Well last week I started to get a frequent squeal from the drive belts. I figured it was one of the pulleys up front. I have been overdue on replacing my belts for some time now, and figure I would dig into it.
I started to remove the power steering belt and found the tensioner pulley was locked up solid.
It had no movement at all. So that was a quick find I thought.
Here is a pic of it. On the older style, you can actually service it and remove the bearing and install a new one. Kind of nice, rather than having to get a whole new unit.

So when I called to get the bearing, they said they had a whole new pulley. Hmmmmmm. So I had them send one up.
It was the newer style without the removable bearing. Has a smaller inner diameter. This can work, as the arbor/bolt that holds the pulley uses a bushing spacer to make up the difference.
I tried to get the new one to work but just could not seem to get it spaced right, and was taking forever. Plus I had to drive it home in a few hours.

Here you can see the bushing sitting on the battery.

Check out the tightening bolt. It was all chewed up. So I went ahead and replace that.

Two different bolts, old style on left and new style on right. It's hard to tell but at the base they are different.

Got the arbor press out.

Removed the retaining clip

Shhhhh. I used a ford hub socket on the bottom.

Slid out like butter surprisingly

Had some green paint left over. Why not

Here's the replacement bearing if anyone needs it.

Got me home last night.

Ill post up more info in the build for a buddy thread.
There is a threat for snow in the area tonight and the Temps are drastically dropping this evening and will not break 35 degrees here for the rest of the week. So I have been scrambling to get things done.
I had to change out my rear diff fluid and add some LS additive. The locker was getting really noisy. I also want to change out my radiator but looks like that is going to have to wait.

I hear ya, winter is fast approaching, I'm kind of surprised we haven't got snow yet, temp is supposed to be in the teens at night this week and mid-30's during the day...not looking forward to it, AUUgh!

You just reminded me why I don't like flying. I hope I never ride in another plane again. Jason in tn is flying for the first time in his life today and I am interested in his thoughts on flying. It used to be okay but now is a pain in the rear in my opinion.

Hey Terry! You got that right! It is a total pain in the rear to fly anymore. I absolutely hate it. Never fails, something always goes wrong and we get delayed.
