Cyberhorn,
I still have my lower bumpstops and spring rests on its bracket so I used rubber pad to eliminate metal-on-metal contact here.

When you make bottom keepers, may I suggest that making it with a ledge so spring rests on that, instead of on the U-bolts? Cleaner, and no way to wear out your U-bolts. I wish I had the equipment to make it.

well the machine shop called the head after he did the valves an heli coiled the spark plug hole installed the new seals.. he checked it for cracks

yep cracked right across it..

told him if he could pull her back apart i can use the seals on whichever head i do find valves springs ect as spares

he has a friend with a head that would need some work my valves he's 'pretty sure' its a good head for 180

i sent a note off to utah4runner about his head which has 20K on it an a comp cam in it he was looking for 150 ive already been talking to him about a stack of other bits an pieces

well that put everything on hold wont even be able to get paint an primer

we have all kinds of scraps an ect around here but yeah i was likely to do a captured lower spring bolt through a flat strip holding the coil to a perch an a chunk of tire under the spring dont want the axle going walking on me when a U bolt breaks

HAHAHA.... OH, ok... I don't get phone alerts for stuff, so I would have to log into Youtube to see it.. Sorry, I'll check it out. "You're a funny cat!", my dad would say about ya, lol.

And NOPE, it's "Heat shrunk each wire... then heat shrunk both wires... THEN electrical tape " hahaha.

BTW, I'm dumping this Soldering Iron back at HF... it's fine... but I want the one they have in their mailer, 180W Push button Iron for 14.99$, plus my 20% off, 11.99$ ... The standard type work fine in the work room...but when I get out there in the cooler air at night and I'm trying to lean over and do tricky ones... I WANT SUPER HOT-QUICKLY! lol. Ya'feel'me? lol.

Ok, gotcha... thanks!

I used the Craftsman USA one I've had for 30 years until the other day.... It just stopped heat'n! ..... BUT, this one should do the trick much quicker.... I'm pretty decent with laying solder(I know, not like it's hard)... and I don't heat things too long... if the stuff isn't melting through within 10-15 seconds I know something isn't right..... And I HAD a lil torch before, but can't find it. I should grab another. I have a benzomatic, .... it's a lil much, .....but works FINE for stripping insulation, ya know? lol.

How you doing, William?

Just getting caught up on your thread. Those clips you are talking about, I have been looking for some myself. I have been on ebay and havent seen those yet.

I did find some that look like that holds the pillar trim on the side that says "4Runner". I checked with Toyota and they didnt have that style and the ones on ebay look like those.

The clips that hold the weather seals in on the doors and tailgate, I still havent found them either. I am going to get what I can from the boneyard but they are so brittle getting them out. I have broke about half of them just getting them out of a door that I have and sure I will break the other half putting them in.

Hopefully the head will work out for you. I just assumed that my machine shop installed the valve seals on my 88. They didnt, so now I have a winter project to do. It only smokes occasionally but something to make sure they do for you or that you do before putting the head on.

I meant to mention in my previous post that hope the docs get your foot better soon. I have been buggered up for over a year and not having your health 100% is something you take for granted until it happens. Hope you get some good news soon. Having bandages the size of a ballon around your foot is sure to get in the way.

thank ya terry

yeah cant wear a shoe with the wound vac on it

right now the hole is covered by a bandaid BUT its not a closed sealed skin which is the issue

the foot has already lost due to such a hole letting bacteria into the bone in this order over the past 12 yrs - big toe, third toe, second toe, then doc did a 1/4 tarsal amputation to head off any bacteria that might be sitting at the joints waiting for a chance to attack it ended up with a T shaped incision an that took years to heal up

then due to a poorly made carbon fiber spring plate for my shoe i developed a blister an i had a new hole which april of this year was the size of a silver dollar an deep enough to hold 2 stacked an be flush with the bottom of the foot

doc got me put into a nursing home for 3 weeks while a new type of skin graft was used an it did the job but that last tiny bit 3mm x 5mm is still open not even a full mm deep but its a hole thus its a risk its a hole.. submarine cant submerge with a screen door an thats effectively what ive got to any bacteria till its closed

its why i got the runner im tired of siting wasting my life doin nothin waiting for this foot my work on the runner hasnt made it mad or made it worse it didnt change at all so my activity level isnt a factor my emotional state improved as i was doing something!
