Omg I'm a freekin idiot. I can't believe i never realized that i had to have the lights or at least fog lights turned on for that switch to work. And all this time i thought i had burnt out my wiring lol! Wow thanks for the info guys. It works now. Or better yet it has always worked and I never realized it. Haha

You're not an idiot. I only know because I've read it here many times. IMO whoever designed it that way is an idiot. Would any of us leave the headlights on to turn the deck light to get whatever is in the back out?

I guess I have hung around Chef so much that I always see his lights turn on immediately after he opens the tailgate even while off. Exactly the way the front dome light works when you open the doors to the cab. He must have done a mod or something to make it work like that. but I guess after seeing his work that way I always assumed it worked instantaneously like his does. lol

ok so thought id upload a few pictures first this happened round 1st of the year storm blew in..literally my hood was closed it blew the snow an ice in under it was checking my coolant

my rear view mirror upgrade i noticed that the switch was hard to move from the forward position (anyone have one can tell me which way it goes for dome an door ? so i get the wiring logic right)

the little support pin was broken i added a little block of wood to support the terminal as the pin did works awesome now smooth an no reluctance to move

the 48 SMD LED panel it actually fits under the cover ..barely i think ill get a smaller one LOL

I have heard of overheating, but that is some serious over cooling, lol. I will be glad when this cold spell is over. Toms truck as some LEDs in its dome light and they are bright. Not nearly as many as what you have so I could only imagine. I eventually want to stick LEDs in mine.

I am waiting for warmer weather to get to the yards as my dome light is not working. I will see how the 88s work later today and see which one does what.

LOL old man winter was trying to look my engine over

they make a lot of light for a little power an last a LONG time i got a 24 SMD COB panel (cob means one single LED with the equivalent of 24 smaller ones) for a buck 25 and picked up 6 1156 COB bulbs for my turn an back up lights for 84 cents each we shall see how bright they are after this

an thank you terry back when i put the map light in i ran 2 wires so one is the on side the other i need to connect to the door line

I was out of town for the past couple of days. Mistys dome light works with the switch in the forward position. It works in the interior light in the backward position.

I will eventually mount some light that I can flip on when backing or just need lights at night when in the dark. I could of used that upgrade just the other day. I will be looking into that fairly soon.

You have some light in there now. I will eventually get around to doing the same thing. The normal bulbs are just do dim. Your interior is looking great as well. Your truck is coming along nicely.

thanks terry little by little i did buy an 87 arm rest but found out only after it got here it was for an SR5 so its different i'll see if it'll fit to replace my passenger side one which is wrapped in e-tape an looks ugly sticky in summer

was thinking of using a couple of these 3/4 in LED side markers in the holes in my bumper corners which i dont have the plastic caps for tie them into my turn signals so people on my sides can see im turning like the fender ovals but this would be further up front an these are VERY bright the clear comes with amber or red dependin on which ya want

i aslo bought some 1156 (single filament bulbs) in a cob LED version they were cheap so we shall see if they can be used to replace the turn signal an back up bulbs effectively

The arm rest will work. You will need to remove your door panel and there is a yellow tab that the screw goes into. The door is pre punched to move the yellow tab to where you need it to be. The punched holes in the door are about 1/4 inch squares. The doors are made for two or maybe three different arm rest.

I would like some bright reverse lights. Like to see your results.

I've always wanted to do the map lights. My DLX didn't come with a light on the mirror. Did you run the power from the dome light or from the A pillar? I think I've already complimented you on the interior. It's getting better and better.

meh another failure the LED COB 1156 bulbs which held a lot of promise fail... now im thinking it'll have to be a panel type to get enough LED's on the job

heres a couple pictures of the bulb in action its fast to light an go off caught it right as it was going off the incandescent is still lit on the left no where as bright either an on turn mode it does the bulb blown flash but that can be fixed via modding the relay IF the bulb was as bright

lets see today i got emails my parts are on the way the greaseable rear shackles an spring bushings for the rear
fixed the treager grill he blower fan was all jammed up an they sent us a new one under warranty i grabbed my electrolysis powersupply to do some repairs the cooling fan had failed last summer early on so i had a random pc fan blowing in it to keep it cool

** terry ** reminder blow out yours occasionally to help keep it cool an clean inside
so i replaced the fan cleaned up some of the extra wires that were redundant fixed the on off switch an painted the cover put some labels on it it can also be used to zinc plate nuts an bolts using vinegar sugar and the cleaner A&H stuff a chunk of hot dipped metal will give up a lot of zinc an it will deposit on the bolts nuts brackets (reversing the anode an cathode) so a good clean part hose it off after electrolysis an hang in electroplating bath to coat with a thin layer of zinc

repairing rust buster

all repaired an cleaned up

electrolysis cover with warrning labels

also trying the new image uploading i like it so far

My power supply had sit thru my last bodywork and had dust in it. I always blow it out before starting it up. I moved the tank outside and need to set the blades up in a more stable position. I got another manifold in mine cleaning now. I was about the new uploader a few days before in a Staff posting. I ought to try it, just slow to learn new things.

uploader is great like the organizing feature of it

look around for anything plastic clamp or C clamp like terry they wont conduct elect and are inert in the solution you can hang an clamp anodes all over easy that way chip clips the plastic clamps off clothes hangers from stores

let me know how the manifold is doing

also today my new polyurathane bushings arrived for my rear springs the greaseable shackles should be shipped around the 7th yay!
