Oh yea man you do need some lift back there haha When are ya gonna buy these rear leafs?
Btw just to let cha know All Pro springs are made just for off road. look it up but i'm pretty sure i heard from someone that trail-gear makes some leafs meant to be used for both off road and mild carrying a load. All Pro's leafs are more for flexing and not too much carrying weight. Thats what Kurtis from AllPro told me

Thanks man. Lets see if it stays level after i drive it around this weekend. Those rear leafs started to sag after a few days. so I'm really hoping for the best with this mod. Even if it sags i'm really hoping it will at least be able to carry a load and not go lower then the average sag.

I drove my truck today for the first time after doing the leaf spring mod to the rear. Drove 33miles from Los Angeles to Chino CA. And I've got to say it doesn't feel stiff one bit. It feels really nice now.

Dragon I see what you mean about hearing the springs rubbing together without that pad. I hear it a little whenever I need to stop and go. Nothing a little music can't tone out lol. But seriously I totally forgot to grease it up in between the leafs. So I'm sure that will help out eith the sound like u say. Probably get that done tomorrow or sunday.

i remember we had issues with that truck (the pre 50 ford, i was in 11th grade automechanics LOL) it came back couple times for the spring we had to replace he finally got someone with a plasma cutter to pop a hole in the end to put an anti friction pad in
the plasma cuts so fast an clean it wont heat temper the spring end which would be bad

Wow! I so wish that we had auto mechanics class at my high school. I would have enjoyed that class very much. Unfortunately for me my highschool did not offer that class . Lucky you! As for the leaf spring tip thank you for that. I will jump on it in the future. At the moment, I'm kind of scared to remove the you u-bolts again because it seems like I always strip the thread on at least one u bolt. This past time that I did the leaf springs I accidentally stripped 3 ubolts. Maybe I might tighten them a little too much when I put them on. But I don't know for sure. I'll use your grease method for now until I am able to rack up spare change to buy some new ones just in case they strip when I remove them again.

------------------------------------------
Btw guys my next mod or fix is gonna be to fix my parking brake lines. I'm gonna need to extend the the lines a few inches and maybe make something a little higher. I'm not sure just yet but that's what I definitely wanna do. I keep accidentally pulling my parking brake and it scares the crap outta me because I feel like I'm gonna yank the stick out! Since the cables ain't attached to the drum it moves so freely without any resistance. Its scary stuff man! Anyway that's one problem I definitely gotta fix.

i was YA THINK!? LOL

oh if the drag on the end of the spring gets annoying kris suggested getting a wedge (prybar screwdriver) in the sides of the spring to get some gap an using the disk grinder bevel the end a bit thats pressed on the one above then slather the > point with grease

Just finished the thread Richard. Like I mentioned in Chef's, thanks so much. Lots of great info. Has me chomping at the bit to get going on mine and I'm tied up for another few weeks with a big project at work.

Your truck has really turned out fantastic and I absolutely have to get out to that Tierra del sol event next year. That looks like a blast from everything you and Chef posted. Thanks again for all your great information and have a great holiday weekend!

Looks like the rear springs was giving you a work out but sounds like you about got it taken care of. Glad to hear the ride was nice and smooth for you as well.

That list is getting huge with all the awesome stuff you guys do to these great little trucks. Addiction is right. Your and Chef's experience so far with machinists and mechanics has given me a lot of caution in choosing there as well. I contacted the guys at 22reperformance and they told me they'd do the V6 as well as the 22r's so I think when it's that time, I'll probably just go that route for peace of mind. Those guys truly seem to have it all lined out as well as anyone and my normal guys for street rods don't want to touch this thing.

I'm not convinced I'll ever truly use an SAS enough to consider that, but I am going to pay close attention. I'm not far enough into your thread to know how things have gone exactly, just the stuff I've read here so far (in your thread, you're currently trying to trouble shoot some engine noise and just replaced your steering box).

