rustED's 86' V8-Runner Build-up Thread

Looks good. The only bolt hole measurement that I really need is the top two holes. My runner doesnt have those two mounts. If you dont mind, just a a couple measurements in relation to the bolt hole below it would be nice. I really have a long ways to go before I need to start worry about building a bumper tho lol

Thanks Mark! You should build yourself one, with all the tools you have available to you at the school, you could whip one out in no time!
Thanks man, I hoped to get more done yesterday, but you know it goes!
No problem bud, I'll post the measurements later this evening, I worked graveyard last night, time to get some sleep!

On my crossmember there are 2 more holes that take a smaller bolt, I will get those drilled out today and update this post and add the measurements and location of the holes

Thanks Chris! I was hoping to work on it yesterday, it didn't get to. Hopefully I can get back to it on wednesday.
Thanks! No problem, I'll continue to post up the specs as I go just in case anyone wants them.

Thanks again for posting the dimensions and mounted photo. I think I just might try and make one this week. I have been meaning to take off my bumper anyhow.
One question I have, is the dimensions on the winch plate. I cannot seem to find anything on that.

Thanks Mark. Not a problem, I couldn't find any info on dimensions as well, that's kinda why I thought of posting them up as I went, try to help others out that might be wanting to build their own as well, I didn't think I'd get this much interest tho!
[/URL]On the actual plate that the winch bolts to, looking at TG's I'm going to guess and say it's 22-3/4" wide, just like the upper portion of the backing plate that I already built. I'm using a universal mount kinda like the above (smaller) pic that I already had just to save time and money so mine is going to vary a little from TG's. My winch plate is 7" wide x 15" long. I will be sure to make note of the changes when I start tacking it together.
I FIGURED I'D GO AHEAD AND POST THESE DIMENSIONS...THESE MIGHT NOT BE EXACTLY TG SPECS, I'M GUESSING THEY ARE PRETTY CLOSE.

^^^THE ABOVE FOOTNOTE IN RED IS BASED ON THE FACT THAT I'M USING A BUNCH OF SCRAP METAL AND PIECING THIS ALL TOGETHER, IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS TO HAVE A SINGLE PIECE OF 1/4" PLATE BENT AND CAN MAKE THE WINCH PLATE AND BACKING PLATE ALL OUT OF ONE PIECE I'M SURE IT WOULD BE STRONGER (is that what you're planning to do Mark?) I'm GOING TO NAME SOME PARTS JUST TO MAKE IT LESS CONFUSING FOR REFERENCE. THE GREEN PLATE THAT I ALREADY CUT OUT AND IN THE ABOVE PIC I'M GOING TO REFER TO AS THE "BACKING PLATE" AND THE ONE THAT THE WINCH BOLTS I WILL REFER TO AS THE "WINCH PLATE"...LOL, GETTING ALL TECHNICAL AND STUFF

nice work ed, thanks for sharing. probably wise for making one yourself, not only is it cheaper but when i bought mine a couple of the holes didn't line up right... not sure if it was my truck or the plate that was wrong, but i had to visit a friend with a plasma to get it bolted on

Thanks Terry, I feel my motivation coming back, I think once I drop the kids off at the bus stop and get an early start I should be able to get a lot accomplished!

I have some extra 2" tube for the receiver if you want it. I don't know if it would be worth it to you to ship it, probably easier to find some scrap locally, let me know if you want some.

I got a late start today, nothing really update worthy. I did tack weld the winch plate to the backing plate. I also cut out a piece of 2-1/2" square tube (inside dia 2") for the receiver that I will weld underneath the winch plate tomorrow. I'll get the triangle gussets cut out tomorrow to help support the winch plate.
