Finally did new brake shoes and springs this weekend, cheap quick and easy! I ended up with an extra spring.hardware kit if anyone wants it, ordered 2 when I only needed 1

Also swapped in a new MOOG SSD89 steering stabilizer, "used" on amazon so I got it for $9.97 (new, just damaged packaging)

Did the first oil change and got the break in oil out, took a sample to send to blackstone

On a side note, I need to paint my chassis :/

Leaks:
1. Lost a band on the half axle, looks like that's allowing stuff to leak out. Not sure if I can just replace the band or if I should replace the whole half axle
2. Tranny was wet :/ will have to keep an eye on it. Could be one of the seals I replaced.
3. Might have a bit of leaking from the front oil pan bolts, or could be weeping from a different bolt or seal. (note the oil on the pulley is just from me spilling during the oil change)
4. PS pump looks to be leaking, added to the to-do list

Update after driving a few days, that stabilizer makes a huge difference

I have a bulkier idler arm I plan to put on soon as well, there is a tiny amount of vibration in the wheel and I wonder if that'll help

Pleased to say the engine has been running great, didn't drive during the winter, started driving this spring and (now that I have a shop I'm parking in!) I'm seeing I've got a rear main issue of some sort to address

So I got a transmission jack! Guess I'll have to pull it and figure out what's up. Sleeved and replaced the seal, guess I'll find out what I botched

Are you sure it is not gear oil? Either way you gotta drop that tranny. I had a significant leak there that turned out to be tranny input seal.

Yea, tranny fluid was still pretty new and red in color, this is definitely oil

I replaced both engine output and tranny input seals, so either way I botched something

Finally, an update! Been stupid busy since all these lockdowns began

Weather got nice so I finally started working on the truck again. First up is the revving at stoplights, need to adjust the TPS position as I learned during my rebuild.

Well I popped the hood and low and behold I'm missing two valve cover acorn nuts! Also some oil in the throttle body. Thoughts on if those are related? Or if it's just from excessive blowby during break-in?

Anyway, proceeded to clean up and adjust the throttle body. Put her back together and she runs good as ever. I'll take her for a test drive tomorrow and verify that fixed the issue

Ordered oem Toyota power steering pump rebuild kit for $45 shipped

Part no 04446-20031 - NOTE FROM THE FUTURE, WRONG KIT

And, cautiously optimistic that my 'rear main' issue is fixed. Looks like it might've just been leaking from the valve cover!

Nothing like a deadline, eh. Trying to get a bunch of stuff knocked off the list before the July trip.

Rebuilt the power steering pump following this thread (and the FSM) https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...g-pump-250677/
The kit part number is 349030

Disassembled the combination switch and (hopefully) fixed the high beam issue following the 4crawler writeup
https://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTr...eadlight_Combo

Also replaced the horn contact, thereby fixing the horn (part number 84312-20011)

On the way are:

- ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, (already have an idler arm) and linkages for a full steering rebuild
- all 3 brake drop hoses
- Dorman C93740 parking brake cable. Hopefully it fits. That will be the last thing I need to wrap up my Trail Gear All-Pro T-case driveline parking brake

Still to do, the plain old oil change, a spare wheel and tire

Maybe to do - hunt down the rattle from my cabin air blower fan, install some good speakers (which I already have), and we'll see what the weather is like... may decide to stop by an AC shop on the way out of town and cut a check to get the system switched over to the new stuff.

A side note - ryobi 18V electric impact wrench... amazing, I don't think I'll ever have a reason to buy an air powered one

Got the tie rods swapped... Not without breaking 3 different tools
(Harbor freight wasn't exactly up to the task)
