well 370 miles on the engine

got the exhaust done now i know how much this truck has been played with from part of the exhaust was 2 inch pipe it was necked down to smaller than an inch ID as they crushed the pipe to fit it into the other pipe an welded it up then it necked back up to 1 5/8 pipe to the muffler where it was fitted with more steel to fit the inlet an gob welded the muffler fell apart totally when removed

SO

new exhaust all 2 inch pipe 02 bung rewelded (they complemented our hand made work an fixed the leaks around the mounting pad) performance muffler an they trimmed the exiting pipe to tuck in nicely at the back of the truck no more exhaust headaches from it dumping on the rear axle

so it came out cheaper than estimated new hangers all along the pipe so its quiet and i noticed an instant change in how she runs much smoother rev she gets up an scoots now much smoother engine idle also i think is getting better feedback from the 02 sensor as its purring like a kitten

so plan next month rotors pads calipers front shocks

if they get the rear bushings done (backordered) ill do them as well

Glad to hear exhaust come out cheaper then what you had orgianally thought and it is running better. That is always great news. After bringing one back from the conditon it was in, makes you really appreciate the work you got into it.

I had a guage that was difficult to reset. I took it apart to see what was holding it up and never did figure it out. You should hit around 18 mile per gallon of all is going well. Wishing you luck.

WELL today started out ok but wow can things go wrong
so i took some pictures but ran into difficulties so here we go...

the truck gona go ahead an change oil an filter too so got a good filter an good quality oil but we went after the front end first

i know some of ya'll knew my brakes have had a pulsing well we found out why! rotor was bad really bad terribly worn weight wise its over a pound lighter than the passenger side

the side by side (drivers is on the left next to the pass on the right) you can just see the warp in the rotor (air gap) this thing is literally BENT out of alignment huge size difference too

i went after the drivers side to get the dust/splash shield put on long time since we pulled the rusted out flapping in the wind old one off (before i even got the engine back from being machined)

wasnt hard as i expected to be honest one of the two broken off bolts once i started drilling came right loose an i twisted it out on the drill bit the other fought me a bit

the shocks were...ummm they wont fit so got to get new NEW ones

i cleaned up the hubs after we got over the stunning from how bad the rotor was on the drivers side ive personally not seen one so Warped that it wore that bad even the brake pad on the side is wedge shaped from top of rotor towards the hub where it was thickest

kris torquing the replacement rotors from mark to my hubs

parts store gave us the wrong pads so another reason have to make the second trip we got the hubs all put back together an wheel bearings all set up hub locks in an had to stop for the night due to parts darn it

hi Will. glad to see you're still working on the runner. Dude i felt bad. A friend of mine called me last weekend and told me there was a red 4runner at the junk yard. practically had all the parts still. And i thought about your rear fender panels. but i dont have a battery powered jig saw and i havent had $$$ to spend for 2 weeks so i couldnt grab them for you.

Hey btw seen you still havent added the BullBar. when is it going on??? lol

when i dont have to buy expensive parts lol the darn shocks i have to have are 50 bucks we had to saws all the passenger side top off as it was so baddly rusted an frozen the big bolt came loose though

i did put it on to look at it see what id have to do the side tabs have to be straightened it needs a coat of paint due to giving the lady of the house 98% of my social security for mortgage power an ect

im not left with much one can of rustolium black would do the fix on it i think i can get that in a few days the idler arm on mine is iffy but definitely dont have the $ for that right now

major work done today yeeha got my rear shocks in and my zuk's finished the front end up as well she STOPS now! i intentionally near panic braked an she hunched over an came to a halt real fast ...i feel better now lol rides a lot smoother too all the shocks were "DEAD" as you will see likely the originals she was built with

ok so lets get the pictures up
finishing up the front end had to cut the drivers side off as well

installing shocks (monroes) marks rebuilt calipers semi metallic pads

an moving on my new used rear shocks with poly bushings (only took 3 tries to get those right sheesh!)

and compared to the ones that were on the truck

and my rear end soon to have zuk's in there to help with the saggy draggin rump

to get the slack needed to slip the coils in we pulled the lower shackle bolts... um... i think im gona need a shackle kit.. yeeeeah...poly spring bushings too...yeeeeeeah...

anyhow! on to the cuttin weldin an fittin!

plasma cutter! onlyway to go! lol still torched the bump stops to bend them out as per needed

we found a fix for the no bump stops on the spring perch we welded on 1.5 tall tube that fit perfectly into the spring to keep them located on top

fits like a glove

zuk's in shocks in WOOT

major improvement! got tire clearance!

springs now have arch! and shes not scuffing the tail on the road lol

and finally a side shot shes got a bit of rake WOOT
kris wants to add a bit to the front torsion bars to level her i agree but need to soak the bolts in pen oil for a bit first

ill still need to get some bolts to put my tow hooks back on the sides of the guard

kris wants to see if we can beef up behind the bumper where the tabs are with perhaps struts to support the guard to triangulate it to the frame so if it were to happen i could push things an not bend things
