Wow!!! I can see why you think that is a huge mistake. Great looking truck and it would be handy to have.

Not much going on here either. I am desperately trying to find time to get my front axle tore down and do the seals and bearings before the snow comes. And unfortunately that is coming sooner than later.

I also have to address some more rust that has formed since last winter. Did I mention that I hate rust!!!

I'm not looking forward to winter at all, this summer went by so fast! The leaves are already starting to change color, its gone from high 90's a couple weeks ago to low 60's - 70's and rainy. I still have projects I was hoping to have finished this summer, that I haven't even worked on yet! Rant off, lol.

Sorry to hear about the rust, it seems like its a continuous battle trying g to stop/prevent it, hope its not to bad!

About the only thing I like about winter is I can quit working on lawn mowers. Even the new ones are junk. I hope to be in better conditions for this winter. I made getting the shop more insulated. Rust can take off so quick. I have a few spots on my truck and hoping I can get it stopped before it gets bad. Hope everyone has a warm winter. The last two have been rough.

Winter always seems to slow things down for me. Not looking forward to it.

What I should do is wire wheel the whole frame down and por15 it.

The biggest concern is a little rust popping on my rear fender tub. I'm afraid if I let it go over winter it will rapidly grow.

I hear you there. I work on my fair share of mowers and tractors. Gets ok after a summer of repairs.

I agree on the rust. If I do not take care of the little spots, I am afraid they will expand greatly through the winter.

Glad you got the garage setup better to handle the cold. It's always nice to stay warm and work on the vehicles inside when there's snow on the ground

You can knock that axle out in half a day within two people...
And yes, rust is a bummer unless its a rat rod, then its sweet!!

Went to the junkyards today and did not have any luck. Typical Omaha yards. Everything that looked decent was destroyed by someone looking for a part.

I know I have expressed this before, but makes me disgusted to see when people do this.

Here was a decent 2nd gen bed that someone cut the front half off and left it.

Did have nice fenders though. Surprisingly

Same truck had the tranny tore out with everything just laying out in the weather to fill up with water. Not sure what they were after here.

Found a 1st gen SR5 that was destroyed. Someone literally ripped the dash apart to get to the gauge cluster.

Typical cars in the yards here. Full of junk and personal stuff of the previous owner. Literally like they were living out of it and decided they were done and left all their crap in it.

One funny thing was that I found 3 Toyota tool kit bags there today. All empty. I was hoping one of. them would be complete. But no luck.

Maybe more luck next time.

One of my old students works at a paint shop part time while in college. He said that he would mix me up some paint for my runner. This stuff is nice!! Name: B6CEB947-D890-4D85-894A-D27A7EFFB116_zps9ayajdqf.jpg

That sucks that all the descent parts were destroyed, can't believe the lack of respect for property that some people display.

That white fender looked pretty nice, Chris should grab it for a replacement for his runner!

I like the color your student mixed up, looks really good!

It really is a shame. Everything is just torn to pieces.

I looked for some newer xj's for that hood latch but had no luck. I might be able to go this coming weekend again and see if anything shows up from now until then.

I think the color turned out pretty close to the factory gray. It's pretty decent paint. Goes on nice

Idiots destroying parts is frustrating. I have spent some time on trucks coming in to disassemble them just to keep them from getting destroyed by some one needing a part. Also keeps it fresh in my mind on how to disassemble them right when I need to do it on one of mine.

hey man, finally went through your build thread, nice work on the runner!
Here in denver there are 2 yards dedicated exclusively to toyoa trucks/4runners, so its nice that we can go grab about anything we need, but the other edge of the sword is that everything is $$$
