thanks Al.
no real updates...stupid dog ate two tubes of RTV sealant I had for the Transfers case...so between vet bills and kids being sick and now it being a little cold outside (am a wimp) haven't really had time...
might grap my dad's propane barn heater this afternoon from Oregon city and see if I can at least get the transmission in tomorrow...will put the transfer cases in the house to let them warm up for the sealant to cure

COngrats on getting it to pass DEQ
I just need to get motivated and get off my butt and get to work on this thing.
Might take you up on your offer...Still got Monday's off?
might borrow a different transmission jack, just need to get the angle right...

I don't see the Jeep on craigslist--any luck on a cool trade? Maybe another Landcruiser

no serious bites on the cherokee. i think i'll just get the few quirks ironed out and sell it outright as well as my chevy p/u and get a bigger tow rig.

sent you a PM on meeting up. my weekends changed, but i'll still come get my hands dirty with ya.

the slowest transmission replacement in history continues but at least the POS is in the truck now...still have to put the duals back in and hook up all the misc crap but getting this far today gives me some motivation"

found this just before trying again--much easier to replace a rounded fill plug when the trans is out:

sucks that it is a 4 speed but 4 gears are better than no gears

just praying the rest of it doesn't take me another 3 months.

it's in--TC's at least

well got a couple of hours today to work on the truck

you know the truck has been in the garage for too long when you notice cobwebs in your sliders:

one advantage to 35's--you can slide the transfer cases under the axle--my garage is a tight fit

been too long since I saw this:

now the to do list is a lot shorter:
-bleed brakes
-hook up starter
-put shifter in
-put the twin stick in rear case and the single stick in the front case

will be converting the headlights to rectangular soon thanks some parts from another Trekker owner..thanks Paul

it's not a done deal just yet. Need to find the marker lights. I just think that the beam pattern put out by a rectangular light is better on a DD.
I am gonna hang on to the Round Eye stuff in case I don't like the conversion so I have totally crossed to the darkside.

Find a new tow rig yet?

dunno know if you need any but the local Toyota dealer (royal moore) had 79-81 parking light lense for $9 and I got both l/r 82-83 lenses for $8'ish each

I had tried the local dealers before with out luck. This time got lucky and got l/r 79-81 and l/r 82-83
79-81 passenger side 81611-89101 $9.28
79-81 driver side 81621-89101 $9.28
82-83 passenger side 81611-89121 $8.22
82-83 driver side 81621-89121 $8.22

they also still had the lense gaskets in stock, but not the headlight bezels.
I think the price was good, did not expect to find these things new. if you find them in the boneyard they are usually extremely white and cracked like crap

decided that my Montero seats suck...like the armrest but some times the kids crawl through between the seats and that did not work, plus I couldn't use my ammo can center console so picked this junk up yesterday'
93 Celica seats, better support, should clean up with some woollite easily

MOunting surfaces are a little different, will need to bend them flat and mount over some 2" box tubing. The flat rears are straight forward.
Just need to cut off the locating pins:

and another local Trekker owner hooked me up with a set of wind wing door glass and mechanisms--also a couple of door shells..Now I have complete extra set of doors in addition to my set for half doors

I want the wind wings since the defrosters are so anemic in our trucks.

I should have asked. have to hit homedepot tomorrow will swing by the dealer ship and check. Have a line for a couple set for $50 off a 2WD but the guy is not sure if he wants to part with them...they look almost brand new, seals in great shape

Not much of an update but had some time to get the shifters installed and a few other misc things done.
I had to trim about 3/4"-1" around the upper right part of the tunnel opening to get the L43 4 Speed to go through all the gears...maybe I can rid of the dogleg TC lever...we'll see

When using the 4.7 gears you can see your shifters move quite a bit. Not sure how old my motor mounts are but my wife was nice enough to spring for a set of replacement mounts These will hopefully prevent a busted motor mount when out in the boonies

these things have got some beef to them...not sure how quickly I will get them it but hopefully in the next month or so.
