I got nothing against smitty built bumpers lol. I actually like them. But I don't like them for my own truck. The tubing is too thick for my taste.
And hell yea I like the way those front and rear CBI bumpers look. They are unique. I've never seen anybody on this site rocking one of those yet.
I might buy both the front and rear ones lol. After all you cam get both bumpers for jist sloghtly more then what one front ARB or WARN bumper would cost. It's worth it for me.

AHHHHHHHHHH, ....now you're making me think about more stuff that I want but have managed to store away in my 'SHUT UP, YOU DON'T NEED THIS!' dept! hahahahaha.... Nah, Jk, I never stop THINKING about all that stuff... IT'S SOME NICE STUFF!
Hmmmmm, I still like Scotty's... And I DO like the CBI's..... Just don't like not having my BACK WINDOW obstructed in view! I TOTALLY get it... it's 'THIS OR THAT' kinda thing.... Not ideal having the spare UNDER the truck! haha... BUT, I can't tell you how many times I've had close calls, driving in L.A., where if that window back there WAS blocked? Oh yeah, it'd either have been a wreck or even closer. NOT MY driving... cuz the 4Runner is pretty good for 'seeing in blind spots'... BUT.... THEY/THEM/THOSE PEOPLE! hahaha...
But then, the roof is too high, cuz then I can't fit in lots of Garages/MY OWN, haahaha....
I can't EVEN decide which one I like best... But I think the CBI ARE the most aggressive/unique looking, for sure! Especially the front! However, I just really like that boxed off one of Scotty's... The low stinger, ya know? That style, especially the wrap around in the rear... I would think either one, front or rear, is going to be MUCH lighter, too, no?
Wow, just a tough one, man.... I can't say I envy you in having to decide on that! hahaha.

I think the first choice between the 2 would definitely be the fromt bumper. That makes a dramatic difference as far as looks go. And that is usually the first thing people look at when they see your truck.
As far as the rear goes i totally agree with you man. That blind spot is bad. That's actually the main reason why I want something that will have my tire more on the driver side the the passenger side. So i can still see out of the back when I look over my shoulder to make a right hand lane change.
But yea dude that CBI front bumper looks killer since its a kit its gonna need some putting together. And im sure if it needs welding my dad can do that part for me. But yea it looks awesome. That's my #1 choice right now. Then again who knows maybe I won't have money down the line. But w/e its alwYs a possibility. All I know is that my SAS,lift, gears & locker(s) come first. That most important. Then rock sliders. And last bit not least these bumper choices.
I'm sure if I was still living at home with my parents I could definitely get all the stuff I want out of the way within 4-6 months if I really wanted to. Lol ah man wishful thinking. Lol don't judge me! Jk

I just thought I'd share some pictures with you guys of the 2 neighbors i used to go offroading with in my old red 86 22r pickup 4x4. I havent gone off-roading with them since i got the 4runner yet. but once i get the SAS/lift/gears&locker(s) then ill be worthy of hitting the crazy trails with these 2 guys again.
The Tan colored 85 pickup is my parents neighbor with 5"lift and 35"Tires
the White 4runner is His sons. And I believe its an 89 4runner with chevy axles 4"lift with either 33's or 35's not sure what he's rockin in these pix.
Both trucks use 4.88 gears and bother trucks have front and rear detroit lockers. These guys are mean ol' offroad addicts lol
CANT WAIT TILL MINE IS ABLE TO DO THIS! ahhhh DROOOOOOOOL!!!!
Ed.... This one is for you (smitty bumper lover!)

as you already know. the CBI are weld together kits. that is why they are so much cheaper. i was gonna go the CBI bumpers but they took to long to come out. than i wanted the rear bumper from CBI but the one in toyota 4wd owners magazine which is different than the one they currently sell. they said they can only do it if i bring my truck to them. i do hope you get the CBI front and rear. i wanna see how hard it is to put together. mainly the rear. it could be a nice start for me. oh i forgot, the rear 400 price tag doesnt include the swing out
#349
Those bumpers arent cheap but do alot for the truck besides the looks. Be glad to get to that point someday myself. Sorry to hear the SAS parts didnt work out for you. A little at a time and you will get there. That is what will make you more appreciative of your truck when done. Having to piece it together a little at a time. Just flopping down the cash and having it done in a day wouldnt mean as much later on. Would be nice though, I could get use to that real QUICK.

Thanks terry. Yea man. Lack of funds has held me back by a lot. Didn't want to get pushed to the point I'm having to sell stuff but. I've been considering selling my "new to me" Peavey 6505plus High gain output guitar half-stack head. I have only had it for about 5 months now. Works like a charm and spent $620 on it alone took me a long time to find a great deal like it did. But I need to pay for SAS parts and that would definitely bring in some major cheddar! It sells for $1200 brand new. And i bought ot for $620 only because the guy needed cash fast due to being laid off. I can easily sell it for $800 maybe $890 if I include my Ibanez tube screamer overdrive pedal. and I always have an extra guitar head for my band and shows just a waaaaay cheaper version and lower gain output. But.... That will definitely pay off all if not the majority of my missing SAS parts. Then all that I would need to get would be rear gears front and rear lockers and shocks.
It'd be a good deal. My girl has been stressing over not having a car for a few months now and i wanna help her out, I really do. I thought so many times about giving her my car or just putting her on my insurance(cuz I really don't wanna sell my 25mpg Daily Driver car to buy her a truck) bit she isn't too comfortable with driving stick even after I showed her) and she's been getting really impatient and frustrated because shes been helping me out with my truck and she sees me looking at parts and upgrades (and buying that Peavey head when I didn't have to have it;but it was too good of a deal) so she's been very frustrated and been anxious to get herself something. I wanna help her out and make her happy but can't due to being held back on this project. So I might go through with selling my Peavey guitar head so i can pay for all these parts I need so I can help her out sooner.
It just sucks because that Peavey head is one of the best guitar heads in the industry. It's up there with B52 and Mesa boogie amps. And with this head I have now I know I will never have to upgrade this head ever again because this is as good as it gets. Especially for the type of heavey hardcore music that I play. Getting rid of it is gonna be a huge sacrifice on my part. But getting my dream truck fixed my just be that much more worth it to part with it ya know.
I've gotta put some more thought into this decision before i go through with selling it. Any opinions would be of aome great help in making my decision.

