I guess if that's all stuff you need.... that's what it's gonna cost. Keep your eyes open for lift kits that people are selling/parting out, etc., too, ya know? Like said, ...."never know what might come up while you're saving up
"
That's why, in part, I don't have anything negative to say about someone buying something 'ready to go'... People NEVER get their money back, it's just the sacrifice of having what you want, even if just for a while, ya know? But the other part of the equation is that I'm always nervous buying other people 'work'.... Never know for sure how long that 'already built' thing is gonna last.
Something like Scotty's son's rig? Seriously... I wouldn't think twice about that if it was reasonable... I'D BE ON IT! hahaha... But I doubt it would be too reasonable... cuz it's got His name all over it and it's almost all pretty new/just finished project, ya know? It's a real catch 22 at times.. but when you build something bottom up, it's almost always better... NOT just cuz you did it yourself, while that's important, yes... ALSO, because you KNOW what's in there and that it was done right. And even if it wasn't... it seems to tick you off less when you have to fix it, cuz you can say, "Oh well, I screwed up, ..back to the drawing board!" lol... When the other guy screwed it up and it grenades on you as YOU PULL IN THE DRIVEWAY, lol... That's filled with more of the "OMGOSH, WHERE'S MY BAT?" kind of feelings, ya know? hahaha.
YEP, THIS MOD/SWAP/UPGRADE FOR MANY IS A SACRIFICE, in money, blood, sweat and tears, NO DOUBT! People like Scotty still have rough spots, I'm sure... but they have EVERY PERFECT TOOL FOR THE JOB at their fingertips! hahaha.. Plus, they weld, fab, mod all day long. I always get a kick out of some of the SAS threads I read that say, "Well, started the SAS on Friday, ... SUNDAY MORNING I'M DONE, WOOOT!" hahaha... It just blows me away! lol. But hey, if you have everything planned out as much as possible... all the parts ready, nothing defective.... fluids on hand... You can do it quicker than you think, I'm sure, Richard. I BET you those guys you know will lend a hand, yeah?

I'm not positive, Richard... but I think even the Addicted kit is the same one that Marlin and Wabbit sell? Different prices but same stuff's? Call Scotty and find out, would be my recommendation. If you could do the eliminator and sell the shocks, buy the shocks you want and the rear lift... maybe you'd save money? I don't know... Find out how much the hi steer is alone?

Ctrl + zoom in(aka scroll out on mouse) will work for the mean time. I'll take full scans of them when i get home from work.
BTW that was hilarious Mark and terry u both had me laughing at my seat lol.
Thanks Ed I will make sure to get quotes from those places. I might be able to save a couple hundred dollars.

I cleaned up the rear axle today. I couldn't find the source to the leak so I Wiped it all down. I'm gonna run the truck a couple miles then check on it. Hopefully then, it will be clear to see where its coming from on a clean axle. Oh BTW on some some parts it looked really caked on there. So this is probably an old leak. But I'm gonna check it out right now.
BTW I Posted up the scans of the estimates in place of the ones you guys couldnt read so Scroll up to see it.

JEEEEZ!!!! i just had this whole huge breaking news update typed out and i, somehow, accidentally went back to the previous page and couldnt go back to what i had just typed. MAN!!!!
Toyo, You are one lucky guy to have Marlincrawler and TrailGear local to you. The only major store we have is AllPro and that is an 87 mile drive(from my house). only other thing we have is "4wheelparts" stores all over but those usually cost the more then all the other major places.
Mark That is really funny.
I mean thats kinda sad, but funny.
lol jk glad you figured that one out ha haa I find that macro to be one of the most useful ones to use when i have trouble reading things. Hey don’t feel bad… I actually learned that one by accident. hahah
-------------------------------------------
Well something really made my day today. When I went to take my truck for a drive I decided to go visit my 2 dogs at my parents’ house. And while I got there I seen my neighbor(the one with the tan 85 pickup) and we began talking about my future plans with the truck and costs and where am I getting my parts from and have I got somebody to install everything etc etc… Anyway to make a long story shorter he ended up asking me, so how much is it gonna cost to install everything. And I told him I didn’t have anyone yet then he replied well.. if you don’t mind waiting a few weeks or 2 months we can do it right here(meaning his back yard garage) and I was so surprised he offered I was like WHAAAAAA!?!?!??
I was happy and I told him of course I don’t mind. He just made sure to tell me(obviously; and same thing you guys all told me) make sure you rebuild your axles so we have them ready for install.
When the time comes to rebuild my front axle im going to take out that AuburnGear Locker off his sons Toyota axle that he doesn’t need and install that one into my front axle with the restoration kit and(hoping; crossing fingers) the 5.29 gears too if theyre in good condition. Ill install the new Spartan locker and 5.29 gears in the rear and rebuild the rear axle if needed when the time comes. Its so gonna be worth it!
I was suppressing the need to want to jump up and down
and in person I was trying to keep my cool but in my head I was like
SWEEEEEEEEEETNEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Muah hahahahah lol But yea I’m just extremely happy that now I have somebody, that i trust and know has done it before, to help me with this big wall I had to overcome. AND I’ll DEFINITELY LEARN AS I GO. I will take TONS of pix as I go through the experience and really all to be able to look back on all this stuff on my build thread ya know.
After all this I told him I would at least give him some kind of compensation for his time hard work helping me out. and he told me “No no no no. No problem, I do this stuff for fun, its like a hobby for me. I’ve known you since you were a kid and we are neighbors; just come over to help me and it will be ok. Then he said So long as you test out your truck with us first don’t worry about it. But….. I think I’ll still try to give him a little something for his time. I don’t wanna feel guilty ya know. is that a bad thing?
All I know is that I’m super grateful to have a friend like him in my life where I can go to him for advice on my truck and now this.
Is it wrong that I can’t stop smiling right now
lol WOOOOT WOOOT WOOOOOOT! haha
TIME TO DO THE HAPPY DANCE!!!

