Zach intereting approach using the outer door handle

I have wanted to give it a try to see how it turned out. Needless to say I am going to finish out the other three. I need some shorter hitch pins though. I might also drill out the holes for the slightly bigger 3/8 pin. But if I can find some replacement brass bushings I will go that way.
yes, keep the brass bushings if at all possible. when i made my quick release hinges and drilled out the brass bushings the hinges were fine with only the weight of the tube doors, but with the weight of the full door they sagged too much and the doors would not close unless you made sure to hold them up when you closed them...
it was a PITA when my kids got out and slammed the door..

Thanks OCD. Ill look into replacin the brass bushings. They are all cracked. Wonder if I can get them at the local Toyota dealership. The Oreiley store here has rebuild kit but its $40 per hinge and all I need is the bushings.

Just talked to the machine shop. Bad news yet again . Every valve on the dang thing leaked and its too warped to pressure test. I told her that I am runnin a slim budget on this motor and if she could write up an estimate before she does anything else to it. I might be buyin an EB head here soon....

That's exactly why I went with the new stock EB head with mine. By the time I had the valves cut and seats refinished and the head shaved I was near the price of EB's at the time which is a little more now then when I bought it I believe.

Dang, sorry to hear, but that's about right, Zach.... I mean, IF you're getting all new Mang. Bronze Valve guides, viton seals, new springs and all new valves, .... it should be around 250$ Well, it's 250$ or 550$ or so, plus HG, ...... I totally agree with Brandon that it makes sense... but 300$ when you're broke is MILLIONSSSSSSS OF DOLLARSSSSSSSS! lol. Seriously...it is, isn't it? lol. How it feels right now, anyway!

I can check around here, if you want, Zach, ...Just let me know, I'll be glad to fish around for ya, k?

That price is with no fancy parts and only replacin the valves that need to be done. It definitly does seem like a million dollars haha. Thanks Chef. That would be awesome if you could. I do have a line on one in San Diego for $85 shipped. The guy says it ran good when he was usin it. But that was a month ago (guess I should check my PM box more often) I hope he still has it.

Hey man, as long as I'm in town and I can help, I WILL, Zach, ...that's always been who I am, ... I PAY IT FORWARD, HOMIE! lol... I had TONS of help on here, in person through here, etc., and the LEAST I can do is help you out when you really need it. I've seen Heads around me for 199$ rebuilt with a pretty good guarantee, .... and when it comes to "hey, Crap happens", I LEARNED TO OBEY "get a guarantee, bud!" LOL...

Sure, let me know...As a matter of fact, there's a guy I know right down the street, ..he's got like 10 Toyota's, lifted, etc., and even has a Grand National (whatever Class") in one of his 83's... 35's, BEAST! lol... my point is, he probably or at least might have a perfectly good head laying around. The problem will come in when it's time to get it to ya..... And I HAVE NO IDEA what it would cost, or if Amtrak or Greyhound still does that stuff..... MAYBE? lol. I'll get you some listings when you're ready, you do the rest of the research and we'll make it happen, if it's practical, k? If I head to AZ again and can bring one with me, it might even be cheaper to ship from there, ya know? Just thinking out loud.

PS> There is a guy from Yotatech that has an Ebay Store... His name is Jimmy Bowers, and he usually has plenty of parts. I'd also just start a thread on here, Zach,... I mean, what could it hurt, right?(be sure to send me the link)... WHO KNOWS< Marlin(Big Mike), Wabbit, MANY of these guys might have stuff like that laying around that they KNOW would work fine for ya.

PS> You said "STOCK" is what you're looking for, and 22r or 22RE?

Thanks for all of the info Chef. I really appreciate it. I will check out all of that. It is stock and 22r. But late 22r so the same as 22re would work. Heck I have a good 20r head that I would trade out for a good 22r head. I have all of the stuff to do a hybrid conversion. I just dont have the right block or the time to do it all.

HOLY CRAP!!!! $640 FOR A FREAKING LONG BLOCK!!!! That is absolutely ridiculously cheap. I checked for 22re's around here, no wrecking yards have them except in Dallas (3 hrs away) and they want $900 for a used engine, regardless of mileage. There are long blocks but these guys want $1500 for em....

This is what I was thinkin. The used enignes go for like $8-900 and the short blocks are 1275. One company in town has "brand new, no mileage ever, never driven" 22rs and 22res for $2000 from Japan. But Im pretty sure that they don't make them over there anymore. Toyota stuff out here is crazy.
