Finally ordered my tps. I picked one up from Irens auto online. Its a OEM toyota 89452-20050. Its not new but thats why it was only $30 instead of over $100. Installed the starter Monday the sensor wont be here til Tuesday. Then i have to do the dreaded adjustment procedure. Hopefully i have better luck this time dialing it in.

I have managed to not have to adjust one. I am sure my time is coming. Looks to me like there is not a whole lot of room for error. Here is wishing you the best of luck.

Thanks Terry!! Yes ive followed 4crawlers instructions and am familiar with a multimeter and adjusting it but the tps's i have are either screwed up beyond adjustment or i suck at adjusting them cause i can never get the resistance value they call for. the slightest movement and the sensor readings jump all over on my meter. Well find out how this one goes when i get it tuesday.

If you get Allen screws to replace the Oem ones for your tps it makes it much easier to adjust while on the tb. Just take yours to a hardware store and match the threads.

Tps adjustment can be tedious but you will get the hang of it. Alligator clips with the multi meter make it easier.

Good info Philbert, some reason I just never thought of alligator clips for the TPS. Learned something new.

Thanks Philbert. Also if you find a junk wiring harness you could use the tps part of the harness and plug for easier connection on the meter to the tps.

So i received my tps from Irens auto and it looks great for being USED. It was $30 with a warranty and so i try to dial it in (per 4crawler info) which is very detailed and great! But....Im totally frustrated cause it calls for 2.3 ohms or less for being close to correct and my meter reads infinite or as low as i could get was 46.2 or something. I tried a few times and also set my meter at auto and a larger scale too but couldnt get it 2.3 or less. Its so touchy i dont know if theres a easier mode on my meter or what. Its a MAC meter and the tps part number is 89452-20050.I also used a .57mm feeler gauge and was on IDL and E2 terminals on tps.I was doing test 2. It says 0.0 to 2.299.9 is acceptable. However I can not make that happen. WTF!

So i readjusted my tps after work today per LCE website, its different from 4crawler by first adjusting throttle stop screw to where its suppost to be. As for adjustment procedure its the same. I got it to .698 on test 2 and went with that. I charged the battery it was dead (that might be some of my problem too) But anyways i have no check eng light and it runs smoothly but throttle response doesnt seem as good as it should be. I rechecked my timing at base and it was at 5 to 7 degrees. But i cannot remember if my cel was flashing as it should set at base correct?? I tried driving it and it barely had enough power too move around. I will mess with the timing more when i get home from work.

When you adjust timing, you have t and e1 terminals jumped, which are also what you jump to check your cel codes.....do you still have a cel when running?

So when I left work i first removed cat from exhaust and was suprised to see a huge mess of what looked like brillo pads stuck between the exit of the cat and the pipe connecting to it. I pulled it out and there was nothing left inside so i bolted it back up. It is running much better and the throttle response is great. I jumpered T and E1 and set base to 5degrees.Removed jumper and started it and it doesnt seem to advance still. No CEL though. Also the idle will surge like i still dont have tps set correctly. Transmission is shifting great and kicks down when i give it more throttle. I found a header for $60 which i plan on fitting up also.

I appreciate it!! Im not sure if i like the 03 Tacoma 17s with the 285/70 17s Hankook Dynapro mt's. They sit tucked under the rig too much. I might swithch them off and put on the 32 BFG's that are on my 88 truck or the 31's that are on the 85. Only others I have are BFG 235s. too small. I still have a exhaust leak at the downpipe and manifold at the 2 circle type gaskets. Ive already replaced them with new and it still leaks like it has a crack on the flange of the manifold or downpipe??? Sounds like crap! The ac compressor is trying to spin when not running also like the clutch is not adjusted correct.

Hey buddy! I have an extra ac compressor sitting at the shop if you want to swap it out with yours.

Also, I think it would look good with some nice wide black rims and 31's or 32's.

Nice!! I actually think mines ok, just needs the clutch adjusted. Its fall anyways no need for ac for awhile!! I had a great weekend cause i finally gotta wheel the runner. Took my mom out and climbed some stuff she was freakin out. Front locker is workin great. I would much rather have a 5spd over the auto but i just try and take it easy and make it last. The interior is super clean and complete so i would hate to hack out the factory auto console at this point. For a vehicle sitting in a feild for 13 yrs its doin up to par for me.
