Got an pics of the 48 Dodge? My father in law has a 52 Dodge that I could have. Just not sure if I want to tie into any time soon.

The Weber will make life easier. I see a plug that you can remove and make things a little cleaner. I will get some pictures off of my 85 and post them for you later on if you want. When you get everything set right, two pumps of the throttle and the truck will start up quick. I really like how mine started on cold days. I thought it might be troublesome during the winter and it was great. Webers are great!!!

I think I Know which plug you mean, But I would love to see some Pictures of your setup.

I was just telling KelvinB yesterday, that I used to be intimidated by the 22r carb and would avoid purchasing them. Now that I have installed this weber, I would not hesitate to pick one up!

Where my thumb is you can get a metal pipe fitting and remove that big vacuum assembly. I for get the sizes but you can plug the little one off as well.


Here is a view of my set up. I moved the fuel filter to the front of the motor instead at the tank. Just a couple of vacuum lines and one hot wire for the choke,


Make sure you get this correct for the throttle cable and ligned up right. I too used to stay away from carb trucks but now I really like them over the EFI trucks. EFI is great but once you get gremilins, you are always chasing something on them. A friend of mine says with some different springs in the distributor and a header and you would be shocked at how much power these 22rs can put out.

 

Thanks for the Pictures and Info Terry!! I need to get the bracket you are using for the throttle cable. I had to modify the current one that was on the truck. I was also thinking about trying to get another new cable since this one was torn up.

Now we just need a new shifter seat and it will be ready to drive.

 

Need to make a more formal Update to this thread tomorrow, But we have it running and driving down the road!

 

Had to replace a Nasty Master Cylinder and shes was ready for the Road.









First maiden voyage! I let one of the students drive it back. He was very excited.

Is still needs quite a bit of work to be 100%, but its come LONG way.

There are a few things that need to be addressed with it. It definitely needs rear brakes, and quite a few small things to be finished up. But Im hoping to return the truck to the owner and let him take the lead sooner than later.

 

Decided to take care of some things on the Front end. Main order of business was the Tie rod. The original one to this axle was bent, so I wanted to replace it with a spare I had laying around. Also decided to throw on my old Rancho Steering Stabilizer. Hopefully it tracks a little better than before.

This thing would be so nice with High Steer!!

Also the wheel bearings needed to be snugged up some. It took forever to get the cone washers apart. Worst I have ever dealt with. I have had some that were difficult....But this one takes the cake. The passenger side would not come loose. Had to let it soak over the weekend.






One last big issue is the brakes. They are having some issues holding firm pressure. New master and lines, still goes to floor. Stops but goes to the floor. Also swapped out a booster (unsure of condition) but still need to figure it out.

Hopefully having this thing wrapped up sooner than later, and out the door.

The day has finally come where it was time to hand over the keys to the Truck. My Buddy called and said he wanted to pick up the truck and finish the rest of the work on it.

Still needs things like an E-brake (2wd frame doesnt have the same setup as the 4wd)

Front Marker lights, New gauge cluster, Shocks, tidy up some vacuum lines and wiring........stuff like that.

But it runs and drives nice down the road. I took it to the gas station this morning to put some more fuel in it.

It was kind of sad......Like watching your project that had to be sold drive away.

Im so very happy that he finally has it back and so very thankful for the opportunity to do the build. I learned so much through out the whole process and would like to do another one in the near future.





I think that I will leave the thread open and continue to add info and some other things about. Who knows......Maybe Ill be able to start another one soon.

Truck came along ways. It is sometimes sad to see them go but it leaves it open for another project. Moving on to another project is always exciting and can go a little quicker as you have learned a few short cuts. Great job on what you guys accomplished!!!