FANTASTICAL! hahaha... TOLD YA! Those guys LIVE for that, man.. And sure, they don't always do everything for free... but he obviously has a lil time to help you and was probably helped a lot himself, ya know?
You can offer, making sure, and then if he says no a second time... DROP IT! Honestly, nothing bugs me more than when I offer and make clear that i want nothing.. and they KEEP COMING! What you CAN do is order up a feast or something, one day when you know you'll be waiting for something to dry or something like that... and BAM, a big catering tables full of stuff arrives! Keep em in cold ones and grub and I'd BET you he will be happier than if you try to press payment on him. I CAN'T speak for him, Richard, obviously.. but you know him... Does he mean what he says? Ok, well if he does, and he said NO, NO, NO, 3 times? That means NO! hahaha.
WHAT A BLESSING, man! VERY happy for you! Tell him I'm next! eh chemmmmmm! hahahaha.

Lol thanks Mark. yea dude. that really made my day. He is really fit for the job too he works with machines all the time. and said he has a torch cutter or w/e its called at his work and a welder as well. If i remember correctly this guy works with airplane stuff. i really cannot recall what exactly but he is definitely qualified to use those tools.
My dad knows how to weld but when i asked him if he thought he could he did say i can but hes not sure if he would feel confortable doing it considering it is a vehicle and his own sons safetly relies on those welds lol. So im glad.
As far as that Auburn locker im still not sure how much his son is willing to sell it for or give it away. idk... but ill let you guys know when he tells me. i wanna see if it would be worth taking his or buying a 2nd spartan locker. i just know that if i do take his off his hands that will be a good $250-280 i wont have to be spending on 1 of the 2 lockers i need. That covers about 1/2 the cost of 1 CBI bumper
hahah

That's awesome news Richard! I bet that's a big weight off your shoulders! I know when I did my SAS I hit a brick wall when it came time to cut the holes out in the frame for the frame tubes. Then out of the blue a guy responded to some parts I had forsale on CL, I got to talking to him, he welded for a living, and I ended up trading him the doors off my parts truck for him to plasma cut the holes out for me, and he welded in the frame tubes, plus he welded in my front springhanger! I felt a lot more comfortable having a pro do it then me, plus he had all the right tools for the job, and brought them to my house and did all the work right there (which was good since my runner was up on blocks, and id already cut all the ifs suspension off it, lol) I also had him inspect the welds that I had done on the spring hanger that I built, and he said they look real good, it also made me feel better that he was a toyota guy, and he had done SAS's on his and others trucks, so now I have no concerns when driving my runner, you know! Anyway glad you were able to find someone, it really helps to know people!!! Ha, ha.
P.S: I feel your pain on losing everything you typed on your post, I always use my phone, and have had that happen several times,.lol!

Didnt have band practice today so i had time to finally replace that broken BVSV and connect it correctly. And clean the intake plenumn as best as i could.
The whole process of this took me a good 3 hours maybe 3&1/2.
I kept looking bak on that Intake manifold removal yotatech thread for most of the project but i did happen to take a couple of pix and videos.
before pix:

All the major clutter of hoses cleared to make room for my big ol' hands.

Finally got the plenumn off! lol this damn piece gave me such a hard time that when i finally did take it off i was like "YESSS!!! IM VICTORIOUS!!!!!" lol till i ran into my next problem. My advice to anyone who ever needs to take this part off is Just remember after all the hoses and screws are removed THERE IS ONE MORE HOSE UNDERNEATH THE PLENUMN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE! i wish i would have known that. That could have saved me a good 15 minutes of scratching my head.

