Glad to help Robb. The practice was good for me too. The 70/100 with 30 on the gas worked pretty well, but I think we would could have gone 70/90-5 with 25 on the gas and had less to grind in the end. Painted finished product looks great.

Not much of an update but finally found some roll bar padding that I liked (plus my wife said ok):
It has most of the padding facing whatever direction you want:

Picked up an 8" tablet that I will be able to also use as a GPS, just need to find some good Android software for it, but it will sure be a lot easier to see than my little Garmin. Also need to find a mount:

Played around with some lighting options, center light is an LED, puts out a ton of light. Just need to figure where to mount them:

Not sure if I like it mounted above the bumper:

I think it looks better below the top bar of the bumper. Does one set up give you better visibility?

Where is the led strip from?

Diggin' the tablet!!! I've been wanting to do the same thing for some time, but man between my mountain bike/hiking/camping/truck hobbies funds are at an all time low..

Can you just load the Android software on generic tablets? I'm not too schooled on those things. I had planned to just get a iPad, but if there's other options I'm going to seriously give them a look.

But anyhow, truck is looking good! I've been off the 'net for a while but my 3RZ is running great. Love it. Hope all is well.

Take care,

Hey Justin
I really like the tablet. Can't wait to use it on the trail. Not sure about using Droid software on a generic tablet. Seems like the OS would need to be compatible still learning alot.
Good to hear the 3RZ is running great. I would love to convert some time.

It has been kimd of crappy weather all day so i played with the welder today and welded some tabs for rock light. Ran out of time to wire anything though.

Welding on your back is a pain. Need to invest in leather welding jacket. The hot stuff down my shirt reminded me of my army days having hot brass go down my neck

trying to figure out mounting ideas for the LED light bar.
down by the winch mount would interfere with my planned future winch so tried this:

zip ties are just a cheap way to try different mounting options..

mounted to the cage would help keep it more secure
daylight:

night, puts out a ton of light but would need to make a shield to prevent the light from filling the interior with light.

if I end up keeping it mounting to cage I will move it to the center and move the rearview mirror.
Just not sure how much use it would actually get mounted up there..
may end up selling it...dunno

I like the cage mount idea if it doesn't create glare on the windscreen. I guess you don't want it mounted to the roof?

that looks so much like police lights. you should get an amber light for the roof and make it "off-road patrol" or something. or not, what ever you do will look sweet.
