Made a mess. Okay, really I got the wiring done from the locker to the door sill.

I noticed that the existing plug had 4 wires that were also in my locker harness but not used for the locker. I took the wires out of the old connector male and female and put them in the 'new' male and female connectors.

That equals just one connector instead of two.

There was also half a black connector next to the locker connector that had ground wires running to it. I ran the two grounds for the locker to it using the other connector half that I had grabbed from the junkyard.

And the whole mess fits on a plastic doo-dad that snaps into place and holds everything safely out of the way.

I wonder if it's the Limited's that were pre-wired for lockers?

I would say it turned out a lot cleaner!

Did you happen to take any additional photos of the light bulb and plastic key surround? I need to get back in there on my own '96 SR5 and replace the t-shaped white plastic insert, but I'm not exactly sure where it goes, and so I was wondering whether it would be obvious once I take apart the dash...?

hrt4me- lemme look and see what I've got.
Edit: Well, the last pic was about as much pic of the ignition as I took. However, I will be opening it back up soon to finish off my locker wiring and to work on my next project so I can get pics then. Should be pretty easy to figure out, if it's the part I'm thinking of. 4 10mm bolts on the bottom panel and the piece over the ignition switch carefully pops off.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rained all day today but I still got into an impromptu and necessary for my sanity project. Several days ago the blower motor suddenly started sounding like an aircraft.
Remove kick panel, unplug blower motor, unscrew 3 T-25 torx screws, blower motor complete with cage will come straight down and out. I've got pics of this somewhere on the thread- post 2 for contents. Anyway, found the why:

Seeds, dirt, pine needles, oak blooms, and a dried out wet-wipe? Maybe it found a bit of mousie nest to suck up somewhere.

I've seen pics from people who clean out their blower and find the mouse and the nest. I'm glad yours had no animals in there.

Hahaha, that would have been surprising- and cute. Still, I think I had better draw the line at pet spiders.

The first clue would be the fan still going when the switch was off...

It went lock. unlock. lock. unlock. today. Still not quite done with the wiring yet. More later.

Not too much. Trying to make the instrument panel switch light work. Hubby's suggested a relay so that's what I'm going to try. Otherwise it's just putting everything together and using the diagrams in my links + some figuring of my own. Got home a little later in the day than intended (trail build, go figure) but it's still about done. Hopefully those aren't famous last words...

Finally:
Assembly. You can see the bulb, the socket just keys in. Below the bulb you can see the black plastic has a hole in it.

This hole is where the t-shaped piece fits:

See the hole just to the lower right and behind where the key goes in?

Slide plastic bit down until the corresponding holes align:

And push it in. On mine the fit is pretty loose but that's okay because the surround keeps it in.

That piece of trim is held in by clips and pops off once you get the lower panel loose.

And that's probably about 4 pics too many for explaining but there you go.

And did I mention?

Got it! No locker ECU, no pre-wiring, lots of help from a few threads and wiring schematics. It wouldn't have gone so well without the willingness of others to share what they've done.

I'm very sure you did just fine! Have you driven it with the lockers engaged?

I've verified that it's locking-and unlocking- but actual driving test? Not yet. Gotta get it off pavement to do that. Soon!

I figured you'd had it out around the garden area by now for a test drive. lol.
So, that is where the ignition ring light sits. Guess I better replace the burned out bulb in mine sometime soon.

The beginning of my own wiring info, gathered in bits from a few sites, consolidated and redrawn from my notebook with a few of my notes:

I guess it wouldn't be the first time I was out driving around the yard.
