i went out an figured lets install the grill guard! figure out how to brace it later

tow hooks off (got tie down an hook on the passenger side just a tie down on the drivers)

get a bolt in the drivers side got a bolt up in the passenger side
an swing it up to be flush....

it dont fit

ok...
i get it god i got it years ago you dont like me
ya dont have to keep smacking me in the head thank you.

got to trim bout half an inch maybe 3/4 off so that it will fit up an over the bumper top

put the tow hooks an tie downs back on for now

If that bull bar came off of a solid axle truck, it wont fit. My 85 had one and Misty wanted it on her truck, there is about an inch difference or so. She still wants one and I used to see them on ebay all of the time, but when I went to get one for her, I could not find one to save my life.

A friend of mine is trying to buy a 89 runner for parts that was wrecked. He will let me have anything off of it that I wants before he scraps it out. I will know something in a week or so and if he gets it, I will be able to get the side panels off of it. I am keeping and eye out and had not forgotten.

I changed the shocks off of my brothers truck and they were the orginal 87 Toyota shocks. What a difference it made in the ride on his truck. I am so ready to get shocks on my runner as well. Hopefully it wont be much longer as they needing replaced badly. I am sure you were impressed in the difference it made in your ride.

Do not know how your rotors warped so bad. On a third gen, it quite common. I just did the drivers side on my third gen 6 months ago and now the passenger side needs turned.

I don't know about that distance, being of that much... But my bumper from Scotty lined up perfectly with another truck that was in there... But on mine, it took a little finagling. Mine has been in a light smack and it only damaged that portion where the crossmember is, so that little tab hanging down where you screw it in was off, so it had to be moved over.....

I second that emotion, you will get it!

nope it came off of richards when it was still an IFS
kris thinks we can move the mounting tabs an shift the ntire thing up a bit an then reweld the tabs to the guard instead of cutting the sides of it this weekend though kris was sick so nothing of that got done my gut has been in knots due to other things

i suspect that the PO got the rotor hot really hot an hit some cold water of a creek it warped BAD and it ruined the pads on that side as well which was the side the splash shield was half falling off from rustout thus why i had to drill out those two bolts an put new in this isnt far from impossible where he lives up north it snows a lot longer an some gnarly hits an trails in the snow that shield flopping around letting a lot more water in than normal

its fixed now glad i got those shields

Question

got a question everyone
the 90 has the slow 6 its got a noise like a clatter only at certain RPM's

at idle its quiet but mid it clatters sounds like a bearing going out on an idler then at power range RPM its quiet again not sure what it is we know shes an oil leaker an just couple months ago replaced the entire ac compressor (cheaper than replacing the clutch) when standing right infront of the truck it sounds like its right dead center at or just above the water pump where the clattering is from

I have no clue what I'm talking about here, just curious, is it possible that its some type of pulley Bearing? I feel like I've read a couple of 3.0 threads where the tensioner or something was making a mystery clatter. I hope it's not the bottom end, buddy! It seems like when I had a bearing issue in the lower end, it would make the most noise at first start. You know, when they are little starved. So only under moderate load as in 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm or so?

yeah this is odd dont do it when cold not at idle im thinking its the slo 6 timing belt idler/tensioner when we got the truck it had an engine rebuild but the guy didnt know about the valve shims so the thing wouldnt sell off the car lot due to the major rattling i knew that problem an got it cheap as a result fixed the shims an tada! engine purred but havent been into the engine since then

yep the shocks did nothing i shoved them down an they stayed there so the gas charge was gone, the drivers side also had no oil in it flopped around loose

i didnt measure them to be honest but im getting used to the ride now an i like the feel of it

here in town we have a few streets that dip right at the gutters an she takes those now without complaint before it was bam! axle hitting stops bumper even whacking the pavement once

well we did some looking an some bending with a large cresent wrench but we got it on with out cutting the face flange bolt flanges ..weeell they dont come close to the bumper one is 1/4in ish away the drivers side least half an inch away so for now shes on just not bolted to the frame where the tow hooks go

also adjusted the torsion bars a bit to pick the nose up just a bit

I have the same push bar as you!! It seems as if its for a straight axle. Ive been fabbing some brackets to make it fit. I cannot find a brand name on it or any identification on what it is. It has a winch mount plate on it as well.

Actually mine sticks out farther for the winch mount than yours. Yours looks good and tightly mounted to the runner. nice work
