well slowly recovering got a head cold an cough as a secondary to the other infection yay.. the accell coil is in my opinion a win
had to punch it the other day dude in a huge f450 decided he didnt want no 4runner to pull out infront of him even if it was safe for me to do so he made it not safe fast
i punched it an the ol girl leaned back lifting the nose an flat scooted fast i left the f450 in the dust i wish id had a accelerometer going i did a good one the idle is far smoother and i have to say theres more power available
bought a greaseable idler arm on ebay an i asked the seller it is greaseable RIGHT? oh yes so i paid extra for it it arrives an its not what was in the picture an not greaseable not a happy dragon tried for a week to get them to message me back about the problem zip zilch so i took it to paypal they refunded my $ so fast i had to blink so got a good idler arm just not a greaseable one i might use it dont know yet
the strikes on the west coast delayed my greaseable shackles till least march
i think i finally have the steel arches for my girl a black 88 is being parted out weather is delaying the cutting but im in no huge rush
then it'll be fixing the sides get some of this stuff a thick vinyl rock guard material for trailers super sticky i think it will be far better replacement for the rock guards by the rear wheels (and along the rockers) which is where a LOT of my rust started so once the steel is in painted get the thick vinyl & heat gun to help mold it to the body no water an dirt behind it anymore
Hope you get well soon. Some drivers out there really make you wonder. I will eventually give the coil a try when I get further down the road. More power is always nice. So far I havent felt the effects of the strikes but wonder how long it will be.
Get better quick buddy! Stupid Ford! Lol.... Great news on the fender wells!
hey chef, i was just in your ruby thread all day yesterday to get info on the foamfoil insulation you used in the back because i can start to see i can plan for it!
Something I have missed? Hope that means you are getting quarter panels soon. Insulation makes a difference in the panels. It will quiet them down a lot.

im getting the arch steel which mines all rusted away i can finally repair the rear quarters an seal up the body shell adding the insulation after gotten the inside all primered painted undercoated weather is keeping the person from doing more cutting (papawheellie) ol girl got rolled but the rear arch metal is un touched an is solid
so today i started working on the tear in the vinyl side panel i got a couple of them repair kits one with an iron to heat cure the material i will report on more tomorrow the adhesive has to cure for 24 hrs in the tear
my tear with the repair kits backing material in there i needed to add some cotton fluff to pad the back so it would be level with the rest of the panel (cotton fluff acquired from old mattress going to the dump)
repair kits
cotton fluff remains an vinyl repair glue that bonds the repair cloth to the rips
repair begun has to sit 24 hrs for the adhesive to set an hold the torn parts i put the tape on to make sure it stays stuck to the cloth an is flat tomorrow i work with color vinyl an grain paper
Great to hear you getting your panels. Dont know how I missed your update on that. Looking forward to your vinyl repair. I did try it one time and it almost came out right. I know it was somethingt I did wrong.
ok the adhesive worked excellently! my color matching an goopy plastering of it not so good but its NOT a tear anymore an thats what is important to me im tempted to use it on the tear on the seam in my roof vinyl
also put some in the cracks in my dash needs a second treatment BUT it did fill the cracks an should help keep them from getting worse just had to be in a corner where the flat heating iron cant get easy
after adhesive setting for 24 hrs soild! would not pull up off underlayment
heating iron
mixing colors
first try at color matching i wiped this off an added a bit more black
after heat setting not ...ehh it sucks for a repair but its not a tear anymore
cracks in dash had to add a hardener to the color mix an then put in cracks
after application an heat the fibers are from wiping with paper towel
saw this an thought just how apt it really is
she was heading for the scrapper being parted out i saved her at the last moment an in many ways she saved me
Been a long while since I hung out in the build forum. Wow Cyber, your rig has come such along way from first post.
I like the idea of running fog lights on spare headlight plug after upgraded harness. Hope you don't mind if I run with that one.
Great build!
thanks for coming by the idea comes from newer vehicles so your not running fogs and highs at the same time theres enough people around here that run high beams all the time an its clear weather an thank you it still has more to do just waiting on parts my shackles delayed on the west coast weather delaying the metal cutting

so i bought a roll bar pad an cover from chef (mark) it needed a few fixes an some tlc worst was a tear near where the zipper starts the vinyl bonding liquid an repair cloth fixed it better than if id sewn it
wow she was dirty though (in the grain an stitching) i gave it a good scrub to get the dirt out did the repairs an last night rubbed in leather an vinyl conditioner had a bottle of it from when i wore bull hide boots as a guard made the cover very supple the repairs i think i did a much better job with than the side panel in the truck lol learning process the iron with the kit broke (gotta take it an go braise the thing made of brass) so had to use a normal clothes iron set to near wool did a very good job setting the repair liquid
few pictures of repairs an such
back side at the tear the repair cloth about 3/8in past each side of the tear
after vinyl repair liquid not too bad really no sign of the tear which would have run along the line of my mid finger from the inside heading towards the zipper
about the middle of the cover 1in wear through spot reinforced with repair cloth
applied repair liquid over spot
after heat set not too shabby an the repair is strong
little wear through holes i patched them with cloth an adhesive no repair liquid as once glued they disappeared
same with this one once glued it wasn't visible from the other side
rubbed down with armorall (generic equivalent) and installed looks good now wont have to worry quite as much when the two kids go leaping over the backseat to get in or out...
wiped down before installing lubed the zipper with some silicone
installed on the bar looks good! i can see where some of the wear spots happen the nuts that hold the rear windows in the top are really close to the pad cover
Looks great!! One of these days I need to get one. I have Never had a bumper sticker of any kind but YT is one I will get. There is a heat shield on the frame just below the exhaust manifold.
