Now I need to get the axle complete and put the Steering arms on. I am going to paint them tomorrow morning while I try and get the axle assembled.
I really just want to get this done and back on the road as soon as possible.
Still waiting on the Rear setup as well.

I'm jealous of the time you're able to spend on your 4runner. Mines still in pieces in the garage. 😞 I'm going to check my alert settings for this thread cuz I never get anything. Keep up the kickass work.

Before you button everything up, check your caster angle. Actually you may not be able to check it accurately with the truck in the air. I'd rather have a driveshaft vibration then a truck that is sketchy to drive. IIRC caster should be 6°, but you'll need to check this with the vehicle on its own weight since leafs change the caster when they move.

Are you thinking I might have created a caster issue with the Shims?
One thing I will admit....is that I am not very experienced in the whole Driveline angle of a 3rd member off of a Front driveshaft.
Does it look like I need to increase the angle more? Remove the Shim? Try something different.
Let me know what you think.
Any and all help is appreciated.
I had the shims in before with 6" shackles, and it drove decent minus the clapped out Push and Pull steering. Not sure if that info helps.
Again......any and all advice/criticism is welcomed.

get the rig on the ground and set a degree finder on the top of the hi steer...flattest spot on top of the trunion bearing. Because leafs will change the caster angle in every way as soon as they leave the standard ride height you will need to do this with the truck sitting on its own 4 wheels. Check to see where your caster sits....if its over 6° be a degree or two you should be fine, but a degree or two under 6° and your rig is going to 'hunt' in the lane when you go down the highway. Don't worry so much about front pinion angle, this is why all toyotas come with a double cardon u-joint up front. And besides, you aren't running the front engaged at high speed. IF you do use a shim(same as a lift block) I would weld it to the leaf perch for added insurance.

Great advice. Maybe I'll try to see what it's like without the shim as well. I would prefer to run it without the shim.
My old setup had the shim and although I did not like it, it drove fine.
Thanks again.
I need a good angle finder.

Got some More work done today. I was able to assemble the Knuckles on the Axle and get them ready to be torqued. Almost thought I lost a shim.....It was hiding under the Grime!!

Got both Knuckles on and need to torque them.

Got the Birfield apart and cleaned. I managed to shoot a bearing out and hit myself in the cheek. haha. Be careful taking these things apart..

New Rear springs and Bushings came today!!

I managed to hit a roadblock with putting the Birfield back together. The external Retaining clip crapped out when I was trying to reinstall it. I am going to have to pick up another one. Hopefully over the weekend.
I still need to install the High Steer, and get the Rear installed.
Anyone have a good place to get some U-bolts. I want to do the rear but cant afford the Flip Kit at the Moment. I have the ability to make the top plates myself.
Thanks Guys.

I am not sure where to get the U-bolts from but when you find out please post the information. Eventually I will take mine back to stock and know I will be having to change mine.

Worked on the runner tonight at the school. Had a former student Coke and give me a hand. He's on the forum (Greg Eccles Jr.).
Got the passenger side ready to accept the brakes and hub and it's done.
Hopefully going to have some time to finish up the drivers side and get the axle complete. Then start on the high steer IFS box mount tomorrow.
Had a small hiccup with a zerk fitting on the TG shackle.
I literally put the pliers to it to see if it was tight and after touching it.....it crumbled!!

Not a big deal. I'll get another fitting.

Got the spindle on and realized I forgot to pack with grease!!!!! Haha. No big deal.....5 minutes later it was back together 3/4 full of grease.

Greg torquing the spindle to the 38 ft/lbs

Here's the grease I pumped into the grease able pins

I am thinking my U-bolts go from the top down which is oppisite of yours. I will look into that later today. Being able to use a lift will spoil you the next time you have to work without one. A friend of mine has one and it makes a world of difference.

Im getting SOOOOOO close!!!
The Darn Torque rod gave me SOOOo much trouble trying to cut it off. Must be made from Kryptonite!!!!!
Finally got it hacked off.

Test fit the New box and figured I would not have to more it that much forward. But here it is in the first location. The Drag link would hit the Tie rod under compression.

Had to "Persuade" the Firewall a little

Heres where I ended up. This is as far forward as I could make it without hacking out the Firewall.. I was really surprised that I had to move it this far forward.
