Yeah, when i start loosetraction in the rear i get bad axle wrap. I called a guy on CL today selling chevy springs, he had just sold the rear 63's yesterday......and he sold them cheap, $75 front, $150 rear off a newer truck too. Ill have to just keep looking.
Good luck with the axle, i did the same thing with my Samurai for like 8 months, leak leak add, leak leak add, lol.

So quick Build Update.
I now have just over 500 miles on the new engine, and have noticed a few things that are going on.
Rear coolant plate on the back of the head it seeping a little oil down the back of the block. This is more of a pain in the A$$ than anything else, as it drips a few spots in my driveway.
Probably going to pull the pan again on the next oil change just to do another once over and reseal the pan even better this time to ensure a lifetime of no leaks.
As it started getting colder I noticed that my AAV was not kicking up the idle upon start up in the mornings or after work. I took a closer look at the Valve and noticed that I had the coolant lines backwards on the valve. Not that I think this matters, simply because they both feed to the same element that detects the coolant temp. So I switched them back and still no luck, Tried tapping on the side and no luck. I figured that the valve was stuck closed.
Anyhow, I decided to take my borescope and take a little peeky peek at the inside with the front vacuum tube from the TB removed. And sure enough it was closed shut completely!! Found my problem. Also, before I did this I even Ohmed it out and it was within spec.
So me, being the Hoarder of toyota parts, I knew I had a spare valve at the house. I dug it out of my ever growing Yota pile, and took a look at the valve at room temp. It was as it should be, just slightly opened. (was about 58-60 degrees in there) So I decided to test it out before I just went balls deep and swapped it out. Tossed in in the freezer for roughly 15 minutes and the valve was completely opened up!!!!!! Let her warm back up to room temp and closed to just partially open!!! WIN
Got everything swapped out yesterday and had a nice warmup and idle kickup in the driveway this morning when it was in the 20's!!!
Heres a crappy cell pic I tried to take of the bad AAV. You can see that it is totally closed.

Thanks rich. I got the AAV swapped out yesterday and all squared away.
The oil leak, Im hoping that its the new VC gasket or the Half moon in the rear. It just started leaking but not terribly bad. So we will see.

Hey buddy. Im pretty sure my rear main is leaking. or something screwy is going on with my VC.
I replaced the VC gasket and I still see oil on the rear plate on the back of the head?? which has me puzzled. And oil is covering the driveshaft and rear cross member. Which also has me puzzled. Its like oil is coming out under pressure when I am driving.
I am about to mount a GoPro camera underneath just to see whats going on.

Well I now have close to 700 miles on the rebuild and "knock on wood" everything seems to be going as it should. Runs great and actually does have a noticeable power increase. Especially 3-3600 rpm.
I still need to mount the homemade sliders that I built last year, and I also want to take out the interior and lay down some raptor liner inside.

I really hate snow all over the vehicles and dirty floor mats all winter long......But, I really really love driving my runner in it also. I want to drive up a nasty snow pile!!

but being 17, just bought a new 3rd gen runner. In debt to the bank of mom and dad 900$, only because of tires. Maybe when I'm older my dream will come true!

I wanna see those sliders.
