Trimmed the home made mud flaps to go with the 4xInnovations bumper. May have to get something to cover below the bumper. Don't have to have them, but don't want to throw any rocks at anybody, either. Will have to see how bad it is. Will also have to see if CO UT IL KS and OK are mudflap states too, I guess? Or does it not matter if I'm out of state...I forget these things...
Got a 4" drop/rise 6" hitch extender to get the bike rack to work with the spare tire. It was the shortest length I could get and fits about perfect in that direction. Low for everyday will allow the spare carrier to open with the bike rack on (no bikes), high for those bumpy bumpy roads we sometimes get to take though the rack would have to come off if I wanted to open the hatch. I'd still rather have a left-hand swing away rack, I think, but this'll do for now.
Got rid of the nasty squeaky-squarky Michelin wiper blades. Man, did I ever dislike those things!
Now I have Silblade WB117S Premium Black Silicone Wiper Blade in 17". Been on the truck for less than a week and so far they are WAY better than the Michelins. Wrapping greasy rags around the ends of the wiper arms would be better than the Michelins so will give these some time and let y'all know what I think.

Wet there you say? Garden weathering it ok? Dry, dry, dry and hot here. Drought officially declared in our county and many others. Rivers at August flows already....scary times. I don't even want to contemplate fire season.

Garden seems to be okay so far. Certainly no need to water! Wish we could send a bit of this your way. We don't have fires out west, just jetboil dinners and we're careful about that, and where we park, too.
Hey hab, you've been busy since I checked in last. The bumpers look great, the CV boots are a job I need to tackle soon. Our company buys the cheapest wiper blades they can get, I buy my own at the parts store and have found the silicone ones to be the best.
Hope all is well with you, look forward to seeing all the pics from your family trip this year.

The silblades are leaving a film on the glass, but a lot of reviews said they did that for awhile and then it cleared up. Will wait and see. It's not bad, but you can tell it's there. Tropical Depression Bill has been hanging out with us so they've been getting a workout.

The silblades are a little streaky at first but work better and last so much longer. We drove through "BILL" in OK and AR be safe in that it putting down a lot of water.
Bill peed a lot! Good to know on the blades, that is exactly what is happening but they are still so much better than those junky Michelin wiper blades. As good as they make tires is as bad as those blades were, at least on my windshield.
Just drove the 96 a bunch today, rode bikes, about melted in the heat + humidity that's shooting up from the south.
I like how you and hubby are able to do similar projects on your trucks. Like the looks of the bumpers you two have put on. I think I have tried every wiper blade out there and seems like they just dont make them like they used to. It is miserably hot here in Missouri.
Headed to triple digits here by the end of the week, but humidity will be under 15%, and possibly to single digit, in the afternoons. Your humidity would kill me. Stay hydrated all!

How can you dehydrate in air this wet, rw? Really it's kinda like being in the shower. A hot, sweaty, drips rolling down your everything, stifling shower. Lost 3 pounds of juice on yesterday's bike ride and it's not even as bad as people further south are dealing with. As for the twos of yous, bet it'll be a big challenge to keep the electrolytes and fluids to the good.
Occasionally stepped out and watched the hubby replace the rear calipers on the Camry but mostly stayed inside under the guise of cooking dinner and other housey stuff.
Think he fell for it?
Oh, I'm sure there is a way to dehydrate there somehow! Ya' gotta replace that lost juice somehow. Sure....he fell for it if there was good food awaiting him when he came inside. What's for dinner??

So when I did the cv reboot on the left I noticed a lot of brass shavings on the backside of the hub.
Which got me to thinking. Which of course led to going overboard with it.
I've decided to replace the non-abs spindles with the abs spindles that were originally on the truck. I will have a new bearing and the manual hub pressed in and put the abs ring in there instead of the spacer.
There is a nut on the back of the manual hubs that has to come off. It takes a special tool and is torqued to 203 ft lbs. I set the lugs into a spare tire so the thing wouldn't move around. The hubby and kid stood on said tire. I used a cheater bar with a cheater bar with a cheater bar. Still took quite a bit of steady oomph before it popped loose.
Whew.
I'm going to have the hub and bearing presswork done by someone who isn't me. Currently one of the upper ball joints is not willing to part with the a-arm. Pickle fork, big hammer, puller, nope, nope, nope. I've got it sitting with some b'laster and tension with the puller, hoping it cries uncle or I'll be back at it tomorrow.
Why is it always just one little bolt?
