Boy, I'd love to have this...

I found this on eBay. If a I didn't already have a garage and driveway full of vehicles, I'd buy it. Toyota Trekker

Hey! Anyone want to buy a Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla to fund the "Toyota Trekker" purchase?

Man I had a friend who found an 82 Runner in the paper here for $2,500. He took me out to look at it, it was beautiful condition inside and out. He more or less did it to tease me b/c on the way home he said he was going to stick to the plan of finding a 300ZX Twin Turbo instead. I knew he had to be kidding me to go look at a truck, but I just wanted to see it now I wish I hadn't, makes me cry to think I don't have 2K lay'n around to take that baby home.

I think I may have seen that Trekker before on one of the boards.
It's been on Ebay for a bit.
From what I recall they were pre-4runner.

Yes, Winnebago built 1050 of them I believe.
They are the pre-runner to the development to the '84 4Runner.

Check out Ben's '81 Trekker.

That is pretty cool. What makes it different from the 4Runner? Looks similar, but I guess looks are deceiving! :fireman:

I may be way off base here, but a Trekker was a pre 4runner 4runner, it was basically a P/U body with the box removed and replaced with a fiberglass shell that was built by Winnebago, the rear of the truck cab was opened and extra seating was installed. They basically started the small SUV craze. (I know I'm being simplistic pls. correct me if I'm wrong)

Yeah, i read all about this awhile ago. This was made before the offical production of the 4runner. It was an experiment/ pre-4runner 4runner like someone else said. They are pretty cool

smaller?

looks a bit smaller than the 4 runners. the wheel base i mean.... well acually everything looks smaller. but pretty cool looking too, i bet it would be a nice vehicle to restore and would probably be good offroad.

I think I may bid on this...not sure yet. But all of you guys out there with the possible urge to bet on it as well - don't even think about it!!! Haha, just messing with ya. It definitely would be cool. I guess it is time to start digging around for some funds.

Just dug this string up in a search on Trekker's. Anyone know if they are valuable due to their rarity? What was the Ebay one going for?

Thinking of taking a look at one this weekend that's for sale in my area.

Those things are very rare and very cool. There were three names for them. Trekker, Wolverine, and something else that i'm forgetting right now.

They are pre '84 trucks with the bed removed and replaced as stated above. The trucks used came in long bed and short bed flavors. As a result the wheelbases were different. This may have something to do with the different names they had.

Yeah and from what I understand, the Trekker had a seat like the "other one" but on the Trekker the rear box was lowered to allow for headroom in the rear seating area. The Wolverine had a rear seat and a non-Winnebago canopy which was raised slightly to allow for the rear headroom. Not sure of other differences but the one I'm looking at is an '83. I'll let you guys know if I pick it up.
