Yeah for sure. Figners crossed. I checked the block deck with a straight edge and a feeler guage and it seemed all good. So if the head isnt the problem there is some major stuff goin on with the block.

When I threw the straight edge on the block and tried to get the feeler guage under it the .008 didnt fit and thats the smallest one in my guage set.

Sold my pickup and bought a 86' 4runner with 22re than needs a timing chain. Don't want to take the engine out. Don't want a stuck crank pulley bolt.

Good work Zach. Keep it up man.

Just curious what they told you estimate wise on your head?
If mine needs to get done I am not sure if I will go to Ted @ engbuilder(local to me) it is $129+ parts or go with one from Dave's offroad..

Right on. Glad to hear you got something else. The timing chain should be pretty easy. I just did all of that while it was in my truck.

Broke out one of the hinges I got with the other doors and did this:

I have wanted to give it a try to see how it turned out. Needless to say I am going to finish out the other three. I need some shorter hitch pins though. I might also drill out the holes for the slightly bigger 3/8 pin. But if I can find some replacement brass bushings I will go that way.

OCD, I paid 70$ Plus Parts, .....you CAN find those REALLY fast and accurate guys out there, ya know? He said, "I can't see charging 140$ for 1 hour labor, just because I CAN, ya know?"... I said, "I DO NOW! And thanx!!! " hahahaha.
(BTW, Zach..... that is a good deal, I'm NOT saying it isn't! lol... Just sounded like OCD was maybe watching every extra cost he could cut, ...like I did, lol)..

If you are interested, I can let you know who his purveyor is, because that's another thing.... he get's Swirl polished Stainless OS Valves for 11$ a piece for me(if I wanted them)....plus Manganese Bronze Racing Guides for 3$ each.... I also got the Dual Layer Racing Springs Set up. Yep, 2 put together, so when the main outers begin to get a lil tired, they will NEVER go below 60-70#(depending on your likes).... The spring company is in Gardena, CA, made in USA, and so were My Hastings Coated Racing Rings(Made in USA, also, and they're for REALLY quick seating.... I mean, mine set in around 200 Miles)

Sorry Zach, ....my bad on the tangent! lol.

Right on Chef. I will definitly have to get that from you. That sounds like some pretty decent price for all of that stuff. Don't worry about the tangent, I don't mind and I like the info you give.

I got a little done on my bumper tonight. Pics when I can find my confounded SD card.
And here is a pic of my buddies newly totaled 4Runner. I wish I coulda gotten more but the tow yard was closed today and we couldnt get behind the gate to get a better look. He was "drifting" some of these switchback mountain roads lastnight and rolled 'er over. Sad to see, I loved that Runner. I think hes gonna start it into a total offroad build, but my dad wants to swap roofs and get it back on the road.

I have also been thinkin about pickin up a 4Runner for myself. There is a 84/85 in the next town over that has been sitting for like 10 years. Its got a 3 or 4 inch lift, 33s, it is an auto but it is also EFI. When I inquired about it about 9 months ago, through the grapevine, I heard the guy wants like $4000 for it. But I think I could honestly get him wayyy down from that. I heard he is either in prison or just out of prison and there isnt really much he can do with it at the moment. I would really like to get it. With all of this 4Runner talk I wish I still had our old 85 runner.
