Thanks Terry. I really like the small block fords as well, they are real simple to work on and reliable. I will definitely miss the horsepower, but not the fuel economy, or lack of I should say, lol. In a way, this 87' 4Runner will be my first IFS and fuel injected toyota that I've owned, since I did the SAS and 302 swap on my 86 before ever having a chance to drive it in its stock form. I already love the fact that I can go out and turn the key in this cold weather and it starts right up and stays running. My 302 was cold blooded, I'd have to stay out there and babysit it till it warmed up, lol.

Here are some pics of the 87'... The paint isn't that great, the clear coat is peeling off everywhere. The driverside is in pretty descent shape, has one shallow dent in the quarter panel, I think I can pop it out from the inside if I remove the side panel. The passenger rear fender open is where most of the rust is, I started poking at it with my finger, and it didn't take much to open up the holes.

Here's a short list of things I want to get done on it.

▪Fix intermittent starting problem. I'm almost 100% sure it's the single wire that goes down to the starter with the factory spade connector, if it won't start, I can wiggle that wire around, and then it will usually start right up.
▪Clean the interior...I think a cat was living in there, lol.
▪Zuk mod. The rear bumps stops bottom out when I hit bumps on my driveway, no cut Zuk mod for now, probably use jeep TJ front coils again, they worked well last time...wish I wouldn't have sold them now, lol.

Yeah I had some mixed feeling about it, I will definitely miss it, but getting another yota in the deal made it a little easier, lol.

i was thinking about doing hood pins as i cut out a bunch of the rad support when swinging in the sbc into my 85 pu, and thought of this rig. you are welcome to come drive mine when its done. (maybe by october? haha)
ps. i also sold one of the trucks i was working on. and it feels weird. like my kids first day of school, like "good luck little buddy, ill be thinking of you all day,". ....

If you get hood pins, I totally recommend the one I got from Poly Performance, they cost a little more, but I was really happy with the quality.

I checked in on your build thread, looks like you're making some good progress on your truck.

I hear you on selling your rigs, it does feel weird especially when I come back to this thread and see some of the pics of it, lol. My younger brother might be buying it from my uncle (whom I sold it to) so at least it would still be in the faimly, lol.

ED i had no idea you sold your 4runner!!!! was it too much work or were you just ready for something different?
I've gone back and forth about selling mine for the past 2 years, even put it up on craigslist a time or two but i'd only sell it if i got what I think its worth, which isn't what other people think its worth haha.

I went back and forth on selling it. It wasnt that it was too much work, just got tired of using it as my daily driver. I sold it with the plan to buy my father in laws' 2001 Chevy Z71 extended cab to be my main rig, and then I bought an 87' 4runner to play with, but then my wife totalled her Durango, so she took over the Chevy and I'm back to daily driving the 87' 4runner, lol. To be honest, I missed driving the toyotas with the stock 22R/22re's, even though they are a little under powered, especially compared to my 86' with the 302, but it's reliable and gets alot better gas mileage!

◆◆◆EDIT◆◆◆ 4/25/16.....I just found out my younger brother has my 4runner now which I think is cool, I know he will treat it right. He's a toyota addict as well and traded his 85' toyota pickup (that he owned for over 10 years) and his wife's 90's 4runner for it. Maybe he'll join the forum and pick up where I left off!!!???
