I may be switchin gears on the whole bumper thing. As I was lookin at it a few minutes ago, I realized that the c channel will fit perfectly in between the frame rails. It would make a perfect place to put it, because the only real reason I want it back there is for a tow location since I feel real sketch usen the frame and or spring perches. With that also looked into bobbin the bed just enuff to make it even with the frame so the the "crossmember" will act as a bumper also. I am gonna try to come up with a paint rendition to see what the bob will look like.

Heres the before and after on paint.
Before

After

Its not much but I think it maybe the way I go with this. But I am still undecided on what I want to do with it.

I am still undecided on where to go with it. I would really like the bed bob route though.

Wouldn't you have some of the cut off piece to work with in regards to 'filling in the rust holes' portion? Although.... you could probably do it with just some sheet metal as easily/more easily?

Yeah, I actually have some metal from the truck that I could use for patchin the holes. I just havn't gotten around to it yet. I also might go back to the u pullem yard and chop some sheet metal off of one of the 4runners they have.

I saw this today at the Walmart

Its pretty cool, cept for the huge chrome rims

Just finished reading your whole thread, dude, I'm sorry for how much trouble you have been having with your truck...it really sucks, hopefully you will have the dough to get it up and running soon, and with a little luck it will be up for a good while....I currently have a 94 2wd single cab 22re manual as my DD and a 93 extra cab 4wd 3vz auto that I am in the process of tearing down to the ground...I am so glad to have my DD as well as my project, it makes life easier, but there was a long three years that I went without a truck, it was a very sad time in my life....so I definitely know what its like to not be able to wheel...but good work on the stuff you have been doing to it...can't wait to see it up again! I'm definitely sub'd!

Righto, I think thats what Ima do.

I tore into my engine today to take the head off for machine work and testing. Guess what I found! The damn yard dog had tighened all but two of the head bolts torqued to an excess of 90 ft lbs. Only two of them were the right torque. Im pretty friggin sure thats my problem. The Haynes manual says 58 ft lbs max. I dont think that yard dog knows anything about toyota stuff, he just knew how to sell it.

58 is in the manual, 61 is what toyota released later, and 65 is what a lot of folks/shops tighten to. i tightened mine to 61, and it runs so nice

Yeah, I usually go about 60 lbs. Its much easier to break down into steps on 4 than 58 haha. But 90? That just excessive. I think the guy did it just to spite me wanting him to fix HIS mistakes.

Well its not that he was readin the book upside down, its cuz he was usin a electric impact. He said he never uses a torque wrench cuz his impact is set proper. But tell me this, how do you change the torque from setting for main bearing caps going to a head or intake???? Chitty mechanic if you ask me. Im jus waitin on my pay check to come in so I can have some machine work done on the head. If I can salvage the head, I might run what I got and build the other block for a jus in case instance. I did get a swing away tire carrier from my sisters boyfriend. It was on his F350, I am gonna modify it to fit my truck, but priority right now is makin the money to get that machine work done. Hopefully they can fix 'er up. Fingers crossed!!
