I feel stupid for not noticing this before but my runner has no AAV valve like my 88 truck?? The deal that sits below the intake that connects to the port on top of the throttle body. On my runners throttle body the port is blocked off from the factory with like a pressed in plug. Is this cause its an auto??

Have a big project this week...My neighbors Lexus GS450??? i think??? Its the same as a landcruiser, its a 96.Anyways a squirrel got into the engine bay and chewed almost halfway through the main wiring harness. Its in a diffucult spot to get to also. The vehicle wont even run so i have to push it into my shop and start working on it. The fuel pump relay was lying on the inner fender with all wires chewed off and i have no idea where it goes.

My camera is still messed up. sucks. Im trying to get a new battery for it but i dunno if it will fix it anyways. I will post alota pics ive been slacking on when i fix it or get a new one. Its crazy how this squirrell molested the wiring on this lx450. i bought a new soldering tool today, the ol' iron wasnt gonna cut it for this job

So i had to take some things loose like the abs control under the hood, the electrical box which holds some relays and fuses, and then i could get the wiring harness on the lexus lx450 (like its a millenium falcon or something...loL)to move around a little so i can have some room to solder and heat shrink the wiring harness. Not very much room to work with and im impressed with the soldering/torch/heat tool i purchased. It uses butane, the torch tool w tips was $45, and the butane was $11. I was hoping the harness on the inside would unplug, but it just tied in w loom and tape that then routes under the dash and othe unknown realms in the lexus world.I WOULD NEVER OWN ONE OF THE THESE WAY TO MUCH FANCY BULLS%iT!!! Hopefully i can have most of the wiring fixed tomorrow. Maybe someday ill be able to work on my own rig.

Temparature was in the 50's today so i took the oppurtunity to wash the crap off the runner (salt and other nasty stuff the road deapartment puts on the roads around here). Suppost to get cold again. Ill be finishing up the lexus project for my neighbor and i think im gonna pull the runner in the shop to start on the rear qaurters. I plan on doing one at a time starting with the drivers side first beings its the worst of the two. i cant stand looking at it when i walk by it, its an eyesore. It will look sweet even with new metal and primer for all i care, just no rust. The rest of the body is really straight and i plan on stripping the factory decals eventually and putting a fresh coat of white, maybe some pearl too.

I finished up the neighbors lexus lx450 this morning just in time for a fresh powdery snow!!! No lights on the dash, runs smooth, and all the electrical components seem to be working correctly. I still need to fix a peice of windsheild washer hose but other than that its sitting in his driveway ready to go. I thought Bries 97 limited was nice until i drove this lexus lx450. It has way more options including a 3rd row seat, bose stereo, factory diff lock on both axles with the front being a high pinion straight axle. Not to mention leather interior blah blah blah. But honestly i still like the limited because its not so complicated with wiring and more crap to worry about. Im mainly happy to have my space back in the shop to work on my own stuff now.

Good job on getting the Lexus running. Squirrels and rats can do wonders on electrical things. They never chew on an area that is easy to get to.
I bought some rocker panels off of Wolf Steel and liked the quality. I dont know what the quality of the pieces you are needing are. Could try keeping an eye out for a set of boneyard metal. Do they get rusted like that in your area on the boneyards?

Akk. I just typed a long winded post about how to use fiberglass mat to rebuild those rear quarters but it got deleted as I struggled to post pictures. You need gloves, fiberglass mat about a quart of two part epoxy, wax paper duct tape, and rust proofer to treat cut ends. I removed the rear interior panels of my 4Runner. Cut out bad metal, treat edges and smooched wetted layers of fiberglass mat from the inside. Put wax paper on the outside and used duct tape and paint sticks to hold it in place til it dries. With the wax paper you can smoosh it into the shape you need and it dries pretty quickly. Then I put on a second layer. You then wipe it down with Dawn or Purple Power and then a thin layer o Bondo. I wish I'd taken better pics. I'll put a couple in the next post.