So that piece i mentioned in the video, did become a problem for me. i thought i was gonna have to remove both sides of the, im guessing their called the, injectors? idk all i know is that i could not remove the BVSV and i was breaking my head over how to do it but i didnt wanna tred on anything that has to do with my gasoline. and so i left it as is. then i realized that the whole cluster of sensors and connections on the piece in my next video had 2 nuts on it that could be removed to then be able to take off and remove with no problem.

I dont know if you were able to make out what i said in the last part of the video but while i tried to take off the bvsv with that whole thing still mounted onto the motor it began to leak like antifreeze like crazy which is why you see the whole street under my truck wet lol.
See i just assumed that there wouldnt be any need to drain my antifreeze because iw asnt taking off the whole manifold. just it turns out the plenumn does have antifreeze running through the metal pipes inside. so BEWARE do not drop any into the holes for your manifold.
Anyway once the piece was taken off everything else was super easy to put back together. I even bought a new gasket for the plenumn to manifold. it only costed me about $6 so definitely worth it. Right Chef, if it doesnt cost too much to just replace it just stay on the safe side and replace it even though the one i took off was still brand new from when i had the motor rebuilt.
When I was putting everything back together I found myself spending about 30 min of my time dedicated to just finding one connection right above my EGR pipe that goes into the plenumn. I eventually found it way toward the bottom tucked into the back. Then I remembered I moved it back there when I first started to get it out of the way lol. Wish I would have remembered that. Haha
Oh and btw while the plenumn, egr, and pipes where out i did take the time to spray with some carb cleaner and wipe down as best as i could. it looked pretty clean whne i was done, sorry no pix. btw the plenumn was the hardest to clean. so much build up. i took most of it off but there was still a bit left on it. i just decided to put everything back together because my head felt like it was gonna pop in this 104-107 degree wheather. the only thing that was keeping me from passing out was the shade from the tree i parked under and the 5-7 cups of cold water i was drinking.
I gotta admitt this whole job was really intimidating to me due to the fact that i didnt have anyone who knows what to do supervising me. this is honestly the biggest job ive ever done by myself. I do have to say im pretty proud of myself. Saved myself a good $146 by doing it myself. not bad for someone who isnt familiar with any engine work right. thanks guys for sharing your stories with me about how you learned to work on cars that really inspired me to take this job on.
Once everything was back on and connected properly. I made sure i didnt have anything unplugged or any missing screws lol then i took a trip down to Autozone and bought some RedLine Water Wetter and some prestone antifreeze. Got back poured it in and took a trip to the local 76 gas station to fuel up. I wanna test out my truck this week and see if there is any difference in gas mileage now that that piece is installed. LETS HOPE IT GOES FROM 15.76MPG to 19(hope its not wishful thinking)

Oh and btw when i got back from the 76 gas station drive with my truck i took a look under the truck and i noticed that my rear driverside shock was leaking some kind of fluid. kinda looked like cloudy water. i think i may have found the source to the oil. but then again i could have just went over a gutter too. I'm gonna try to drive it around again today some time and take another look

Sorry it was so hot... I can relate, was doing a bit of that myself today. NOTHING solved, lil bit figured out, etc., etc. .. .Just goes on and on until its' solved... all there is to it, eh?
PS> Even if you MIGHT be doing auto work on a following day.... TAKE IT EASY the night b4, homie!
Take care, Richard, .. good job man!

Alright guys I think I finally confirmed that my leak is coming from my rear driverside shock. Sorry there is no explanation in this video at all. I will try to re record another video later today. I was just pressed for time because I was running late to work so I just did something quick to be able to post up for your guys's feedback on what you may think it is.
Till I record a new video here is this one with my explanation of what you see typed out.
- As you can see the whole bottom half of my shock is all wet in some oil or liquid and u can see its coming from the shock where the bottom half meets or goes into the top half. I'm not experienced with these sort of problems at all but I think its pretty clear that that isnt a good sign lol anyway as I show the axle you can also see that the axle is wet; my guess is that its coming from the shock. Or maybe i have 2 completely different leaks going on. But for now my best guess would be that my leak is coming from that rear driver side shock.
Tell me what you guys think it might be. Thanks.

Oh and btw about what you said "Even if you MIGHT be doing auto work on a following day.... TAKE IT EASY the night b4, homie!" I totally agree with you. I dont usually party too hard and im not usually out till 4am like i had done that day. but i was providing the sound system for the party so i had to stay lol. and i wanted to have a fun time with my buddies so i went all out. lol little did i know i was gonna have this horrible hangover to deal with mixed with the 104 degree weather lol.
but yea i totally get you man thanks for the advice.

Hahahah... HEY, I'm not that old that I'm giving you 'C-GOM-ADVICE'(Condescending, Grumpy Old Man Advice) hehehe....
