body lift from 4crawler so I'm wondering how long it will last now.

I put it on when I did the swap, so about 6 years old. I want to do something different for the body lift; either move the mounts up, lower the body, or... blocks and braces? Not sure yet. His aluminum kit might be better, especially for long term.

So I got some metal for replacing the back 4 lift blocks. Still working out particulars, but need to cut and drill. More to come.

Glad to see you still posting on here, I miss the old forums and all the good information/discussions.
anyhow, I notice my lift is also doing the same thing, and it’s also a 4Crawler. Probably a good idea to replace them, but as long as the bolts are good should be safe.
im still plugging away at my swap, determining the best possible location to stuff the engine is taking a bit longer than expected. I wish I was already doing the wiring.

I'm not 100% sure the bolts are fine. I had to tighten a few of them. McMaster-Carr has SAE equivalents in grade 8, so I got a bunch of those.

More to come.
