Tested out the BFG's tonight. Haha. Not really I just drove up my hill in the back yard

Hard to see the wife took the pic. But I drove it up the hill and turned around and creeped down in 4low

IT is pretty nice having it. Especially since I did the Bore over and cam. Has a little more power to hold 5th gear going up long hills. Well, hills in Nebraska. If I lived back in PA i would be down shifting to 2nd. Hahaha

Man, looking at your dash makes me want an SR5 instrument cluster that much more! It would be nice to have a tachometer, and temp and volt meter, I hate idiot lights! The only thing that's has me wondering is what oil pressure sending unit to use, I don't know if the factory toyota one would work with my 302 V8...

Cruise control sure would be nice too!

Im fairly positive the factory sending unit would work just fine. Its just reading the pressure. Ive read where people have done it successfully on 4.3 swaps. I plan to just run a mechanical guage when I do my 4.3 swap tho. I like looking at numbers on a guage, not H and L or H and C (for water temp) lol.

Build is looking good bro. I hear ya on being stagnant due to saving up. I'm in the same boat. Problem is there are too many options for me to spend my saved money on!

I would be willing to be that it would work. I agree on the dash. This is the first Toyota I have owned that was an SR5. All my others were the dlx with no gauges. Kind of scary driving and not knowing what is going on. If I could find a way to mount mechanical gauges without looking goofy, I would. So I could know actual temps and pressures.

Haha. Totally. Too many things that I want. And sometimes I try to sit down and think about wants vs needs. But that still doesnt help me determine what to buy and what to save for.

Thanks for the compliments. Your rig is coming along nicely as well.

I think you are right with the gauges working. I also would rather see actual temps and pressures rather than a letter.

That's good to know, yeah I keep going back and forth on running aftermarket mechanical gauges or doing the SR5 gauge swap.

I hear ya, I like to know what's going on, I currently have mechanical gauges, but they're miss matched, and not very high quality, and like you said its hard to find a place to mount them that doesn't look goofy. I don't have an inclinometer, I thought about finding a broken one with a good housing and mounting my gauges in it for a more factory appearance, or going with one of those A-piller gauge pods from TruckPillars http://www.truckpillars.com/page0/page0.html but then I wonder if that would put the gauges so close to you that it would be distracting when night driving, plus it kinda has that Ricey " Fast and Furious" look, lol. The price they want for a nice SR5 cluster on eBay, I could get a nice set of mechanical gauges, but would still need a tach, what to do, what to do, lol. Sorry for the thread hijacking!

Thanks, I've seldom seen them on CL in my area, and don't have any pick-n-pulls near me either...

Just did a valve adjustment this morning. Everything was in spec and looked good. Only the #4 intake valve needed a little adjustment. I love how easy it is to adjust the valves on these engines
