Oof. It's been a while. Adult responsibilities took precedence, but I'm back at it:

This weekend's progress:

Was about to test fit the mounts, then realized they weren't painted, and probably wouldn't want to take them off once I had them mounted.

Primer, followed by some burgundy I wanted to try out.

Test-fit nicely, I purposely didn't paint the bottom because I knew I would have to weld under there. Once it's all done, more paint!

And finally, tacked in with the mig (FC) and fitted with all hardware (not tight yet).

I have a few washers for the bottom coming this week. I still have to do the driver's side, but now I know how to go about it. Cut the old mounts off, clean up, new mounts in, tack weld, new hardware. I don't have confidence in my abilities to TIG upside-down yet, so I may look for some outside help on that. For now, it'll support its own weight.

Damn I miss driving this thing.

And on to yesterday's progress. I actually got everything done Friday that I planned to! That's a first!

As long as I'm working on my truck, no one can say NOTHIN' about the mess.

And old bolts out! Spent a good deal of time with the oscillation tool and HF-Dremel clone. The bolts spot-welded on the bottom were persuaded to vacate the area by Mr. Hammer and Mrs. Chisel, surprisingly easy.

The rear one had different nuts and bolts than the other 3; It had flanged hex nuts spot-welded in 3 places, as opposed to the others with square nuts tacked in 4 places.

Eh, I think I could get another 100k out of these bad boys...

I'm not doing the front mounts due to how they're a hair different, and they aren't taking a brunt of the weight. I did want to change out the hardware, and found out that the 7/16-20 grade-8 bolts I already had fit nicely. A 7/16-20 x 5" would be perfect for a 2" lift, but I ordered 6" and 4" for the main mounts. So I'll see if I can get the 6" to work for now.

Maybe this weekend (doubt it, but we'll see) I can get this side tacked in. That'll be some good progress.

Both sides got tacked in and torqued this weekend. Engine is back together and front back on. Today I'm stopping by to get a new battery (old one went to the celica) and finishing a few last things. The goal is to drive it before the weekend.

pictures soon

Moar big piktures

No labels, just pics. I'm tired and have grownup paperwork to look at.

I'll be driving her in to work tomorrow, I'm excited for that. Been a WHILE.

The body mounts were fine, and I'm still loving the 3.4 swap. But the steering and suspension... ugh. I need to overhaul them, mostly new bushings and shocks.

Also, the brake light is on, not sure what's up with that.

Brake light is connected to the parking brake and brake fluid level circuit. Either a switch is bad on the park brake or you’re low on fluid. Not sure if the light will stay on if you have a wiring issue, or something not plugged in.

Not much on the truck in a while. It's still driving fine, and even helping with a move. I need new tires, and I think I'll be going 31's or 30's. Other than that, the goal is to get it more reliable. I have the steering all squared away, now I'd like to lower it a little and clean it up.

however

I've taken on a new muse:

Sad to see projects go. It was fun following along with you. I hope the next one is just as fun.