It's all great stuff for a newbie like me and I'm just trying to soak it all up as much as I can (and there's many threads to go). Makes planning MUCH easier and will save me a TON of money and headaches at some point. I hope I can pay it forward somehow in the future.
I figured i'd reply to your post from above in Chefyota4x4's page on mine to avoid taking over his page lol I'm Glad you were able to learn from some of my experiences. I Try to put stuff in plain simple english because after all i am still a newb too lol I dont know correct words for parts and although i try my best to use correct terms sometimes you'll find me using words like "this curved thing-a-majig" or this connects to this plug when it aint even a plug... lol Stuff like that that i know other people still understand when providing pictures and video footage so people can correct me ya know.

I was laughing too! I gotta find a way to go over the top of the leaf spring some how. I'll figure it out eventually. i get off work early today so i'll see if i can somehow mod the part where the line hooks up to the drum brake for my ebrake. I'm also gonna need longer ebrake lines. probably only 2" longer i dunno yet. i'll give you guys an update later. see how it goes. but this definitely has to be fixed asap

Hi Diableri, Thanks for the compliments. I just glanced through your thread before heading to sleep last night. and i seen you had a similar problem to what i had with my disgusting interior lol Hope the first few pages of my thread help you out in that part. Maybe next year All us Yotatech guys can meet up for the next Tiera Del sol trip. Thatd be really nice to meet so many of you CA guys. You have a great holiday.

Hi Terry, First of all, Thanks for your services and have a great memorial day!
Yea those leaf springs are a pain in the arse because they weigh so much. Not only that but when trying to work with a uncooperative axle it really makes the situation difficult to work with especially if you're working against the daylight. lol They did level things out in the rear end. And i drove the truck all over the place this weekend. and you can tell the leaf springs broke in some. it does look like it might have gone down about 1/2 and inch maybe less. but the truck still looks pretty level. you can barely notice any sag so looks like this mod worked!

Way to do r&d and Apply it! Looks fantastic bubba! Can't you pull that, drill it out and slap a pad in there? Don't want that sheering away or binding anything.

Did you lower your LPSV? Just curious if you did...... Not sure if your year still has it...... think so. I was reading that many times with a lil sag the LPSV senses that and puts all the brake pressures to the front, like 90%-10%.... I'm thinking of that on my end, cuz you look good now in that manner.

PS: the bump stop welds to the flip kit platform on top after making sure it will be clear of all the u bolt nuts. However, it looks like the rear kids don't come with a bump.. If you have that same problem I'll have to hit 4 Wheel Parts and grab us 1! As for the front one that is supplied, that's where you want that sucker to go. your pops can probably world that in pretty easily

I'm selling a few of the things i took off of my truck once i went the SAS route and Higher 4" lift. If you guys are interested please send me a Private Message and i'd be happy to work out a payment via Paypal or local pickup for ya. S&H will all be on your Tab. and i'll try to wrap everything up as best as i can.

Like the Ad states i am in the Los Angeles CA area. I'd prefer to work with local pickups only at least for the tires/rims, valance, and might possibly ship out the leaf springs. Send me a PM and we'll see what we can work out. (I WILL ONLY SHIP ITEMS OUT ONCE PAYMENT HAS GONE THROUGH! via PAYAL)

If you want a specific zip code to my location it is 90255

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-3" lift kit(front and rear) for a SFA or SAS's truck/4runner $250 They are used and are settled. Still work fine only reason i'm getting rid of them is because i upgraded to a real 4" AllPro lift leaf springs. These dont require new welding of spring hangers for the rear. It will bolt right on to your stock ones. Will not separate. $250

Note: not sure if it will sag for a pickup, but it did have a slight sag on the rear of my truck due to the hard top, tire in the bed, roof rack and cargo in the rear. I'm sure this problem can be quickly fixed by adding blocks or another leaf in the springs like i did to my current leaf springs to even it out.

And last but not least my old black aluminum 15x7 rims with 31/10.5/15 LEMANS A/T tires Still have plenty of tred left including a spare tire on a stock Toyota spare steel rim. All black rims with Lemans are balanced already. Selling these for $200 for all 5. Will not separate from the rim.

