HEY, ..... I thought you said the Black rims that you had the 31's on were 15x7's? I feel like I looked at it myself, as well, while parked in the lot at pick-your-part. What 'black steel' rims are ya talkin bout, Richard? Not sure.... hmmmm... I musta missed something. Did those guys offer you Soft 8's or something that come with the 33's they're not using???? SPLAIN IT TO ME, PLEASE? hehe.

Ohhhh, ok, yeah....... Nice! I'm sure they're offset 3.75".... that's the 'IDEAL'...and what most off road tire rims are cut to.
So, ..... now to END THE CONFUSION FOREVER! lol.....>>>>>>>
1. YOU'RE GETTING A 31 TO PUT ON THE ALUMINUM ONE THAT HAD THE BUGGERED TIRE ON IT........
2. You're going to try to trade those almost new pair of Spare tires(factory size 235x65x15's??) for ONE BFG in 'SUPER GOOD shape'......
3. Then you'll run the 31's until it's SAS time, period!
RIGHT?
hehe...
Sounds like a solid plan, sir!

Yep you got it down. BTW I was speaking to my landlords son again while i was changing my tires back to the 31's and he told me he had another set of 4 31" bfg a/t's Used but they are good. Said they are his spare tires for when he doesnt use his 31" and 33" m/t tires. And considering he is (and i quote) "in need for money" he said he wouldnt mind selling me the set of 4 bfg a/t's lol How cool is that. BUT..... i dont know how good of shape those tires are in yet. He said he would bring them by tomorrow. So I'ma take a look at them and if i decide to take them then ill just go ahead and buy all 4 tires and have the brand new 31 that i got yesterday and use it as a spare tire. ya know what i mean.
That should hold me over till i SAS.

Ha i agree with you terry. I've had rotten luck so far finding used 31/10.5/15's so far. Rim 15 in general. Most people, especially out here in Los Angeles area use big rims 17-18's +.
So long as I'm able to clear the 6'8" parking lot at work I should be good.

Alright. Problem #2 fixed. I finally got some replacement tires. I traded one of my cheap ol' guitars that i never use anymore plus a multieffects pedal that i was planning on getting rid of anyway for a set of four 31/10.5/15 Lemans A/T's with about 1cm left of tread. They weren't in bad condition, just extreamly dirty. I cleaned them up as best as i could before taking them to the tire shopto get mounted and balanced. I've never heard of this brand before but i figure for the short 3-4 months that im planning on using these tires for before i SAS why not. They should last me till then. Only thing im wondering is if these are any good for mild offroading. I really want to go on at least one more trip before i finally do this sas. I'm gonna do some research on these tires and see. If you guys know anything about these tires please throw in some opinions.
Here is the tread pattern:

Looks good for a 3-4 month stint, maybe a little wipe down with some tire cleaner/shine stuff. How come they put the balancing weights on the outside? Mine are always put on the inside so you can't see them.

Hey Greg, wow I didn't even notice that till just now that you mentioned it. Great now I'm gonna be looking at it like a sore thumb on a rim lol. I might go back and ask them to put it on the back side. Lol and yea I think it should be good for a few months worth of use. I'm just wondering still if they're any good for mild off roading. I can't find any offroad use reviews on these tires.

sorry i took so long to get back to you.. but thanks for the shout out! leds turned out perfect
did the climate control bulb fit right in or did it require some sanding? i had to file a tiny bit off the sides for a snug fit... just silicone/plastic though..

as for the weights, sometimes the wrong combo of wheels/tires or a bent rim will make a wheel so out of balance.. that massive amounts of weight are needed. usually putting them on both sides with hammer ons will level them out without too much weight. maybe ask for the stick ons? I used stick ons for mine.. it took like4-5 ounces per tire.. but they're balanced now! if you didn't live so far away id offer to balance em w/ stickons for ya.

