Well Curtis (aka 1986yota4x4) and his friend made it the 2hr drive down to my place this morning to pick up the 85' longbed off my parts truck. It was nice to finally meet him in person! He took the bed, rear axel, and a bunch of other random parts I needed to get rid of, lol. All that's left of the 85' is the rear portion of the frame, and the canopyl.

He brought me 2 CB radios with the antennas, 2 CD players, a 10" subwoofer & enclosure, a big piece of 1/4" steel plate, some pre-bent exhaust tubing, and a frame mount/style receiver hitch. So now I have some new goodies to work with, ha, ha! Thanks again, oh and my wife thanks you too for getting that bed off the back patio, lol!!!

No problem, I didn't even notice that rusted spot you found, but I think with a little work it will be a more solid bed for you than your old one! Look forward to seeing what you do with it! I got to cleanup and paint and mount that receiver hitch tomorrow, lol.

Hey Ed.

Your truck looks awesome man. Great job so far!!!

Have you been able to get your heater hoses connected? And were you able to save the rear heater or did you scrap it?

I'm researching doing a Ford small block swap as well. These were a few of the questions that I've been pondering.

Oh hey. I posted a question about a roll bar mounted hi-lift jack mount on my thread. Any thoughts there would be appreciated as well.

Thanx.

Thanx for the response chef. Do you remember what the bolt is that mounts to the seat belt stud? 10 x 1.5?

Yeah I'm not to worried about it, the old paint flakes off really easy, I'll just clean it up with a wire wheel and repaint, it'll be good as new, I appreciate you getting that for me!

Hey Travis, thanks for the compliments! About my heater, my heater works, I don't have a rear heater (is that an SR5 option? not sure) the hose that isn't connected in the above pic is from the power steering pump resovoir, I need to get a different pulley setup so I can run my steering pump, shouldn't be to hard to find, just haven't had time, then I will modify the yota steering pump brackets to work, lol. That's cool hat you're researching for a Ford V8 swap, if you have any questions, feel free to ask, ill do my best to help you if I can!

Nice mount Chef, that my first time seeing that, I like the addition of the club!
If I remember right, I think the bolt is 14mmx 1.5...Also, not to take anything away from Mark's idea, but on Zelephant's build he has a hi lift mount on his rollbar using muffler clamps, just to give you a couple different ideas! Lol.

Hey Rock, ... no problem. ................ Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm(<< Obviously that means NOT AT ALL! hahahaha)... no, BUT REALLY, ... It was one of hundreds I have laying around... CAN'T remember. My guess would be M10x1.50, yes. And yet, for some reason, that lil 'mental-gremlin' that tortures me is saying, "NOOOOOO, it's smaller, ..... more like an M8x1.50"..... I believe I have the bags from Lowes so I could get more... I am going to use them to mount my Con-Ferr to the Side Rails... on the roof. Stainless. I BET you have one lying around, should you have ANY dark hole full of toyota boltage in that garage! lol.

Best wishes..... Post pics! And, NOT being a smart arse.... I can't even find mine.. but the 'THREAD FINDER' KIT i HAVE IS AWESOME! It's softer than steel, brass I believe, so you don't bugger any threads you own...... But hard enough not to just easily tweek, ya know? I think 4crawler or something I know has every bolt on this rig(within reason/ones you'll actually get to in the rigs lifetime, lol).... marked off with tape.

Now I'm curious... thanks alot! haha... AND, .... that's a 21MM shorty Impact socket I have.... Don't ever remember using it. So I used it for that. HOWEVER< a 22 would have fit better, but I USE IT, way more(suspension bolts). But if you can find one you can spare...well, it's INDESTRUCTIBLE, ya know?

M14??????? it's that big? Wow, I was way off! lol... Well, you can tell my socket is a 21.... and the bolt head is a 14...... So I would still guess M10... But now I REALLY am not sure, cuz that's an aftermarket bolt... and as you know, the metric bolts that you get at the stores are NOT like Toyota's.... M10 are 3/4 heads or something like that... 17MM? Ok, forget it, I'm lost! hahaa...

