Not much of an update but picked up a set of sliding windows at pick n pull today. Too long but I will cut the frames down to about 38" or so.

There were a lot of cheap canopies last week that would have had perfect windows but was broke...

Hit TrekkerPaul's used parts emporium for a 2WD grill. Mine was toast and saw a truck on pirate with one and thought why not:

Man those windows would replace my broken ones perfect.

wow your trekker has come a long ways, i remember driving by it all the time admiring it. then one day i stopped by cause i saw you out working on it and that was the first time i ever had seen one(i always just thought it was a n early 80s 4x4 pickup with a shell), and ever sense ive wanted one(the mrs says i have too many toys right now, but if we win the lottery i can get more(finger crossed). its so nice to see all the little things that you have done. it makes me want to start dumping money into my 85s. i cant wait to see whats next for this rig. if you need a hand let me know im not working full time and can pretty much set my own schedule so yeah.

No real updates but figured since I rolled the truck out today to take some pics of the cage for another trekker owner thought I would take of couple of pics of misc stuff..
Cut down the window frame. Happy that the frame fits the existing curve:

Borrowed some stock bumper mounts from TrekkerPaul to get an idea for the curve for my new mounts. I am thinking about using the big channel.. Should be able to get both mounts out of it.. Misc stuff to use for bracing:

That might be a possibility I take them over to a friends but have a feeling I will do it the hard way

Finally got off my fat butt and finished cutting the top. A little to wet and chilly to start the fiberglass

Need to trim the mounting bracket a little more and find some 1.25" tubing to do an inner sleeve for the upper tube..

It was and it wasn't, I got a couple of quotes for shipping and it was going to be around $100 to ship by the time I got packing material on it. One guy semi local wanted it but wanted me to meet him to deliver for free and it would have cost me $50 in gas.

Kind of hard to get motivated to weld today...been raining/flooding the last few days..

Ian: yep considered one of those..along with a lot of things but my accountant (aka: the missus) shoots them down sometimes.
This is my annual negotiate (beg) for project $$$ time of year with the tax refund on the way. Shoot for moon and hope for 20% of the goal amount
I am seriously blessed that my wife has allowed me to throw a ton of $$$ at this thing over the last 5 years

I did an internal sleeve with rosette welds on both upper and lower tubes.
Going to have someone with a real welder to help me with the brackets.

Your top is looking great, and thought your welds looked nice also. Each step is a little closer.