Hey Blake. I was starting to think you were too cool for my page lol jk Thanks dude, & it's cool I wasn't tripping on you for not replying. Your thread is what inspired me to do it. I even made an instructional thread with pix and videos on how to do the whole thing too.
I also had to shave a bit off the sides for the climate control light. I used the flat edge of my flat head screwdriver. Like you said, just enough for a snug fit. I love the lights best small mod ever!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTW guys, I was thinking of buying my Front axle rebuild kit off of Marlin crawler and possibly getting trail-gear's brand "trail-creeper" 4.88 gears already. So I can get a jump start on this project once and for all. At least to have the darn thing ready for the rest of the SAS process.

Just read your 2nd post. I appreciate your offer. Id be nice if you were closer to us too. Maybe we'd all be able to hit up some trails together some day considering we're all a drives away from each other. And I never knew that about what you said of the weights. Do u work in a tire shop?

COOL! Likey, homie!
lol....
I had some on a GMC 79 Pickup.... they worked fine off road. I had 33's but just 11.50's... didn't think they made them at that time and wanted a skinnier tire(I like that)... so I ran em and they ran just fine for around 25K miles from that point you have there. They'll do fine off road... .Heck, many will if you just were locked... but thats' gotta wait, so you'll just have to head up there and try em out, wont ya?
hahaha.
Gonna go soon, letcha know when... wanna go?

Yea I'm up for it. Maybe next time ill bring my little red grill and we can make some chicken or something.
And about being locked. Dude I am so tempted to just install my neighbors AuburnGear locker in my rear axle. But I originally wanted to save that one and put it in my front axle when I rebuild it and install gears. I wanted to use the newer, Spartan, locker in the back. Mark next time we go up there ill just deflate my tires some and bring my portable tire compressor to fill them up on the way back home. I think that's one other reason that I couldn't handle too much the last time because we didn't even let any air out. Tellin you my last truck wasn't locked either, had the 22r and it went up a lot of things on deflated tires. It made all the difference in the world.

OH yeah, that could help some.... It's just that BABY POWDER-like stuff....well, you know, it's VERY unforgiving with limited slip.. But yes, airing down wouldn't have hurt... I had a compressor in the back, always do... Just thought that those tires looked a lil ragged to be airing them down, to be honest. That's why I brought the almost new 31x10.50 BFG/AT-KO with me for you... Then we'd have spares covered for both of us, I'd just have to make sure I had 2 of the same on my rear cuz of my locker. Also, since I was with you and knew your rig would be far more limited(until you SAS)... I didn't want to bother Airing the Mud King 32's down..... TOO HOT to sit out there when I don't really need to! haha... Also, .... SOMETHING is going on in your front end... I don't think it was SOLELY having rolled backward ... You rolled forward again enough after those times to where the Automatic Locking Hubs should have kicked in again.. And they didn't seem to lock up there at all.. That really surprised me, ya know?
Anyway, we'll be fine... and we can limit it to places like the 2nd one, where right off the road and alarm on we could leave the Kingsford behind for a bit if we had to, ya know?
Soon enough it will be "KingSASford",.... and you'll push me to 'get to the top', hahaha...
Can't wait... but this heat equates up there to the '100's', EASY! lol.

BTW I thought I'd give an update. FINALLY SOME PROGRESS TOWARD MY SAS!!!
So today was payday, and this was the check that i worked 2 days Ovetime so i decided to treat myself to some parts.
I just got done ordering a Front Axle Servicing kit & Heavy Duty Shift Lever Ball Seats for my loose shifter that wobbles and pops out of gear! Both off of the MarlinCrawler website for a total of $209.73
AND i also went ahead and bought the front 4cyl axle 4.88 trail-creeper gears made by TrailGear Came out to a total of $195.28 I will go ahead and buy the rear v6 4.88 gears with my next paycheck. I gotta use whats left of my money for gas and bills.
At least with everything i just ordered i can fix my annoying wobbly shifter. And i can finally get a jump on my sas project and begin rebuilding my front axle with the Kit, 4.88's and my neighbors AuburnGear locker.
My next paycheck ill buy the rear 4.88's, Service kit, and a spartan locker.
