Nice '85, how is the 'ol man anyway still on a strong recovery I hope. Glade I did not go with and APR for mine yor the second person that's had bad experience and I've only talked to two. 302 would be nice. Spool on the rear is a nice substiute until you have the cash for a locker. gas prices suck how bad is it in Bailey? Down in the Springs it is average about $4.00 im sure next week it will be closer to 5.00

The old man is good. We brought him home Monday night. He gets better everyday. A 302 would be excellent, we have plenty of builder blocks layin around. I would love it if he would put the 408 Stroker in it but thats for a Bronco, unfortunately. Gas up here is still about $3.19 or so. Its decent compared to other places, but when I was fillin up over the summer for $30 when it was $2.35.

We kinda thought about it, but we dont have any 4.3's just layin around haha. I think it would end up bein a carbed motor if we did it. So there wouldn't be that much wiring for the motor anyway.

That would be a good way around doing all that wiring.

Well boys, its all she wrote for the ol 87. Its had its last hoorah. The coolant is Desert Tan and the consistancy of chocolate pudding. But still no water in the oil, as far as I can tell. I don't know what could be causing it. I thought it was fixed after we replaced the blown head but I think there is something major now. Im thinkin warped or cracked block. It could be the only thing.

WOOT! Somehow I got unsubscribed, buddy... WTH? Anyway, sorry to hear about the Hershey's Coolant! Hmmmmm, you're sure it's not the timing cover, letting a lil oil in to the water, just not the other way around just yet? Sorry, just throwing it out there, lol.

Sall good lol. Thats is just about the only thing left that could be wrong other than a cracked or warped block.

Something cracked allowing oil into the coolant passages, but not the other way around..
My guess would be the timing cover. But not necessarily because of guides.

I am definitly going to have to pull it and check it out. I don't think its the guides cuz when we pulled the head two weeks ago they seemed to be all there.

Maybe the bolt through the water pump/timing cover mounting bolt too tight? Believe that one is 9#.

Not sure, but I don't think you can get a wrench on that bolt without pulling the Fan and Fan Pulley(???) Thinking it's behind that, but can't remember.

Righto, I am going to take all of that stuff off anyway. Gonna pull the radiator and flush it real good, so while im there might as well pull the fan and check the torque of the timing cover/water pump bolts.

K, ....also, you know all the drama I had with the timing cover leaking, right? (leaked oil, the guy used too much sealant). I KNOW there is an oil galley between the AC Brace/Timing cover bolts, 2 up from bottom and 3 up from bottom/front(think that's the 2, lol).... and can't remember if there is a water one above/below that(I think it's just the separate pipe that runs off the IACV, etc., that bolts into the back/drivers side on the top of the cover. ) Don't see how oil could get in that one.

Hmmm, you're a 22r, ...not sure how that one works on yours(The water pipe, passenger side, upper, into the back of the cover)

Well, the reason I mentioned those, Z, ......People can forget that they're NOT MEANT to be torqued 80#, lol. That brace is HEAVY(if you have AC, of course!haha) Anyway, I think the guy who messed with mine didn't have my brace, so he got confused or something and didn't torque down some temporary bolts(course, didn't help that he used a BLOB of FIPG, too! lol) Not sure you could get oil IN the coolant, due to anything on that side...but best wishes finding it quick, bud!

Right, so then you'd have to get new bolts, I would think, to replace the longer ones that go through the AC brace. Just trying to help you think ahead. lol.

That would free up space for another apparatus to be bolted to the pass. side of the block. Maybe you can keep the brace and hook up an "on board air compressor", .....can't remember the name, lol. Lot's of people have them though.