I feel ya man, my egnater head died out 4 months back and I've put off fixing to get stuff for my truck or I'll look at some of my pedals or guitars and think about all the crap I could get of I sold them but it's not worth it in the long haul man. All in due time bro.
#352
Oh yea I hear ya on that one. I have 6 pedals lol.
Boss MetalZone, Boss NS-2 noise suppressor, DigiTech RP-80 multi effects pedal, Original Crybaby wah pedal, Ibanez TS9 deluxe Tube screamer pedal, Boss RC-3 recording/looping pedal. And a 3 switch Peavey food switch lol all packed into a big pedal board I built. But I don't think ill ever sell all of those pedals.
Here is a video of myself doing a review of the RC-3 looping pedal and playing a guitar solo of mine. You can get a glimpse of the pedal board i built in the video. This video was shot prior to buying my Peavey 6505+ Tube Head and Tube screamer pedal. The song starts at about 1:40 or so.
http://youtu.be/Z_1c8LAY7to
Heres a better view.

Here is my spare "Ibanez toneblaster head" amongst all my other toys. lol

I know what you mean. It's so hard to part with hat stuff. Especially when its such a good head like the one i have. It's just one of the best of the best out there. Kind of a hard decision.
But then again I've been getting everything I want for myself while my girl has just been there on the side just watching my happiness. I feel kinda guilty getting everything I want while my girl has so many things she wants but can't get due to my project ya know. Idk. What to do in this situation.

Lol kinda hard to part with her. We've been together over 4 years and we live together. I love her too much to leave so spontaneously like that. Only thing I've considered doing is both of us moving back in with our own parents for a good 4-6 months just so we can save on bills and big rent bills. This way I can fix my truck quicker with the money I save on bills and still help my parents with bills.
Only thing is I'm 23years old gonna be 24 in 4 months. I need my privacy and my sex lol plus ill feel weird. Even though ill be helping my parents with money I'd still feel like I'm freeloading.

I went to my Girls uncles Auto Parts store today and showed him the pictures of the manifold removal link taht i just posted in the previous post. and we read over everything and the haynes manual and came to the conclusion that the whole manifold does NOT need to be removed. Its only the very top part; the Intake Plemum. So it'll be a much easier job and shorter. I spent $6 on the top intake plenum gasket. and thats all i need.(at least i hope)
So I'm gonna get started on working on this tomorrow.
I'll post lost of pix. And i am gonna go ahead and clean out the carb on the inside of the plumum like somebody suggested for me to do earlier.
I'm gonna check out the axle rebuild kits later. gotta do one thing at a time.
BTW To any of you guys who are very picky on your CV axles.(chef) lol this auto store sells original CV axles REBUILT original made in Japan parts.
I know some of you will be interested in this type of a deal. Anyway He sells each one for only $50. Comepletely rebuilt with new boot, bearings and grease.
For those of you who cant believe it or wanna say its a piece of crap deal; hey im not trying to start anything. If you wanna find out for yourselves give him a call and ask him yourself. All i know is that these guys are really honest and Extreamly helpful. They, and their mechanic, helped me with the entire rebuild process of my engine AND SOME! I just remember him telling me that the reason they're so cheap is because they're all rebuilt and because he's friends with the guy who rebuilds them so he buys them cheap and is able to sell them cheaper then other places. But he told me its the original Toyota CV's all the good "Made in Japan" stuff and not that cheap China stuff.
Anyway, For those of you guys who are interested in the deal or have questions for them here is the info to their store. LUCKY for you SoCal guys it is local for you. But for everyone else I believe they do ship. in case you are interested in that too. Any way here is the info right off the card:

DAYUMMMMMMM! I keep losing my POSTS! AHHHHHH! hahaha. OK, anywhooooooooo>>>
Dang, ... DREADED CODE 52, EH? First, if I CAN help tomorrow, I WILL! I am working until around 11 or 12 at the latest... But I still might be of use, lol. Second, are you SURE you have a knock sensor that's bad? Did it break off or something?(can't remember, don't see it on this page.. .have to read back, sorry)....
My buddy I told you about, with the SICK White 88 V6 Runner.... He did a BIBLICAL PROPORTION WRITE UP ON THIS! haha... BUT, I have to find it. For now, until I read back on what happened/what made this mechanic think it's not the often more likely 'pig tail' issue or wiring to the ECM,etc..... Just curious. I also am curious how you'd get that out without removing the intake... NOT saying it's impossible... I wouldn't know as I've not torn that deep into one of these, lol.... But still curious, nonetheless. VERY tight in there... wanna be sure you have everything you need, JUST IN CASE, ya know?
Anyway, here's one I thought you'd like to read........

I am going to make sure this post makes it on there. I see my last post didnt make it. My laptop, love it and hate it. Maybe you wont have to sell the guitar, hope it all works out for you. Keeping the half happy makes a big difference though.
I will check into the CV shafts. Hopefully shipping wont be a killer. I would much rather have Toyota shafts anyday over the remand ones from parts stores.

anyway, keep us updated, buddy!