Mudflaps? why does that sound familiar? What did he do with them again?

Ha, ha thanks Mark, and hey, you've been saying you'd like to get better gas Mileage right!, why not, lol. Oh, I chimed in to soon on the bolt size, lol, yeah I was talking about the head size being 14mm sorry didn't mean to cause confusion, lol.

Since we are on topic about rollbar mounts for hi-lift jacks, I figured I'd go ahead and post some pics I stole from Zelephant's build thread for future reference. Since I have seatbelts attached to my rollbar, I'll probably go with something similiar to what he did, but instead of going across horizontally, Ill probably do both clamps on the same down tube vertically like Mark did.

Wow, that's cool.... Not for me, as I like to sleep back there and wouldn't wanna have to remove it to avoid smashing my face in the night at the sound of bears trying to rummage through camp looking for whatever that smell was! hahaha... Yeah, that would work(what you just suggested, Ed).... I also thought about putting the bar behind the roll bar sides and base and sprocket between them and top of the wheel hump... So they're totally out of the way. I mean.... not difficult to assemble, if I need to use it..... And yet, I like locking it like that(Plus I can lock the base to the floor hoops, making it more difficult to remove if the tops off. I'm going to make a mount for the Con-Ferr as well..... But I don't think I NEED to mount it up there, even on trips... The way I have it is very out of the way, ya know? Problem with mounting it on top or on the bumper(IMHO) is that it could wind up that's where you're stuck/pinned the Hi-Lift to something(or flipped and can't get it off the Con-Ferr/or pinned, AGAIN, with the Rack right up against a tree, leaning over>> make sense?) I KNOW it's not likely... but if it did and I'd need it... and couldn't get to it? lol.

I've seen that happen to guys, mounted on the rear bumper and then they'd backed into something and couldn't get it off/couldn't move forward. That's why I also have a come-along, at least until I have a Winch(not in the near future.... but I'd like one that can at least do the job, not necessarily a WARN or Smitty or other 900$-something, ya know?)

Ya I like the bracket with the bolt protruding from the center and a spacer. I'm pretty sure the thread is a 12 x 1.25. I found a bolt that works but it's short. I'll try and find a replacement tomorrow.

And I'm pretty sure I can fab up that portion of the bar mount clamp. These pics have helped alot, thanx guys.

Aww lucky. I wish i could see your truck in person too. Lol well at least I get to see Chefyotas truck in person all the time so that makes up for it ha ha ha.
Btw those pix you took look clean. Seriously if I could go back to the time before my engine rebuild I would have just gone with a V8 engine if not the 3.4 or 4.0 V6. Bigger motor pulling a small truck = Sick Powah! Lol

I worked on the receiver hitch that I got from a trade with 1986yota4x4. I was just going to clean it up to paint it, but then me being the type of guy that can't leave well enough alone... I decided to modify it, lol. I didn't like how low it hung down looked like a rock magnet, so I cut and modified the mounting brackets and raised them up 2". Later on down the road I'm going to build my bumper and incorporate it into this hitch.

^heres where I cut the frame mounting bracket

^after I cut it I moved it up 2" to re-weld together. The part with X's will be removed.

Here it is one side finished. I'll probably go back and plate one side for added strength. The top bracket is the modified one, the bottom stock. Ill finish it up tomorrow, it should be tucked up closer to the tailgate.

So, .............. what is that? ^^^ HAHAHAHA, JK>... I joke, I joke.... I kid, I kid! lol.

REALLY hate that about many stock carriers........ Mine sits right below my rear bumper... Not sure I can do much about it right now...... BUT, not a spot of rust on it, so that's at least good, right? haha. Also...... if I EVER can get it together and get some front and rear bumpers and sliders(First)... well, that bumper will have a receiver right in it if I want, yeah? 4xinnovations one does I think.... Anyway.

WOW, you area resourceful sun'uma'gun!
