Thanks!! It was a rare find. Truck was originally from out west somewhere, then was in Alabama , them Colorado, now here . Haha.

It's really clean and being a 2wd, it had the gas tank that I need for this 2wd SAS frame. Lots of good parts. I even think the engine might be good. Has new timing parts and cover. I need to get it running.

Then the plan is to strip it if all the parts for the SAS build truck, then part the rest.

Sadly there is no title for the truck or it would be staying together and made into a sweet little dd truck.

I'm kind of excited to see more work get done in the build.

Hopefully I will get some decent kids this year that are interested in seeing this thing get up and running.

Thanks for looking.

Rarely do you see the Japanese bed on these generation of trucks, or atleast I dont. Look great. I was just talking today to jason in tn about how many dont have titiles. That ruins alot of trucks.

I agree. I very rarely see these beds on our generation. It's super clean. And a real shame that it has no title.

Technically there is a title and know where it's at but the guy will not return calls, or any contact. Like he just disappeared.

Really would be a nice DD

Thanks Chris! I think it will look way better with the bed vs a flat bed.

Hoping to start having the kids tear it down next week.

Seeing that two wheel drive reminded me of an 86 two wheel that has been sitting for a while and I forgotten about it and will see if I can get the owner to sell it. He said if he ever ready to sell it he would call me. It has some front end damage but should be an easy fix. Thanks for posting it. Might work out and be my next quick project. Have a great weekend, it will fly by and then winter is just around the corner.

It's sad that 2WD doesn't have a title. What is the difference in the bed that makes it a Japanese bed?

Are you guys back in school yet? One of the VA laws we enjoy is that school must start after Labor Day. The teachers and kids get a full three months off. A lot of districts are getting waivers though.

I heard some farmers say that we are supposed to get a first snow by mid October. That's only a month and a half away. I have a lot to do before then.

It really is. But if it was all rotted out and falling apart, I would probably have multiple titles for it. Haha.

We started back to school last Monday. Which is actually late around here. Some schools started mid August. We used to start that early and then be done mid May. It was great.

The top bed rail is what determines if it is a Japanese bed. Another way to tell is the latches on the outsides of the tailgate. This is the way that I understand it. On the 79-83, they have little hooks on the outside. I dont think I have ever seen a bed like the one below on a first gen pickup. I could be wrong at that.

American made, if I understand right. Other then the tailgate, the top 2-3 inches is all that is really different. Everything else is the same. I never seen a bed like this when I was overseas.

We have leaves turning brown already and falling. I hope we dont have a winter like last year. I was getting cabin fever being locked in so long. I am hoping the shop with insulation and some heat will solve that problem.

I see so many trucks with no titles. I parted out a first gen cab and that is one thing I did keep was title and all the VIN numbers. I know of a truck that a guy has and his brother died and getting a title would be a night mare. If I ever got that truck I have intentions for it. I know the history of the truck and would only be for a truck like that.

Alabama is easy to get a title for one. Some states recognize a bill of sale from them. Missouri does not recognize a bill of sale from Alabama due to them titling a vehicle so easy. They run a history on it and issue a bill of sale.

Interesting info on the bed. I never knew that.

Thats good to know on the title. Otherwise this cab is no good unless used for an off road buggy or something similar

I started messing with the 22r in this 2wd pickup.

Timing was way off and would barely crank. There wasn't a single ground hooked up.

Not getting any spark either. I think the igniter is suspect.

I'm going to swap in the GM ignition conversion with spare parts I have.

I want to see if this runs, and if so it will help me sell the engine after stripping it.

Has a new was gasket, timing cover, timing kit, and a few other things
