Looks like it is going to be happening real soon. It will be back in the drive way before you know it. Might seem like forever when it is gone though.

Should be picking it up from 85Toyman's shop tuesday morning, really pumped to see how he and his guys worked their magic

meanwhile was at harbor freight awhile ago and picked up this cool little gadget, not bad for $10

I was able to get down to a friend of mines shop today to pick up the 4runner. *I was in Texas visiting family last week so pick up was delayed a few days. *I am really happy with what he did with my limited budget.
Had a co-pilot on the way home*

I will probably be swapping to rear leaf springs in the near future. the FJ80 springs I had didn't raise the rear as much as I had hoped.

Looks like a great job was done. A picture with the stock tires on it compared to the new tires really make the stock ones look like donuts. Congrats!!!

I like the bluetooth front driveline! Lol. What are your plans for a replacement? What springs are you going to go with in the rear? Looks great so far!

Thanks Ed- it was hard to get stuff done, 4 people in the neighborhood walking by wanted to take a look and a few slowed down and shouted as they drove by. Hard to get stuff done

Thanks Don! I appreciate your hard work. Hoping to get the 2WD pan on in the next few days. That will allow me to check the flex. Tackling the rear end to check the 5.29 third swapped and the rear shocks mounted.
You were right, that thing with out rear shocks was squirrelly as hell. It was even bouncing on I-5 hitting some bumps on the trailer.

Thanks Terry, Don (85Toyman) and his crew did a great job. I am really happy with it

Haha, I would just about give the parts away if someone wants to pay shipping. I'll get them cleaned up and see what is usable and post an add. I think I may have the front diff sold.

Runs- yep I plan on helping out with the Oregon Trophy challenge, a camping run with Gitout.com and some other stuff.

Thanks Hab, it is a little higher than I was hoping for. May pull a leaf or two.

Bluetooth driveshaft, that is awesome I took a measurement I should be able to use the front shaft from the 81. If that doesn't work it will be a little while before i can order a replacement.
Current rear springs are FJ80. If I end up converting to rear leafs they will be the rear springs from the 81, hence the name project recycle. Front springs are off the Trekker too. I'll take it out a couple of times to see how the current system works

tripped over a grinder in the garage and decided to try an idea for adapting the rear swing out to clear the lower part of the rear bumper with a 35" spare
measuring it I would need to raise the mounting surface 2.5-3"

made a stencil out of some old poster stock. my idea is to cut 4 pieces of 11 or 12 gauge steel that I picked up last summer. Angle it so that it will clear the rear, cut the mounting plate and raise it up the distance I need. I'll use a combination of welds and bolts to support it.

test fit of the 1st piece. the red line indicates where i will probably end up angling the bottom to clear the rim

got the idea from this post. I think having the plates on both sides, with a few beads on each side and grade 8 bolts should support it fine.