These are all old pix of the tires, but they more or less have the same exact amount of tred left. Approx 1/4" deep on all tires and spare is almost brand new. I'll get current pictures of the tires uploaded with tire to Dime or Penny ratio as soon as i get home from work today.

Fun Weekend

Some pix of this past weekend. Had a great time at a club Vive in downtown Pomona CA. With my girl Faby, one of her best friends Alex(Birthday girl), and one of my very long term friends Cesar.

Another with the birthday girl's family in the background and Cesar's date next to him.

Instead of band practice we ended up having a nice big BBQ this past weekend.

Sunday practice watching the Kings vs Sharks game. Made some bomb Spicey Hawaiian BBQ'd "FALL OFF THE BONE" meaty beef ribs, mac n' cheese, Bush's baked beans, grilled assorted veggies and onions, home made Guacamole and drank a few beers with the band, Faby and chick friend along with my mom, dad, & lil brother.

A little something I'm working on right now. I think it might work.
My hand brake extension. Hook up to the brake drums to the steel plate extension then to the brake lines.

I'm hoping that if I I tighten the bolt with a lock washer tight enough on the drum brake that it won't move either way when I pull on the brake. This is just experiment #1. Lets hope it works.

FYI- if you purchase a lift block kit (1-2" range) from say Superlift, ProComp, Skyjacker etc. these extension brackets are included or are available a la carte. The bracket has a cam that solves your tightening issue. I'd post a photo but wasn't able to find one in my photo archives. Maybe you can find something on line?

Note: There are some adjustment complications with having such a long leaver arm. Its difficult to get the cable length dialed in correctly. On the plus side when you do not much pull force is needed to really lock down the brakes.

Thanks Will. We need to get out once in a while and this weekend was definitely worth it. Been too occupied with the truck that I've been forgetting to have fun with some friends and girl. gotta get back into the game. All good. I'll let ya know if it sells or not. We'll see how it goes.

Hi Mark, Well it wasnt much of a double date. the other girl in the first picture is one of Faby's best friends(married to a US Marine). My Friend's date was the small skinny girl sitting on the couch with him in the big group picture.

About the springs Thank you Mark, let me know what you find out. sooner i get rid of this stuff the better because i gotta pay off this SAS/Lift ASAP!

Hey Blazen8, dont think i've seen you on my thread before. Seen ya on Toyotech's page before. Thanks for dropping by and also for the tip. i didnt know people made extensions for this purpose. nice! Gonna have to see what i can find if this one doesnt work for me.

BTW I also realized that they were too long in those previous pix so I actually had to cut them a little more then 1/2.(pix in the bottom comment)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright guys I found that the bracket was much too long. It stuck up way too far and it was about 1" away from the inner tire wall. Not to mention those nasty points on the corners of the brackets. For better adjustment capabilities and fear of popping my tires when i air down for off road i decided to just play it safe and shorten them and also round off the ends and leave it more or less in an oval shape. After this i think it should work perfectly.

Not the best grinding job for rounding off my ends but so long as it works i cant complain!

The reason i made these different sizes was because the passenger side seemed to have much more slack in the emergency brake line. When i first tested out the previous "longer" version i noticed that only the driver side would tighten while the passenger side would still be a bit loose. So i eyeballed it more or less to see where i need to make my next holes and this is what i was able to come out with. This didnt cost me a thing. I just used some rusted scrap metal that my dad had laying around in the back yard and cleaned it up. that was all so if this one ends up messed up i can just make another one or do what BlazeN8 said and order one of those extension kits.

Holy cow that thing is sexy! Reminds me of mine too! Really diggin those rims. Thats not a bad price for what he has invested into it. Dang.... wish my brother had the money for that truck lol

Just checked out the fresno Craigslist. Wow you guys got some sick looking rigs out there!!! AND FOR MUCH CHEAPER THEN US L.A GUYS CAN GET! I think i'm gonna have to keep a look out for a good 4door 4runner with a bunch of mods for my older bro. That is what he is searching for. but his price range isnt too too high. IF we find something in his price range i definitely don't mine making a road trip to go pick it up!
