Thanks for helping him out Terry. Hes put more miles and seen more places with my old runner than i ever did. I think hes educated on front hubs and bearings now. 6 degrees here this morning, be a good day to call in and stoke the fire all day and work on the 87 truck of my dads. I picked up a w56 to replace the g52 tranny thats binding up after being driven for awhile. However im being held up by two broken crossmember bolts on the transfercase. Im gonna end up welding a couple washers and nuts to try and get them out.

I think that welding nuts on is the way to go. Just from seeing the pic you sent me.

Hopefully getting some snow tonight, get to try out the runner in snow with the front locker. Last night i was able to remove 1 of the 2 broken bolts in the tcase on the w56 trans. I had a freind tig some washers and nuts on what was left of the bolts. we were able to remove 1 but the other broke off twice before i called it quits and went back to my shop to install the w56 in the 87 truck of my dads. A couple neighbors came over and tried to help but ended up being a major WRECK. One dude kept grabbing onto the shift fork and moving it while we were lining up the tranny to the 22r and after multiple times of telling him to keep his hands off it GUESS WHAT!!?? he knocked the throwout bearing off with the clips. At this point i was pissed and quit for the evening. I did reposition the throwout bearing again. Sometimes its better to do things by yourself. Its about 2 degrees outside, burnin lotsa wood in the shop to stay warm. After i get my dads truck outta the shop i think im focusin on my own projects. Hopefully get the w56 in and finished up today.

I try to use several long screw drivers to act as guides when working by myself. Sometimes it goes in quick and easy then other times not so much.

I am looking for a wood burner for my shop as well. I think that is the only way to go for me out in the shop. We got about 6 inches of snow, I had my 4th season, time for spring now.lol

As for the wood burner...Im running 2 55gal barrels in my 25x30 shop. I have $18 in the whole setup. I think the screwdrivers as guides is a good idea. I think maybe the guidepin might be broke off in the tranny from the PO its bein a pain and i can get it 1/2inch away from being together. Im pulling it out in the morning and trying again for the 3rd attempt.

I am having a hard time finding a photo of it. Ill see what i can do. Its simple to build just need 2 55gal barrells and the kit for the doors and legs. Or make your own door and legs. Im running 2 dampers. Its cheap easy and effective heat source.

Well i took the runner out in the snow, wow the locker handles good but you have to hang on tho the wheel, it pulls the frontend around pretty quick.

I finished up the tranny in my dads 87. Felt like an idot cause the w56 still had the upper dowel pin in it when i tried installing it (of course the original dowel pin was on the 22r still which was why it wouldnt mate up. went together great after i removed the pin on the tranny. Dad took it out in the snow and the used w56 is a success and working well.

Dont feel bad about the dowel pin. I was helping HighLux put his tranny in and I did the same thing. Would of had it in so much quicker had we removed it the first time. Thing was I meant to see if it was needed before putting it on the tranny jack. Doh!!!

As far as the dude goes messing with the T-case while you are putting it in, I would have beat his A$$ .

Glad you got dads truck up and running.

Your runner looks mean in the snow photo.

Woot snow wheeling time!

I like the idea of snow wheeling but isn't it scary not knowing what lies under the snow?

Is this the type of wood stove you made? They are a kit and you weld or rivet the parts on an oil drum. I always thought they were cool. This kit si $33 on eBay.

Yes that's what he has. we are in the process of building a new one with some tubes in the top barrel with a fan behind it. Increased surface area will heat better.
