P.S. Tires stay on 15x8s a lot better than 15x10s...kinda like a poor man's beadlock.

Nice tires!

Incredible work man, gets me motivated to start working on the '85 that I will soon have.

I was debating on whether to just go with some 15x8's and leave the wheel spacers on or go with 15x10's.
I'll be running 35x12.50-15 BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's.

Looks awesome man,

Fink
Thanks Fink: The truck does seem to wander a bit more with the wider rims..
so not totally sold on that wide of rim. If I ever get the IFS rear end I will probably end up having to find a set of fender flares...these things stick out a bid now..add another 1.5" on each side and I think the sheriff might pay more attention to me

Nice tires!

Yep, I know the 'argument' about 15x8's vs. 15x10's. I still have a set of 15x8's steelies in the shed that might get a set of Dave's DIY beadlocks.

They fill out the wheel wells nicely 5.29's are now a priority

It was a good deal though, spent the afternoon up the Columbia River Gorge with the missus just bumming around till it was time to meet the guy...You should have seen his FJ--AWESOME!

thanks Al, I am pretty happy with the outcome, we both came out of the trade with what we wanted...I can't pull Cooper Mountain as easy as I used to though.
If you hear of some 5.29 thirds cheap give me a ring

well I just found some those and some dirty 30 axles for a great deal so..

want help pull the front end apart in a month or so?

The frigging idle issue was driving me nuts...I had no luck with it so I dropped it off at a local shop...when I get it back I am taking the Trekker back down to Mt. Angel for some Cage work

since I traded my 33's for a set of 35's and I plan to actually wheel this thing occasionally, my accountant, aka 'the missus' approved some updgrades compliments of my friend Brian at Wabfab for what is now gonna become my daily driver:

in an effort to avoid breaking something like this and to lighten my spare parts load by 50 lbs:

(broken birf pic borrowed from google)
ordered a set of chromoly dirty 30's from trail-gear...i know the whole longfield debate...these were in the budget and allowed me to do some other stuff..
dirty 30 compared to my spares:

quite a bit beefier and a lifetime/no ?'s guarantee
5.29's , master install kit's and solid pinion sleeve should put the RPM's back into a more friendly range...and my double low first gear crawl ratio goes from 163:1 to 220:1

truck is going down for the full cage install this afternoon..hopefully have it back and this stuff installed in time for the 2nd Annual YT get together out at browns the end of this month

Edit: oh and Brian: I hope your back is feeling better

will do, saved a few bucks which put it in my price range etc...helped too when my wife said OK guess she got tired of me saying, "well you know with the front end apart for the re-gear now would be the time.. and the 35's will destroy a stock birf"

well just got back from an extended camping trip, wish i was till gone

anyway, the guy doing my cage had a burst appendix so he was out of action for a while. Knew it would take him longer than he said it would. guess going to the hospital for a couple of days and than recovery is a good excuse...Gears and Dirty 30's are done.

well, if i don't go boating this weekend i'll be fixin the heep.... then next weekend we'll have to go wheelin! i've been getting the itch (and i'm pretty sure its not crabs this time) to go wheeling.

btw, 'can opener' is changing, i'm trying to get up there to take a look. unfortunately all our club work parties with ODF are on saturdays so i cannot attend them. couple of weeks and it will be a whole new trail...

I am thinking you will be out on the river

that is awesome your club works with ODF...it is appreciate. Curious to see what they come up with for the trail.

Stopped by a garage sale-guy had some Brat Seats that would be perfect for the back..but $200 not what I expected

have fun on the river!

rear disc brake kit

forgot about this smoking deal that I picked up from a local trekker bud, Paul.
a sky's rear disc kit. I have got one core caliper and have a lead on another one...hopefully have it mounted sometime before the end of the summer (2010 maybe)
