Hey Gizler, I was just checking out your build. I like your runner and the quality of work ya put into it. I saw earlier in your thread you were talking about going OD green. That's funny, cause I just painted my 84 OD green and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll be posting some pics of it completed in my build thread soon. Maybe you can get an idea of how the color will look on you runner....

Looks good Gizler. You have a mighty clean runner. Jealous I am.

Thanks Man! I really love OD green...especially with Black wheels. I wish I had the Time and space to do an Actual Paint Job. But with my limited Resources and Painting ability, I have been doing sections at a time.

I really love the Look of yours.

Thanks!! It has some Body issues, but I have been trying to work them out little by little.

Its so hard to keep the Rust off these things here in the Midwest!

Went out to my buddies farm today and got to play around on 400 acres of farm land.

I really love this new setup. It's so much smoother than before. And the high steer just keeps getting better and better.

I did not like my springs at first. I think once you get some miles on them that they will get smoother. Great to hear it is working out for you.

I think that my next step in the Build process is going to be making bumpers. I really want to get my Spare out of the back cargo area. And I really want to build a winch Bumper for the front. This is also something that is long overdue.

Will be looking forward to what you build. Having the pipe bender will make things nice. I like the look of a spare tire mounted outside of a truck on the rear but it does block alot of visibility if mounted to high.

I had fun yesterday at the shop. Your runner rides well considering everything done to it. I'm going to try to start drawing parts again and see what you kids can make. A plate front/rear bumper would be awesome.

Hey Gizler, hope all is well with you and the Runner. I took your advice and bought the high steer kit from TrailGear. Now I just gotta find an IFS Box! I saw you went with an engine builder 268 cam. I was on the phone with them today and they recommended a 261 for my setup. I'm not sure which cam I should go with at this point. How do you like the 268 thus far, any noticeable difference?

Glad you made the jump and ordered the high steer! You will love it.

I really like the 268 cam. It really matched my setup. I called Ted and he said that with my .040 overbore, and 5.29's the 268 would give me the power where I needed it.

The 261, if I remember correctly, builds power sooner in the RPM range, where the 268 builds it later. My truck is so torquey off idle with the 5.29's that I think I benefit more with the 268.

Make sense?

I ended up going with the 261 cam, it really helped especially with the 33's and 4:10's. I'm not sure it was so much the cam that helped tho. The original rocker arms & cam turned out to be badly worn/grooved, so I Installed new rocker arms as well. You'll love the 4:70's, so much easier on the drivetrain (no riding clutch, and just idles over everything). The cheapest place to buy the transfer case is from trailgear off Ebay. I got mine for $740 including the shipping (no core charge either).

So I picked this up a few weeks ago.

Its an 86 SR5 Turbo.

All stock but unfortunately someone removed the Turbo. Other than that its untouched.

Has some goofy things done that I need to change.

Here are a few pics. Im planning on selling it soon.

The OEM red has really grown on me. I always want to paint the caps black though. That 4Runner must be in unheard of condition for Iowa. I bet one of your students will want to buy it.
